[QUOTE="KukicAdo"]Mass Effect 2 is PS3 bound, but probably not Day 1 w/ 360 and PC. dgsag

they'd need to get the first mass effect for that to happen.

Which wouldn't be too hard to pack in on one blu-ray disk, now would it? :)

i'm not doubting the physical possibility.

HELLO, MS published the first, maybe thats the reason why MS handed over the rights to EA because they knew ME2 needed part1 to get the best experiance out of the series and besides this is suppose to be a trilogy, so I assume you'll need the second to play the 3rd

Interesting commentary. Though if they're talking DA: O, then they probably should have used that graphic memory, the PS3 version looks worse than PC and performs worse, according to most reviews.

ME is much more story focused than Condemned and has lore...the story actually matters. If you were to play ME2 without first playing ME1 then you would have no clue as to what was going in. It would be like watching the 2nd Harry Potter/Lord Of The Rings/ Matrix...etc. without watching the first.

what does that have to do with why it's next to impossible that mass effect 2 will be coming to the ps3 unless it gets the first one? i'm not bragging about a feature here.

jus sayin, condemned series was really story driven and ps3 owners just jumped straight into the second one.

There's hardly any 360/PC only devs left that's why 360 has lost momentum.LiquidSnake1001

decisions made in the first game affect things in the second game...even which characters will be available. it's not just a simple matter of the series being story driven.

it's a trilogy. decisions and their effects carry through the whole thing. it's a highly touted feature. they wouldn't decide to simply ignore it.

By all means wait it out for a slightly upgraded but still superior version. I've got other games to get for PS3 in 2010 & didn't need Bioware to convince me to get the console. According to your logic it would make more sense for you to buy a gaming PC.

I really am proud of Bioware, they were able to make a good multiplat, you can tell the PC did not suffer from the consoles.

Also, I think the reason DA worked so well on PS3 is because its a very CPU heavy game. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually. i'd imagine it was 'cause of BLU-RAY!!!

DA:O on PC after installation is about 15Gigs, the 360's ancient DVD 9 has about 6.8 Gigs of space that can be used. The PS3 has ... well A LOT of space.

Due to this, textures on the 360 version were highly compressed, that's why they look of poorer quality then the PC/PS3.

The game actually runs slightly better then the PS3 version.

No. Bioware only hires super humans. They just released one of the best RPG's of the year, have Mass Effect 2 ready to go soon, and (maybe) The Old Republic by Holiday Season 2010?

well to destroy all of this ps3 vs 360 crap the interface on the PC is ten times better i tried it at a freinds house and the interface was a nightmare. especially when u have tons of spells and what not. And yes the game looks a lot better on PC and the interface is alot better so enough with this ZOMG bluri makes it better and what not. Both console versions are inferiror to the PC period, done, over with.

fact is thought that game seems to be awesome in both consoles. and when 8.5 is a bad score? its the m$ fans that are overeacting.

Well seeing as Big Brother ( EA ) tells them what to be pumped for and what not to be pumped for, this is not at all surprising. :P

Like others have said, M.E.2 just wouldn't make sense for PS3 since they have not done M.E. and hence no saved game file to continue into to M.E.2 - I dunno, we shall see.

Arguments from personal taste are invalid, comparisons can only be made with neutral evidence like AA/AAA/AAAA figures.

[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]

[QUOTE="Mr_Lube"] but looks at its AAAE list....Mr_Lube

the ps3 has 7 games that are or are above 9.0

the 360 has 8 games that are or above 9.0

i know but im saying LOOK at that 360 list of AAAE games, all those games are not appealing enough, especially compared to the AAAE list on the ps3.

That's pure opinion. Of all the PS3 exclusives, the only game I'd purchase is MGS4 and probably rent Uncharted 2.

I have to question their comments, why would there be spare graphics memory on PS3 unless they were needlessly underutilizing the system?

In terms of Vram 360 and PS3 run at the same speed; with the 360 being able to offer more or less than PS3 due to its pooled memory. A potential explanation would be for the 360 versions ram requirements exceeding 256mb, eating into their Vram budget and resulting in the reduced resolution textures we have heard about in the 360 version. Since PS3 ram is faster thanks to XDR memory; they can afford to swap information more often and hence store less in memory at any given time, enabling PS3 to run with only 256 while 360 may have needed more.

If 360 was the lead platform and PS3 was using 360s textures it would explain why there would be spare Vram. However I don't get the impression that 360 was the lead, from reviews it sounds like the PC version was the lead so PS3 wouldn't be limited by 360s textures. Reviews also talk about the PS3 version using better textures than 360, so it is possible it is using textures from PC.

If PS3 acquired it's textures from PC why underutilized the memory? Why not put the best textures on there you can get? A possible explanation is maybe they are the best textures; and PC Vram is being significantly underutilized in Dragon Age. They may have built the game with 256mb Vram PC systems in mind for console optimization, so the lower resolution on PS3 would leave Vram spare...

If this were true then Vram heavy tasks should have little affect on the performance in Dragon Age, as PC memory would be so underutilized that there would be plenty spare.

(taken from pcgameshardware.com)

Resolution, antialiasing and textures are Vram heavy aspects of visuals. As you can see a change in these details has very little impact on the performance with a 512mb Vram card like the 8800GT. This further suggests that the game is under utilizing Vram on PC, especially the tiny performance difference between low and high textures.

On the bright side it means you can crank up the resolution and AA on a fairly cheap card.

You forgot the fundamental purpose of RAM. RAM is for holding data temporarily for computational processes. Bioware made reference to dumping multiple threads on various processors. So it appears they were tighter on RAM before because they could only get so much of the data off at any given time, but with the extra processors, they can unload the data faster and thus have less need for RAM. ;)
