Rare still makes great games its just for whatever reason noone buys them.Maybe its because the majority of people that have 360s are older and dont care about making gardens or building a car with a bear and chicken. Then again perfect dark 0 didnt sell and it was aimed at adults.I also dont think that microsoft promotes these games the way they should. Not saying a banjo game should get the same promotional muscle behind it as halo but i believe they could have done more.
Wow at your replies.. It sounds like you've made no attempt to even play the games your bashing. They've all been well received by critics. Personally I think they're worth playing at least.[QUOTE="waynehead895"][QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]
I for one think you're WRONG.
What has Rare given this gen?
Perfect Dark Zero (people said it was bad.), Viva Pinata (Looks uber lame, seriously you just make Gardens?) , Kameo, Nuts and Blots (a horrible excuse of a Banjo Kazooie Game.), Banjo Kazooie and Tooie Re-Release, Perfect Dark Re-Release.
Is that good?
LegatoSkyheart
I'm not going to play Gummi Ship 2.5 and Bolts, Perfect Dark Zero I will try out eventually. Viva Pinata looks uber lame (this is a no different arguement to people taking a look at Wii Games and not being interested at all.). Kameo I have said nothing bad about, it reminds me of Beyond Good and Evil almost.
So you've played none of them but are bashing them nonetheless? Pretty sure you argue against people who do that for Wii...no... PDZ sold prety well, something like 1.5 millionRare still makes great games its just for whatever reason noone buys them.Maybe its because the majority of people that have 360s are older and dont care about making gardens or building a car with a bear and chicken. Then again perfect dark 0 didnt sell and it was aimed at adults.I also dont think that microsoft promotes these games the way they should. Not saying a banjo game should get the same promotional muscle behind it as halo but i believe they could have done more.

PDZ's 9.0 score is nothing but a number. The actual game was a huge disappointment and I think all but the most dedicated lemmings have accepted that. Giving it a 9.0 was a major missfire on Gamespot's part, since at best it deserved an 8.0 (a 7.5 seems appropriate to me, though).Timstuff
And so is MGS4. AAAA for that was an even bigger misfire imo. The thing is whether i like it or not, thats what the game scored, and AAA is what PDZ scored, so let it go.
[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]A great game is the final nail? :? Some people were disappointed it wasn't another Mario 64 clone. I thought it was one of the best games this generation and incredibly enjoyable. But then again, I don't hold N64 Rare on a golden, diamond-encrusted pedestal, so I was never really open for disappointment. I also love how all of Rare's games this gen are criticized SOLELY because they aren't like the ones from the N64 days. To me, that is one of the silliest arguments in favour of a criticism I've ever come across. It would be like criticizing modern shooters for not being enough like Doom, despite them being good games in their own right. Rare seems to be much like Sonic or the Zelda series... not matter what they do, it will never be enough for N64 Rare fanboys.Rare is dead. The Final Nail was Nuts and Bolts.

Yeah apart from PD0 I love their games this gen. Viva Pinata in particular is like playing a Pixar movie :D
Ironically I *am* one of those Rare N64 fanboys, I put them on a platinum pedastal :P
But even so I can recognise the quality and creativity of their games this gen.
It's funny if they made a direct Banjo 3 sequel it'd be called a rehash... And yet the new gameplay is "destroying the series"...
I dunno people are nuts sometimes !
Hmm.... I wonder why they would say that... OH RIGHT. Because their old games were amazing and when they try and make a sequel they suck in comparison because they simply cant make games as good as banjo kazooie, Banjo tooie, perfect dark, Conkers Bad Fur Day or diddy kong racing ... or anything

.....or could it be that those games aren't favored by the 360 audience? or maybe it could be that MS doesn't want them to bring back any new IPs just giving suggestions :)Hmm.... [QUOTE="Karnage108"][QUOTE="Mestitia"]Even funnier is people are crying about it 4 1/2 years later. It was actually a really good game at the time and it's not like it was a great year for gaming anyway.. The game has an 81 Metacritic. it's a 5 year old low AA launch game, it's incredibly outdated. Just saying... 360 fans like to throw around the it's AAA top quality game, but when you look closer it really isn't. This is system wars, we use GS scores. PDZ = AAA here.lol at people bragging about PDZ rofl.

We have voted on this before and the use of aggregate sites such as Metacritic or GameRankings won (GS is involved with both). I understand it isn't conducive to your point of view on this particular topic but when discussing something as subjective as opinion it is best to use a consensus.

I think what is, is that a lot of devs every generation come out with a fan favorite remakes or new ones all together, whether it be Mario, Halo, Zelda, MGS, I mean you name it. Most signature series from Devs or MS, Nintendo.always come out on a new console offering better graphics, better everything from the last one. Rare really hasn't done that except tease the hell out of fans with their christmas cards and what may have you. I think its more of getting under peoples skin then the actual games. I mean for me personally KI3 would be huge, and when I saw it on the stocking of the christmass card I thought it was a no brainer this game was coming out. I'm sure the same thing goes for fans of conker, battletoads and so forth. These are great series that have been left in the dark for games that are decent but no where near the stature of the games I mentioned. I think what made rare huge were the games I mentioned, not because of natal. I don't know we will see, they say this generation is going to be a long one. That being said I could be jumping the gun here.Rare is dead. The Final Nail was Nuts and Bolts.

Thats not it at all, Rares quality has dropped significantly from the N64 days, you cant honestly say that Nuts & bolts was better than the original Banjos or that Perfect Dark Zero was a step forwards for the series.
Your shooter/doom analogy is bad. Shooters dont get critizised for not being like Doom because shooters have evolved and improved on the Doom formula and it is irrelevant to the argument, we are comparing Rare today to Rare of the past. Most companies improve on their franchises or offer better gaming experiences than what they offered 10 years ago but not Rare, they've gone backwards if you compare the quality of their N64 releases to whats on offer today. Back then a Rare game was a day 1 purchase because you knew it would be quality, today, sadly its not.
If expecting Rare to deliver the kind of gaming experience they offered 10 years ago makes me a fanboy then so be it, i'd rather be a fanboy than accept mediocre efforts today from a dev that was one of, if not the best during the snes/n64 era.
I guess i shouldve checked my facts mayceVbefore i said that perfect dark 0 didnt sell well.Anyways i just figured because thier had been no mension of perfect dark since that it didnt do well.Still it wasnt a blockbuster but didnt better than what i thought. As far as rare goes why havent they released a new killer instinct?Wasnt that game really popular back in the day?Maybe its because the market has been flooded with so many bad fighting games that they just dont wanna pile on.If they do make another killer instinct i hope they think it through and come out with something similar to what they had but with some new feature and great gameplay to keep it fresh.Right now though i think capcom has the market cornered on fighting games, especially with marvel vs. capcom coming out.
yeah PDZ wasn't as great as MS hoped or w e would have seen a sequel. yeah and I'm suprised that Rare keeps saying that they aren't making KI3 ATM, despite the painstaking amount of teasers.I guess i shouldve checked my facts mayceVbefore i said that perfect dark 0 didnt sell well.Anyways i just figured because thier had been no mension of perfect dark since that it didnt do well.Still it wasnt a blockbuster but didnt better than what i thought.
