she is so right. GH4 is such a blatent rip off of Rock Band, how can they do this? The game looks exactly the same. the only improvment I see is the drumset, but it's still a rip IMO. I have no respect for GH now.

Chronogically which iteration of Guitar Hero is this? I sometimes forget.

Sometimes feels like Sims syndrome.

Well it does come with a track editor that so far... RB doesn't have.

However, what can you expect them to do? Seriously... you need to stay in competition...

Love the begining part we made a new game unlike any other the lady says I think its called Rock Band awkward pause Well we are calling it GH ON TOUR

Rock band is 10 times better in my opinon. Only complaint with RB is the guitar design. But overall I like it better. I feel that RB is much easier to get used to. I hope RB 1 and RB 2 crush GH On Tour. GH needs to stick to what the game is known for Guitars

The world tour mode in RB was amazing, and I mean amazing. I doubt that GH:WT will be able to top it.

And create a song just seems like a completeley tacked-on half-***ed feature, there's no way that it could turn out good. Battle of the bands is the only new feature in GT:WT that I think was missing from Rock Bands, but the style of RB looks so much better than the looks of World Tour. RB felt epic when playing world tour mode with your three best friends, WT looks like it tries to accomplish the same EXACT thing that RB did, and will it succed? Maybe, but I hope not

Does anyone here not realize that Rock Band was merely copying what Guitar Hero, Guitar Freaks, Drum Freaks, and any singing game out there have already done? Sure Rock Band brought them together first but still, the whole genre is about copying what someone else does well and making your own profit off of it. I won't look down on Guitar Hero for this considering the basic system used for Rock Band came from Guitar Hero, but Rock Band couldn't figure out how to make a good guitar for the life of them so I guess that's the major difference there.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Rock Band alot and have had a great time with so far, its a great party game and I love how its not so damn hard like the Guitar Hero series has become, however I find nothing wrong with Guitar Hero now attempting to steal back some of the thunder Rock Band stole from them. Just my two cents on it anyways.

Also, what will everyone think when Konami unveils their new Rock Group game that they are bringing back since they released Guitar Freaks and Drum Freaks in arcades so long ago?

The game isn't even out yet how can it be 10x better. I think GH4 will be much better then RB.

What else could they add? They already made the guitars and drums better, they have a mic. You wan't a piano? symbols? Come on... there isn't really anything fun left to play. Piano is the only decent one...

Yo8u don't know what your talking about.
HARMONIX CREATED KAROAKE REVOLUTION, GUITAR HERO , and ROCK BAND to name a few games. They didn't copy Guitar hero, it was there own IDEA!

Look into Harmonix.

The Whole Guitar Freaks thing, was konami's own fault for not getting it going outside of japan, especially on consoles.

Exactly, not much else they could do. And they are adding that studio element also, what do you bet the next Rock Band incorporates this also? It's called building on those before us. That's how anything really is.

I am sorry I should have clarifyed that better. I meant Rock Band the game compared to the othe Gh games. I dont really know how to explain it I felt RB helped you really get accustom to how each instrument was it was small incriments if you will from the different difficulties. GH I felt tried to throw too much at you on more difficult modes. Maybe that is just me. I think the new drum design is a great additon but I am not going out to buy GH4 when I have RB b/c I have heard the instruments are not compatable. I didnt mean to insult GH, I own both GH and RB I just feel RB is a better experience

Those are classic Harmonix Games only on PS2. My brother has them. Hes a big fan, thats why I know them.
They made Karoake Revolution for Konami, and Guitar Hero has been there mose famous franchise. Its a shame that ACTIVISION got its grubby mits on it, they are complete sellouts.

Now they got NEVERSOFT, the Tony Hawk Guys, making Guitar Hero. That's why GHIII was SO DIFFERENT, it was made by them.

The video should have showed more gameplay footage. From what I saw, the notes look exactly the same as GH2. If GH would polish its graphics a little more and then rid of the annoying squeaking when you miss a note, I might consider buying it. I never thought that graphics meant anything in a music game, but Rock Band looks and plays more smoothly.

No, It won't be. Did you even read this months Game Informer, a good quality Wireless Mic is WAY too expensive. Couldn't you tell by the video if you didn't read GI?

Go to a Bar to do some Karoake and ask the DJ how much Wireless Mics are.

the drums being wireless is the only difference.

Both Games have Wireless Guitars, and both games use Wired Mics.

Only improvement? You mean making your own songs and sharing them across the world is not an improvement? Finally having online band competitions isn't an improvement? Come off it.

Both Harmonix and Red Octane were thinking about band games before they split, Harmonix was first to market.

Its nothing different than any two FPS games. Yeah, they have the same concept, but it is what you do with it that makes the difference.

YOu can only make tunes, there will be no vocals in the songs you make. Still, at least its something.

The big thing to look at here, that NO ONE realizes is Activision is too greedy to make this aplatform game. There will be annual sequels to there new million dolllar baby.

because of this need to hoard music for the inevitiable sequel, that allows Harmonix to release songs EVERY WEEK, something GH has failed to do.

