With Soul Calibur 6 on the horizon, I've been replaying the series. And what a great series it is. My opinions of how they rank shuffles around somewhat, but II is always at the top of my list. Really though, there isn't a dud in the bunch. Edge is a bit dated, but still plays well. III is kind of glitchy and doesn't play as smooth as the others, but is packed with stuff and one of the best looking games on PS2. V lacks content but plays great and has one of the best character creation toolkits you'll find in a fighting game.

I have more fun with the worst Soul Calibur than I do with the best Tekken.

Of all the SC games I played over the years and I do love fighting games, here is my rank:

3. SC3
4. SC: Broken Destiny (PSP) and I like Kratos as the guest character in it
5. SC4
6. SCV
7. Edge/Blade (Really outdated, it needs a remake badly)

Though I'm surprise you didn't play SC: Broken Destiny and for a handheld SC game, it handle itself pretty good at it's time.

Whichever one has the best animation of Ivy’s tits wins.

I’d rank Broken Destiny on PSP lower than SC4. Better than poop but not a great SC game due to the lack of content. It’s a decent portable fighter.

Everything after that is trash. Don't know why this series isn't dead yet.

II - Still the best SC game by far. Link is still the best guest star as well (please put the HD version on Switch, and get all three guests).

IV - I actually like the Jedi/Sith guest stars and it was the last one to have decent single player content.

V - Disappointing single player content, but Ezio kicks ass. Steady character customization too.

Soul Blade/Edge - Aged like crap. Makes Goldeneye and Perfect Dark more playable.

I found Spawn to be more fitting than the other guest characters due to Necrid. I wonder whom the guest character of a Dreamcast Soul Calibur II would be. I was into Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution and Final Showdown when Soul Calibur III and V came out. They stood no chance.
