I hope this is just for Prologue. But it is disappointing that you can't modify your car, considering your paying money for this "demo." Anyhow, I am a GT fan, and I hope they progress the game more than the HD graphics and interior car view.

1up'spreview was less then enthusiastic. Here is the video:

theres actually know such thing as the most realistic driving sim, and there probably never will be. This is because car manufacturers will never want to show realistic damage to cars beyond a certain level. or am i wrong?

Instead of buying prologue, why not just pick up GT4 for $20 and save some money? It has more tracks and cars and features anyway.

Forza doesn't license hundreds of cars from hundreds of manufecturers.

Foza 2 gives you one model for each car and with that one model you can have thousands of versions of it. With all the engine parts, wheels, exterior add ons, paint jobs, and so on. GT gives you 30 civics, 40 accords and so on. Forza doe snot need 40 of the same model to pad their numbers because they allow the player to have a huge range of customaizing ability.

That right there gentlemen, wins Worst Post of The Day.

You can't just make up facts to back yourself up??

Gives you 30 civics, 40 accords and so on.

How in any way? Yes there are several cars of the same type, but from different year groups.

That takes up a minority of the 700+ cars which were on GT4...

Forza has like 30 cars *with plentiful amounts of mods as you so enviously suggest*. What you've said completely rules out what you said about Gran Turismo.

The cars which you claim on Gran Turismo are *all the same*, are there, because they've been modded and have different specs. You're claiming forza 2 is all high and mighty because you can Customize the same cars that you start out with. That's not even variety...

Okay then, I won't, I'll be generous and say that takes you down to 670 cars. Happy?

670 last gen.

30 This gen.

Ouch. Oh but sorry, I forgot, as your good pal says, there are wonderous amounts of mods for those cars. Have fun buddy.

One simple answer, because they give you all real models of one car, for example, there is alot of modified lancer evo, in real life, so in GT series, you have them all and you can also tune them up like in the real world, tune them for racing in tracks, not in street.

There is some arcady games I can tweak my car with, NFS: pro street and Forza 2, when it comes to racing simulaters, I want some real cars, exists in real life, not a car that I've created, my pick would always go with GT5.

Its only a matter of physics and crumple zone calculation, honestly Forza 2 was probably far off at a very small level but visually it wasnt that far off. Its only a matter of when.

It depicts their cars in a bad light, which is NOT what they want you to see when you're a potential car buyer. Hell, car makers are stringent on aftermarket customizations as well.

This is why only games like Burnout and others that use fictional cars allow for full, in-depth damage models (flipping the car on its roof, complete deformations of the chassis, etc.)

Because it could conceivably give the consumer a negative impression. Watching a car break into thousands of pieces after hitting a wall at high speed could give the impression that the car isn't safe. Stupid? Yes, but auto makers aren't willing to take the risk.

God, that is absolutely ridiculous. I wish developers could turn it around and tell them to build more durable cars.

Yeah ferrari's and mroe exotic cars will not have damage. Did you know if a lambo/ferrari/ well any exotic stalls on the side of the road. it has to be loaded into a truck where nobody can see it being towed. the fact of the matter is these companies do not want people to see half million dollar cars broken down and busted. its really bad for the image

Forza 2 had "damage". "Damage" meaning hitting a wall going 200 MPH and maybe ripping your fender off.

Heck, ripping of parts in all cars would have been nice. Most cars just dint in about 10cm and have lots of scratches.

Forza 2's damage is probably its most over rated portion. Luckily the gameplay is the best in any "sim" racer I've player.

As opposed to GT where you bump into cars at 200 MPH and no damage done to either car. Face it, GTA has more realistic damage then GT has...

That's one thing that has disappointed me about realistic racing sims. Crappy damage. A realistic driving game should have realistic damage. If I hit a car, spin out, and bounce off a wall, I want my car to be torn to pieces, not have the spoiler hanging off and a dented quarterpanel.

I would like to see the race actually be over at that point. Even on simulation damage (In Forza 2) you can head on crash at 300KM/H and your car can continue at about 10KM/H. I've never actually crashed a car at 300KM/H in real life.. but I would imagine that the car would be done for, along with the driver.

That said, I think the whole area of damage is where gaming is farest from being real at the moment. Even in Crysis destructible enviroments tends to just be a shed breaking into bits of tin, or palm trees falling over (no not normal trees.. just palm trees). I still think the best game as far as damage goes is Red Faction, which is from early PS2/xbox days.
