I played Nightmare House 2 which was a half life 2 mod.

It was a complete story and required Half Life 2 episodes 2.

It also had custom textures, models and other stuff not from the half life 2 series.

Basically it did not resemble half life 2 at all except for a few weapons and the fps view.

That wasn't what the TC was talking about. What he wants to do is recreate HL2 with the Source SDK, but release it as a mod so people who haven't already bought HL2 can play it... which is why he questioned the legality of mods.

Or so how I interpreted the OP.

To make it legal you usually have to make it mandatory to have the SDK packs and other stuff from the original game that the mod is borrowing from.

And I can play a majority of those consoles on my PC at higher resolutions with AA+AF and with a variety of controllers.

All this on one PC.

I just popped in my old Panzer Dragoon disk from 1997 and it works fine on windows 7.

Also tried out Sega Rally.

PC gaming rocks. A list of games from over 30 years plus all the old consoles even the Wii.

And I can use a PS3 controller, Xbox 360 controller, wii mote and many other peripherals.

Thats great. But lets get one thing straight here. I know all about using emulators. I know that some work, some dont. I also know that you dont just put your old disc in and everything just works like magic.

This is what gets me about some pcgamers..they act like everything is just plugNplay. Go out buy or build a pc. Put in game and play away. It never goes like that and never will with pc. You always have to configure audio, video, controles, ect. AND its never as easy as just 1,2,3.

Yes a PC can do anything I want. They are great. Im on mine now. Im on mine when im not at work or doing other activities. Its great..BUT it will never win the videogame battle for me

It's a whole lot of work to copy a game like that. And if you did you couldn't use their characters or so. They are usually owned by the dev as well.
