The release of Tecmo Koei's "TPS" Quantum Theory appears to have hit a rough patch, with the publisher-developer announcing that the game will not make its scheduled March 25 release date in Japan due to quality reasons.
As of right now, per Tecmo Koei's announcement, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 third-person shooter is listed a "TBA" with no new firm release date. That delay applies to the North American release date as well, Tecmo Koei reps confirmed, meaning that the previously penciled in March release window is now unlikely.
Again, based on our own hands-on time with the game at Tokyo Game Show, more quality can't hurt.
Tecmo Koei also issued a similar delay to the PlayStation 3 role-playing game Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll (aka Trinity: Zill O'll Zero), citing quality concerns.
Well, it actually is good for players, because Tecmo Koei is delaying Quantum Theory to "improve quality". It's just not good for Tecmo Koei.
The stock prices for Tecmo Koei Holdings dipped 9.5 percent, and the company slashed its operating profit forecast by 97 percent. Ouch.
This is the latest in a series of bad news for Tecmo Koei. The company recently posted its third quarter total profit earnings, which were ¥1.84 billion (US$20.3 million) in the red. The company took losses on Wii title Sangoku Musou 3.
