Poll Quest for the Holy Grail: Fallout 4 or The Witcher 3? (125 votes)
So in short, which RPG between those two do you find the best of 2015?
Fallout 4?
or
The Witcher 3?
So, what's your choice?

Witcher 3 is like a Davinci painting that Davinci painted while drunk. Imperfect yet astounding. Fallout 4 is like a homework project from a 12 year old done at the last minute, who was also drunk. Imperfect and disappointing. Fallout 4 is a joke, all filler no killer.
Nailed it!
Best answer right here.
Witcher 3, no contest
stupid thread ?
Nah, there's plenty of people out there who might have enjoyed Fallout 4 more for various reasons. I'm just expressing my opinion here.

I'm actually very surprised by the poll results considering the hype that surrounded Fallout 4 launch.

While there was hype, the "huge" hype that the forums saw were by a small minority. You can see by user reviews around multiple website, (not just meta critic). I like the game a lot but there aren't many high points in the game. There are plenty of low and medium point but nothing I'll remember for the future. Playing it feels to me like it's a redone fallout 3/

Granted, but there were still over 12 million people who decided to purchase the game, and over 2 million people on Steam. That is still more than a double of what CDPR managed to sell. According to the last data from September, The Witcher 3 sold "only" 6 million units.

Without a doubt, the sales are high. But sales alone doesn't tell the entire story. Bethesda does a good job advertising games. Quite honestly, I don't recall seeing one commercial about Witcher 3; but Fallout 4? Battlefield? Call of Duty? Plenty. Personally, I don't think Witcher 3 was going to even sell 6 million despite it being a better games. It just did not have that target. Look at Call of Duty, the budget to make the game was only $50 million, but the advertising was $200 million. GTA $260 to make, and $140 in marketing. Witcher 3 $81 to both develop and advertise. We still haven't gotten the numbers for Fallout 4
My point being is, sales while is an okay measurement to use to identify financial success doesn't really identify quality. Look at other best or high selling games. Batman AK, it sold more than Witcher 3 but flopped to the point that it had to be pulled from PC sales. I rather look at reviews from critics and users along with sales to identify quality. Clearly W3 was a massive success for the companies because they are building reputations, they are beating their sales predictions, they made 64 million in profit, and reviews are incredible.
@Berserker1_5: I think over time Witcher 3 will sell more and more. It's a fairly unique product and a lot of PC gamers are holding off due to tech restraints. Over time more and more people will play W3, it's one of the best looking and most interesting games if you have a high end pc
Witcher 3 is way more polished and has a better story and probably a whole lot more effort put into it but... For me, futuristic wasteland with awesome settlement creation tools to make the game my own vs. fantasy dungeons and dragons style environment sword combat which for me is super worn out and done to death and I have to play a specified character and go along with a mostly predetermined story path ... I'll take Fallout. But that's just me. I hope Cyberpunk will be the absolute holy grail for me. Bethesda and CDPR should join forces and make the game I really want. They could base the game on Blade Runner or something!
All this praise about TW3....can't wait to play it either tonight or tomorrow night.
Better not be another let down like the other 2 Witcher games.

Look at the poll.
The Witcher 3 is exponentially more significant. The reason why it's not 100%...is because people who didn't vote for it probably haven't played it yet.
@robokill: Without a doubt, Witcher will continue to sell. However, it is a downward slope, as time progress, it will sell fewer and fewer.
I'm positive that if CDporject keeps releasing games at this quality, their sales with continue to increase from title to title. Remember they really just started, try have made only 3 big games. They also have Gog which I think is 100x better than steam. Give them time, I think they will become more popular than Bethesda. Bethesda has had a much longer time to create a fan base and capital. They were able to capitalize on the gaming market when it was growing exponentially
@with_teeth26: i just finished fallout 4 and was kinda dissappointed. Never played tw3 but I need something for me to regain my faith in gaming.

