Another Zelda game from Nintendo, color me unimpressed. After playing the uninspired and drag TP, I'll probably let this one pass. Zelda has been around for decades, time to give it a rest Nintendo, you're a creative company, new IP please. HoolaHoopMan

Nintendo would be burned at the stake the day they announce they're killing off Zelda.

Considering it's an AAA-quality franchise that sells millions was one of the most eagerly anticipated games at this E3, they'd be idiots to give it a rest because one guy on a forum is tired of it.

i got a pretty nasty fright with the presentation. there was a very ambitous game about 10-11 years ago called die by the sword. it tried the whole 1:1 sword fighting but it was a bit of a sloppy mess. very ambitous game (and its only really being realised now) but not great. that game came flooding back with the demo and i thought "oh no....they just broke zelda". clearly that would be unacceptable for any game..but for a zelda game even more so. reports are coming in thick and fast though stating that it was just technical issues with the demo wiimote and that the game itslef is fine when the setup is correct. good to hear. so controls sound good. fighting is definately getting an overhaul which is great (bringing some of the WSR sword fighting into it....good call). some of the new items were certainly interesting. that flying bug thing could be a laugh. the game looks lovely also. WW reminds me clearly of a cartoon but ZSS reminds me a bit more of a pastel drawing or something. its very nice. sounds nice too. if thats midi music then dam have they updated there midi library :P. overall im eager to get my hands on it. there still alot of questions to be asked but good overall. im liking the changes.

[QUOTE="Thunderdrone"][QUOTE="IronBass"]I read the graphics are still in an early stage, so we'll be seeing some significant upgrades.IronBass
Where did you read that?

Now I can't find it again, which makes me feel lame >_>

It wasn't official. I think it was just some comments from guys at IGN, so a site like that, where they think they are still early. They are wrong however imo and I don't see the graphics changing much at all from what we are seeing in this playable demo. Show me one playable demo of a Nintendo game where the graphics improved/changed significantly from the time it was in playable demo form to the time it released and I'll believe it's possible the graphics could change and improve even more before release...

Look at the Kotaku hands on in the first post. The video shows that they were definitely just having technical issues.

I'm pretty sure the midi music is just a place holder. If it's anything like SMG2 they'll orchestrate over it (I hope)

There's one on the first page from Kotaku and another one Thunderdrone posted a few pages back.

It's relieving that the stage demo was just interference, the game seems to control beautifully. :)

Great thread Thunderdrone!

  • Glad to see hands on impressions positive with the controls after that disappointment during the conference
  • I love the art style. it really is a mix of WW and TP.
  • The trailer was epic. I thought the music was orchestrated in the trailer.

Overall I can't wait and look forward to hear more about it.

It was obvios from the begining that it was interference due to the way the aimer seemed to jump alot. Nintndo wouldnt be stupid enough to show off a game with broken controls, they would use pre-recorded footage and have someone pretend to be playing it.

Seriously, it's Nintendo. It was interference. They wouldn't have been showing the game if it had faulty controls lol. People try to downplay every little detail. Just stop, and put your hype meter to the maximum because next year it's gonna be the GOTY.

If you don't like it, go praise how good MS was or something and let us enjoy this fantastic game, but most importanly the year that redefined gaming, thanks to Nintendo.

Even still, it's hard to be excited when the demo is that glitched. I wish they had been able to properly show it off.

Also it is live anything could happen when it's live like when Reggie made a small mistake when he was introducing the guy from Junction Point that came onstage with Warren Spector he said the Producer of Disney's Epic Disney instead of Disney's Epic Mickey. But it was live and anything can happen.

I think that had to do with Reggie not feeling well, you could hear it in his voice and also he looked abit tired. It was unfortunate because I was looking forward to hear him even more enthusiased than he was in 09

From GAF:

Nintendo used Halogen Lights between the screen at the bottom of the stage and the stage itself, which they did not at rehearsal. The idiots did not check what this would do to the Wii Pointer.

They also apparently forgot to turn the TV to game mode.

it's zelda. I won't say anything bad about it until I play it. What I see seems charming and I just hope it isn't too easy. Accessible to everyone is fine but the hardcore base needs higher difficulty to stay interested. Maybe difficulty levels is for the best. (if the rumours are true)

That and the wireless interference or lack of proper connection. The sword was jumping around and that's controlled by the gyro and accelerometer so it wasn't only the pointer being messed up. The whole thing was kind of painful to watch, but it was clear that the controls were actually not as bad as it was shown.

I love the Mario Galaxy-esque art design. It serves as a great middle ground between the full-on cartoon vibe of Wind Waker and the "realistic" look of Twilight Princess.

Enthusiasm for Reggie is dancing on stage to the mario theme while drinking coca-cola. So im glad he wasnt up for it

not counting the difficulties, i am dissapointed with the new Zelda, seems like another version of whatever they've done before. ugly midi like music and the combat doesn't look fun. they shoud've focused on the game instead of trying to force the Wii Motion Plus all over the place. That said, we'll see what happens in 2011

You are simply making up the MIDI thing, and the controls are nothing like the on-stage demo. NEXT!!!!

I really like the look of it. The art style is awesome. And it looks like it plays well too. I was saying before E3 it'd be neat if we could actually do our own sword moves in the new Zelda, and Nintendo replied "Well guess what, you can". I like it. Definitely looking forward to it.

Anyone happy about Zelda going with motion control instead of a conventional controller setup will be disappointed when this thing comes out. Zelda was the flop of the press conferences for me.

And you're not? That's the point of these conferences - to judge them.

[QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"][QUOTE="Thunderdrone"]Jesus christ , i'm looking at Kirby Epic Yarn and....wow, talk about inspiring gameplay and art.Thunderdrone

Yeah. I don't normally dig platformers, or Kirby games in general. But they managed to get me really interested. Same with DK.

No Epic Mickey love?

Just look at this

Well yes Epic Mickey was good. I was just pointing out I generally don't like platfomers, but Nintendo got me interested in two of them. Unless Epic Mickey is a platformer? It looked more akin to action/advnenture with platforming elements (like Okami).

There were too many good games to mention everything of interest.
