Some IPs should die (or at least take a break) others should never have been made...

But which IP's truly need a defib paddle laid on their chest and brought back into the spot light?

My vote goes to:

Star Control (a real sequel to the amazing 2 - 3 was an abomination)

Archon

Dungeon Keeper

Altered Beast

Space Harrier

Jet Set Radio

Pretty much all of Sega's prize worthy IPs that ruled the arcades gave Nintendo a run for its money in the console market during the Genesis days.

Game On....

Reading the topic title I thought for certain the thread would be about Altered Beast !!

I think I read a few weeks ago about a new Star Control in the works or something to that effect.

Seconded.

I first played SC when I got the three games box, and I played a lot more SC2 than SC3. Last year I got lucky to find about to find the Ur-Quan Masters project here in gamespot.

I am going to do some digging - I hope you are right. I personally think they need to make SC2 for Live Arcade...Awesome single player adventure and great Multiplayer battles.

I would love if BioWare did an MDK3 and if Monolith did another No One Lives Forever. But I'm sure neither will happen.

Colony Wars

Crimson Skies(still lingering, not actually dead)

I want a flight-sim(arcade or not) on a console system I can play online. Ace Combat 6 is fun, but the online is so repetitive.

Thanks for the heads up...I actually found the founders website and was amazed that they are still in business (Free Fall Games). What I didn't know was the one of the founders of Toys for Bob (Star Control) Paul Reich was part of the team responsible for Archon...interesting.

I really thought this thread would be about Altered Beast when I read the title. As for games, I'd like to see these come back: Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Skies of Arcadia, Lufia, Phantasy Star (actual RPG), Chrono Trigger, Shining Force, Gunstar Heroes, Gemfire, 7th Saga, Super Mario RPG, Demon's Crest, Earthbound, Inindo, Rez, NFL 2k series, Killer Instinct, Marvel vs Capcom, NBA Jam, Ogre Battle, and so many more I can't even think about right now.

http://www.novalogic.com/DFAF/angelfalls.htm

That's a new Delta Force game. The Delta Force games were more about a single player campaign with multi-player thrown in. Joint Ops was about multi-player 50 KM sq maps with 150 people on it at once. I don't know if Angel Falls will fit that bill.

The clan I played with on BF2 was an old Joint Ops clan...they would go on and on and on about that game. I never played it.

Jet Force Gemini comes to mind. Though, it would be going to the 360, which I don't own.

Bloody Roar needs to make a much stronger impact. It's a neat series, but it just dropped off the radar.

Robotech (Yes, I know it's an anime). I loved Battlecry, but I want there to be some better games.

That's all I can think of for now. But I'm sure there are plenty of others which I could name.

I agree I will also add Marvelous Another Treasure Island and Nazo no Murasamejō But release them in other regions then just Japan. Because both would've been great outside of Japan.

What the hell happened to the Mech franchise? The last Mech game was released FOUR farking years ago for the Xbox. Granted, it was horrible, but it still sold well I think. This generation is seriously lacking some quality city-destroying, tank-stomping robot action, and if there's one franchise that usually nails those things beautifully, it's the MechAassult/Warrior games. So...what's the deal?

I think that because the video game industry is so massive and profitable now everyone is either looking to develop/sell casualware hits or mega titan blockbusters...MechAssault and a lot of the other titles mentioned previously probably fall too far in the middle...However, I think the Mech games have more of a chance than most.

the last REAL mech games came out in 2002. MechAssault was junk. Mech Warrior were the real games imho. I'd give my big toe for a sequel to the MechWarrior franchise... unfortunately i think one of the ex-FASA employees has the IP :(

Legend of Dragoon, Double Dragon, Final Fight, River City Ransom, and Mutant League Football are a few games that deserve sequels or future installments in my book. In case you can't tell, I'm a fan of beatemups.

Decry Mechassult 2, but do not speak such blaspheme towards the first. Yes, the MechWarrior series is much better,,but the first MechAssault was pretty awesome as well.

Mechwarrior = Nowadays the only new mech action i can get on my PC is from indie games.

Wing Commander = I remember I dicovered this series playing the SNES version and it was awesome.

Prey = I loved the you never die gameplay(which it totally ripped from soul reaver but i dont care), and the wacky change of perspective thing.

Crimson Skies/Comanche = I just want a new arcade flying combat game that doesn't suck.

From MW wiki:

In March 2003, it was announced that Mechwarrior 5 had been canceled. There has yet to be any official word on future titles in the series. However in October 2007 the startup company Smith and Tinker, created by Weisman, acquired the right to the Mechwarrior series as well as other notable FASA franchises (namely Crimson Skies and Shadowrun). It is currently unknown what future plans the company has for these properties.

But if we are talking about old/dead games that i'd like to see come back, probably Road rash. I'm think moto GT graphics and handling on cool road stages and baseball bats

Well, at least they're not owned by a company that's completely defunct (FASA) :P I hope they actually, you know, do something with the IP.
