A whole year+ of stockpiling old hardware, go from a solid core audience, to competing with the king of console casuals, Nintendo... There's no way (if they were to be doing something this stupid) that it'd be good hardware, they'd want to wait 'til a smaller processes, cheaper and less power required, more reliable.

If sony are going to pull what MS did in 05 with the 360 it would be pretty funny.... As no one really is expecting a home console from Sony in 2012.

That doesn't mean they won't release a new console within those 10 years. With both their previous consoles they kept getting new games for a while alongside their successors.

I wouldn't put it past them. I'd say they really learned a lot from the ps3 launch. coming in a year after the 360 (during which the 360 was racking up games) and offering relatively little for such a high price killed their launch sales. they may be looking to avoid that again now that the Wii U has been announced for 2012 by launching the ps4 in the same time frame with a competitive price.

If Sony releases behind M$ again, they're going to be in trouble IMO. They will temporarily lose that attention of the hardcore crowd. They'll probably release a 360 with kinect for 149.00 and capture the lions share of the casual market. This scenario would mean serious trouble for Sony and they know it. They will release along side of the new Xbox.

It will retail at $5999.99

No company in their right mind would produce 20 million consoles right away without testing the waters with how popular their product will be. If your products bombs you wasted hundreds of millions producing consoles that would never get sold.

Lets see here..In the US our economy is about equal to the great depression in the 30s. "or 20s" whenever it was..:)...zero jobs,foreclosures every day,bankruptcy every day,all of our work is being outsourced..NOW the President is fixing to hold money from us tax payers, disability,retirement,ect just to try and make up for some of the TRILLIONS that we're in debt for...LOL..

Right now...I would say EVERY console developer should hold still. I wont be buying anything any time soon..AND they better be happy if I even buy the 4-5 games Ive been wanting sometime this year.
