It was incredibly unbalanced. I played the online for about a month, and I was so turned off I never played it again.
Yes it is unbalanced. However...
Once someone goes GDI, any other race playing against it immediately their goal at hand is to delay them from upgrading into mammoth tanks. Because once they do, they'll definitely go for the railgun upgrade  and thats pretty much endgame. For the NOD, all you have to do is spam scorpian tanks, just keep doing it and the opponent will break due its cheapness.
This shows you haven't played the game very much. That was the "apparent" case in patch 1.04 of vanilla CnC3, although upper levels of play didn't adopt those tactics.
Scrin can utterly dominate GDI in lategame. Not to mention keep pushing with weak tier 1 units (Disintegrator, Seeker, Gun Walker) thanks to their versatility. Nod players use harassment to their advantage, as it was what the entire faction was built around and now does for the most part. Bike/pitbull rushing is now the prominent tactic thanks to the cost of harvesters and refineries.
And then the game continued to be boring, until the devs of the game all of a sudden released a stupid patch that redid THE ENTIRE BALANCE of the game for no reason at all, isn't that smart?
I agree with this. 1.05, then 1.09 almost made it a balanced game...then CnC:KW patch 1.01 completely destroyed any sense of balance whatsoever. The game got boring after 1.05 and until 1.09 it was dull to even think about playing.

EA has said that for the next game they will get a balance team together. They didn't even playtest CnC3 it seems. After putting 200+ hours into vanilla CnC3 (on 360 of all platforms; which EA wouldn't patch due to MS refusing to let them) and 40 hours into the expansion, as well as following all of the patches and developments on their site, I have to say the direction they're going in with the sequel isn't a bad one. By the looks of it, it will deviate from the traditional "scout, fast boom, rush" tactics of CnC. It could lead to one of the best RTS to be released this generation if executed properly.