Whether Witcher 3 will do that depends on your taste in gaming. If you value good storytelling/writing, choices that actually matter, and a well crafted world full of quality side quests, Witcher 3 will absolutely do this. If you want a tight combat focused game, it might not - the combat decent, but its nothing mind blowing.
The Witcher 3 is beautiful, well crafted, and (mostly) well-written by video game standards, but it fails in the most important aspect: being a game. The Witcher 3 is not a good game. Fallout 4 is, and that's why it's running laps around The Witcher.

This post is false in just about every aspect.

This is my nomination for comment of the year.
@charizard1605: I really don't understand what the fuss is with the The Witcher. I couldn't bring myself to play it for more than 20 minutes at a time. I did not find it fun or enjoyable in any way.

In which case state it as an opinion. Your post states it as a fact, and then wraps it up in the real kicker of the bunch- 'this is why Fallout 4 is running laps around The Witcher.'
Running laps how? Critical reception? The Witcher is the highest rated game of this year, Fallout barely breaches into the high 80s. Player reception? Again, Witcher beats Fallout here. Sales? Sure, Fallout has shipped more copies than Witcher 3 has sold, but since when were sales the metric for determining a game's quality?
@charizard1605: But, you see, my friend, if you don't write in extremes, you get almost no responses. ;)

so the witcher 3 is bad because you have a short attention span?
I really don't understand what the fuss is with the The Witcher. I couldn't bring myself to play it for more than 20 minutes at a time. I did not find it fun or enjoyable in any way.
Welcome to the minority bro. I understand why people like it, but I'll never understand why people are singing praises to high heavens for it. Right now it's being touted as not only one of the best RPGs of all time, but one of the best games of all time in general... and here I am not even able to squeeze it into my top 5 for 2015. Probably not even top 10.
It's been a funny cycle for me. Tried just a little of TW1 and hated it. Everyone hyped TW2 as one of the best rpgs of all time. I wasn't believing it, but people kept on saying "trust us, it's way better than TW1!" So I bought it. And yeah it was a big improvement, but still largely disappointing. Earlier this year I went ahead and gave them both another try, really going out of my way to try pushing through TW1. Again, just couldn't do it. But then TW3 releases. Yet again, everyone is doing their best to tell me how awesome the game is. Some of them even saying they also hated the previous games, "but this one is different!". And sure, TW3 is yet again a big improvement. Still does nothing for me though.
Anyways. I can see why some may like it. I can recognize that it's an awesome achievement, it even gives me hope for future CDPR games. I'm just not feeling it. Whatever this game is doing for other people, it's not doing the same thing for us.
The Witcher series is quickly becoming like the GTA series for me. I understand the appeal, but it does nothing for me.
@ConanTheStoner: Right there with you brother, its like its not even hype anymore. I respect that the game is good, but im not seeing where this praise is coming from
@Mercenary848: Thank God I'm not the only one. There's just something missing for with The Witcher... I think it's got everything but the fun factor.
^^^^ I really enjoyed Witcher 2, Witcher 1 would be ok if the combat was not so dull. Witcher 2 was one of my favorite games of last gen, so I was surprised when I couldnt bring myself to finish the witcher 3.
Its just dull and boring, all the side quests are exactly the same, combat lacks something I cant put my finger on, just feels off, has no punch. The story didnt drag me in. Open world is not good for every game, personally I am sick of them right now, open world over load

different strokes for different folks I guess. I seem to recall you saying something about putting like 200 hours into MGS V or something crazy, yet I struggled to hit the 15 hour mark - using your words, it did nothing for me. Yet I poured over 100 hours into The Witcher 3 and was thirsty for more after I finished.
I think no matter how good a game might seem to any one person, there will always be others who just cant get into it.

I like the trilogy, but I completely get where you're coming from. With each game, I really had to force myself to get into them in the beginning, as there was a fair amount that can contribute to a detracting experience. But once all the elements click, they become games that are very hard to put down.
Loved the fallout series. That said, as much as I tried to enjoy Fallout 4, it's just not happening. I am literally forcing myself to play it in hopes that I get to that point where I can justify owning it.
The Witcher 3 has forever changed the way I will look at open world RPGs from this point on. To me, it is a masterpiece, nothing less.