So buying this version is giving up a major stake in DLC, imo, based on activision's handling of DLC with GHII and GHIII.

You're right if I had rock band I would feel it would be a waste of money to get GH4. But since I do not I am going to get GH4.

Ask yourself this? If you didn't have RB, would you get GH4 or RB? Both are the same price.... I choose GH.

They arent the same PRICE, activisions greed allows them to charge more. Wrong about that one.

Anyways, What would I choose, if GH would become cheap as RockBand?

ROCKBAND

Because RB is made by the creators of GH, GHII, GHRock the 80's, Karoake Rev, and I want them to continue theie (Harmonix) vision.

Furthermore, RB has a TON of DLC out RIGHT now, and releases MUSIC EVERY WEEK. That is far more then we have seen from GHIII (The Tony Hawk Guys version) and we won't nearly see the same kind of support for the newwest GH either, because ACTIVISION likes to save some content for the NEXT GH.

GH has gone Annual, like MADDEN.

RB is a platform game, you get it, and your set. No need to worry about replacinig it.

If I didn' have RB, after doing research I would still buy RB. In your face Activision.

EA vs. Activision, who is worse?

That leaves me to go with NEVERSOFT vs. HARMONIX, and HARMONIX is the right choice, simply based on DLC alone.

GH has failed to do DLC because the developers have been doing GH: Aero and GH: World Tour. They even have apologized in interviews and said they plan on blowing people away with DLC.

Believe it or not, DLC is more profitable in many cases to making another iteration of the game.

As for the songs, I could not care less about no vocals. I don't sing in the games, and if I did, I would be playing SingStar or something else. I play RB and GH games for guitars and drums.

The singing is optional to me, and for there to be a platform where there is literally unlimited potential songs for free, I am definately in.

And battle of the bands is a huge feature. Nothing sucks more than having to break up a party to single players to play people online in Rock Band. That turns a great party game into way too much sitting around.

Well, I do sing, and I even bought a MIC stand so I could sing and DRUM or Sing and Guitar at the same time.

I don't play RB or GHIII online at all, as that kills the fun for me. ITs a great party game and a great singleplayer game, but I think GH and RB stink as Online games, due to there social nature, but thats just me.

Also, I have like 7 Bands saved off.

I am pretty sure no one here has ever played Frequency or Amplitude.

Get out and go play them.

kingman03

Amplitude in my PS2 right now. It's my favorite rhythm game ever, and synthesized is the most fun song to play in any rhythm game ever. For some reason that game is just so much more intense than GH. I guess it's because you have to be completely perfect in amplitude.

And a beautiful thing about GH4 is there is no need to create tons of bands just because someone wants to drum instead of sing, or what have you.

Seriously, I wanted to hate GH4 too. I really did. Then I read with an open mind, the Game Informer article about it, and I am very open minded about this game. Its like saying I love Halo, but I can love CoD4 as well. They aren't exclusive. You can get and like both, and both games bring new things to the table.

And I want GH4 so bad if only for wireless drums that don't suck (and yes, the RB drum kit is piss poor).

Did you buy DLC for RB? If so, what are you going to do?

Have two sets of Drums, 4 Guitars, etc?

It's getting crazy, but I do still have GHIII and bought some stuff for that too (Foo Fighters)

I sure did. Almost every available song for RB.

And soon I am getting SingStar on PS3.

And Yes, I will have two drums, 4 mics, 4 guitars.

Unless the GH4 drums are back compat with RB, then I will toss out the RB drums, and maybe the Fender guitar. That guitar is trash anyway.

It's kind of sad that activision has to resort to completely ripping off Rock Band to milk the freaking crap out of Guitar Hero. Move on already! Harmonix said **** you. It's time to do something different.

Here's the thing: When Guitar Hero 3 launched against Rock Band, it was still unique and different. It could differentiate itself because it was a guitar-focused game. Rock Band was a co-operative experience, while Guitar Hero was a solo experience. People want different things from their games, and they get them that way.

But if Guitar Hero 4 feels like it has to follow Rock Band in having guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, then there's nothing distinct about the two games. Rock Band is more of a platform in terms of DLC, I guess, and Guitar Hero 4 has the create-a-song feature that could turn out well, or might not. But the games still come out very similarly in terms of the general play experience. Guitar Hero has to compromise certain distinct song choices it could make and things like that, because it and Rock Band are now directly competing in every way. Throw Konami's Rock Revolution into the mix, and you have a total cluster**** in terms of band-based music games, each with their own set of peripherals that likely won't be cross-compatible.

I don't own Rock Band, but I'd probably get it before Guitar Hero 4, because I liked Harmonix's charts more in what I've played of Rock Band than what I've played of Guitar Hero 3. On the higher difficulties, Guitar Hero 3 just feels excessively punishing, even when it's playable, whereas Rock Band isn't always easy, but it's fun and feels fair. I also don't like what Activision has done with the franchise, what with the upcoming Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Edition, and what will likely be a number of upcoming spinofs.

All my friends have Rock Band so I saw no point in getting it. I'll probably get GH: World Tour because my friends won't since they have Rock Band, lol.
