Public = Wrong (about PS3)

Can't there be some kind of official declaration that PS3 has been disqualified from system wars?

I am really tired of reading these "wait and see playstation three" threads. Cows need to accept when they have lost.

I'm not getting a Playstation 3. I recently purchased a Sony Home Cinema System so Bluray is of no use to me.

I'll be picking up Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII when they are ported to the Xbox360. I have no interest in Killzone and Motorstorm.

How DARE the public not WANT to spend $600 on a ps2 with better graphics....how DARE THEY!!?!

Frankly i find it offensive that consumers dont want to purchase the same product with a higher price tag.....they should leave the thinking to corporate heads like kuturagi to tell them what to like and buy!

you act like a ps2 with better graphics would be a bad thing. The ps2 was an excellent console with many great games. I certainly would want a gamecube with a new controller :P

The Gamecube had much better hardware than the Playstation 2. It was more powerful, more reliable, and cheaper to manufacture.

Also, if you look you will notice that Sony are hyping Killzone 2.

The majority of the public thinks that the PS3 is doomed to finish last place in this console cycle. Well the public is, like always, wrong. I know that numbers dont lie and the PS3 is last place now, BUT there have only been about 20 million consoles sold this gen, and last gen sold over 170 million consoles total. WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED WITH THIS WAR. We will see that all the hidden demand lies in waiting, waiting to buy the PS3 in incrementally increasing units as the price drops and software rises.

EDIT: I am talking about what the public NOW thinks what will happen in the future. I know eventually the public will determine the winner, but now all the publics bad sentiment is tilted toward the PS3

At this stage of the game providing a GC with better graphics + a revolutionary controller offers far more new gameplay possibilities for the consumer and the developer than simply providing, for example, a GC with better graphics.

So in comparison, and given the fact that the ps3 is tremendously more expensive than the GC and offers much much less, the ps3 looks simply like a ps2 with better graphics. That wouldnt be such a bad thing if it didnt cost so friggin much, if it wasnt designed to be a trojan horse in the format wars so as to get consumers to spend more money RE-BUYING their dvd collection on a format that is both unproven and more expensive and if it wasnt simply a platform to sell franchise games that have been sequeled to death and have already been played (because the gameplay stays the same) by the consumer for not only $50 but often times $60.

While providing more possibilities for gameplay, it can also screw up like red steel and won't necessarily make a game much better than not having it. I think twilight princess is a good example. It can cause many problems in the begging of the console unlike with the xbox which uses more tradition forms of gameplay yet had more games worth playing than the wii has now in the same timeframe.

Nobody wants you to rebuy their DVD collection, that why the ps3 can play DVD's as well. For new DVD's what would be so wrong with buying much higher quality version of them for about $10 more? (If you have a 1080p which are becoming cheaper and more available by the day) "sell franchises games that have been sequeled to death" Yeah, the wii definitly doesn't and won't have any of those... and don't start using the wiimote as an exuse. There's a reason why many people haven't bought the wii and many people who've bought the wii still have bought a ps3/xbox360.
