Does this mean that during longer tracks (Nürburgring) that the game will pause mid-race and ask for a disc swap?

Jacumov
No, the extra disc is just extra content. You put it into your Xbox 360 once, install the content, and then boot the game from the first disc. That is the only time you will ever use the second disc.

That's all there is to it.

I highly doubt they ever said that, seeing as FFXI requires a hard drive install to be played. But, even if they did say that, Forza 3 doesn't require an install to be played so it's pretty much a non issue.

I'll clarify: You're not required to install the 2nd disc. It is optional. Therefore if Microsoft ever said that statement, it still holds true.

Just extra cars and extra tracks :| (If it were DLC then his point would stand even more. ) Its a part of the game that you NEED an HDD to play. Thats far from optional.

If you can play the game without installing the disc with the extra content, it's optional. That's the basic definition of the word.

Indeed. That's grasping for straws of the highest order. Wow. :|

Simply put, if you want to play Forza 3, all you need to do is pop the first disc into your console and play. The second disc is additional content that can be optionally installed. There's no getting around that.

You guys are ridiculous, you know that right? how else are you going to get that content? If you want it you have to install it. Now this is a much easier question.... when you buy the game, what are you paying for.. 2 discs or 1? Wouldn't you want to use the second disc for that content. How are you going to compete in those tracks online if you don't have it. If you honestly think that someone without an HDD is going to go on all fine and dandy when they cant play numerous tracks and different cars, then your on something.

You're being irrational. Yes, if you wanted to play the content on the second disc, you would be required to install it. Thank goodness that that's not what we're talking about! The second disc is a completely optional extra that includes additional content not needed to run the game. Look up the definition of the two and don't even try and fight me. Logic's on my side.

Nitpick all you like, it doesn't change the fact that Forza 3 can be played without the installation of the second disc and that said installation is indeed optional.

WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU NOT WANT IT? WHY? YOU PAID FOR IT? WHY WOULD YOU NOT WANT SOMETHING YOU PAID 60$ FOR? I DON'T SEE THE LOGIC? no really man, why would you not want it.

maybe some of those cars on the second disc doesnt interest some people, maybe they are casual gamers. Same could be said for any collectors edition. I bought gears 2 brand new, so i got the flashback map pack with it, but i had no use for them because i dont play gears multiplayer. I CHOSE not to play, or download them. The maps were not mandatory. Same could be said for PS3 games that REQUIRE installs, what if i had a 20g and ran outta space, then, would i be FORCED to upgrade?? no, i would have the OPTION of erasing some data

That's a pretty convincing rebuttal, but I'm not the one that committed the crime against logic. I recommend taking an entry level English course at your local educational facility to clear up any confusion that is still present about the matter. Or maybe I should be the illogical one and ignore your sarcasm and accept the fact that you agree with me? Because what you did is essentially the same caliber of fallacy.

Okay, if you're so intent on pursuing this. I'll ask you to do something for me. Look up "optional" on mirriamwebster.com, then tell me that this situation does not fit that definition.

Omg, you actually did it. Wow, you win. Just for thinking of an actual reason why someone would not want to play what they paid for. This is brilliant, and of course they don't want the cars on the second disc,.,seeing as they already know what they are. Its cool man, 20gb could run out of space grab a USB or move stuff to a different HDD. They have the technology. But whatever man, you win. Your right. Congratulations. I can't believe you did it. A reason why people would not use what they paid for.

No, the extra disc is just extra content. You put it into your Xbox 360 once, install the content, and then boot the game from the first disc. That is the only time you will ever use the second disc.

If I bought the game used and it waz missing the other second disk I could still play and beat forza for all achievment points. In fact it won't say i have to install the second disk to play the first so yes its an option no matter what. Do I want those tracks? Depends. Have you been given info what will be on the disk? How do you know you will want it so bad?

[QUOTE="opex07"][QUOTE="The_Game21x"] Are you seriously talking to yourself now? :|

The_Game21x

He was probably trying to respond with an Alt account.

If so, he failed pretty hard.

 I just noticed that... Wow... that's quite funny... :P Also, this eases me to here now. I wasn't sure what the second disc was, I thought it'd be like some tracks on disc one, others on disc two but all cars on both discs so you wouldn't be limited or something? Anywho, the game does look nice, I really wish I had the time to invest more for FM 2 but maybe I'll wait for FM 3.... bah if Mass Effect didn't steal my life right now I'd play it.. :P

Does this mean that during longer tracks (Nürburgring) that the game will pause mid-race and ask for a disc swap?

No, the extra disc is just extra content. You put it into your Xbox 360 once, install the content, and then boot the game from the first disc. That is the only time you will ever use the second disc.

Well arcade users are the ones who may lose out then, unless the data can fit on a memory card, but for those without HDD they will mis out on that content, like they will miss out on other bonus contents that have been available with CE games that came with bonus disc contents you had to download. (Extra gamer pics, levels, etc, recent game I own that had this was Gears of War 2 with the flash back map packs and some gamer pics and themes were in the Halo bonus disc and I'm sure a few other games had them as well too. FM 3 isn't the only game to do this.

Jacumov

Yes, the designers at Turn10 thought it was a very good decision to have to jerk you out of the game experience and have you get up and swap discs in the middle of a tight race. And you'll have to do it twice per lap.

I heard they're putting the disc swap right before the braking pointofMercedes-Arena curve on Nurburgring

Wait what? Did you just compare a full disk to some gamerpics and a few maps?

It's one of the few examples I have, but the maps in flashback you obtain for buying the game new with a code to redeem them is akin very much to the concept of the 2nd disk on Forza 3. That content isn't necessary, like it isn't necessary to download the new maps. Don't take it out of context, there have been other times when games came with bonus content that basically requires a HDD. If I'm not mistaken I heard that Burnout Paradise requires a HDD for online play, but I can't say for sure. There are some games even that perform better with an HDD. So for you to wonder why I bring in this, I'm only saying it's not a first for games to have content you can download from another disk and use in the game's main disc. FM 3 won't require the 2nd disc to enjoy, but it will have extra content. It could also be some gamer pics, themes, videos, or flash back tracks or cars. I don't really know but I hear you don't need to pop the 2nd disc in at anytime time to continue enjoying the game.

Hello. I recommend you purchasing a Hard Drive for your Xbox 360 if you wish to access the additional, optional content for Forza 3. If not, I can comfort you by stating that you won't be required to insert the second disc into your Xbox 360 at all, thus making Forza 3 essentially a one-disc game for you.

1.Please correct me if I'm mistaken(or if my argument is irrelevant), but does the Digital Copy for movies affect the price? What about movies that come with bonus disks? TheFFXII demothat comes withFF7ACC?If the answer is no, then I'm guessing that FM3's second disk is a freebie that was thrown in for those who want it and have an HDD.

2.The extra content is unnecessary nonetheless and you can play the game without it. As far as this game is concerned, their promise is still intact.

Ugh. Navyguy21 was right, you're trying too hard.

Nitpick all you like, it doesn't change the fact that Forza 3 can be played without the installation of the second disc and that said installation is indeed optional.

The_Game21x

riight

Yes, I am right. :| There's no disputing what I've said. This isn't a matter of what-ifs, it's a matter of what is and what isn't. Forza 3's second disc installation is optional and isn't mandatory. This is a fact.

Would be kind of stupid not to install it tho
