In the Scribes section of Rare's website, there a question dealing with speech in Banjo-Threeie. Here it is, along with the response.

Now that it's safe to assume that Banjo-Threeie, Three-Kazooie, Threeie-Threeie, or even Banjo is Back! is deep in development, maybe two things can be answered- will the traditional gibberish be dumped for full spoken dialogue, and why have the characters been redesigned to look like they stepped out of Madagascar?"

RARE SAID TO THAT

Answer

Banjo: "We are still mulling over the speech. The original idea behind the gibberish was to avoid having speech, but it has become part of Banjo's appeal and something that I am reluctant to let go just because full spoken dialogue is considered the norm these days. Regarding the look of the characters, we felt that the decade-old look belonged in a different era and needed bringing up to date."

So what would you want to see in the new Banjo?

Keep the series charm with no spoken dialouge and have garbbled speech

or

Bastardize the series with Voice Acting.

I see no point in bastardizing it. Voice acting is cool, sure, but when it sucks or is out of context, it does more harm than good.

I can't imagine Banjo Kazooie with voice acting, so I vote for gibberish.

**Edit:

I had a thought. Perhaps Grunty, and  the villains could have voice, but leave Banjo & Kazooie in gibberish; however, I would also like them to talk a whole lot less, yet make grunts whenever they need to.

I have waited seven years for this game, and the Banjo-Kazooie series are my favorite games of all time.

There is 1 "care" for you.

Okay, but if Grunty has a voice, she needs to talk in rhyme again. I hated when here sisters made her stop.

i prefer gibberish, it makes games stand out. why are Rare thinking they have to be like everyone else, when, in reality, that's why their games sell? kameo, viva pinata... they were kind of different, and people embraced that. i say stay as different as possible to stand out from the pack.

I guess if it affects gameplay I would prefer voices I could understand. I never thought too much of the first game. It seemed a little boring and confusing.

Star Fox Lost the Gibberish and no one cared. Even though I still quote the Gibberish from the SNES Star fox, it didn't stop SF64 from being great. So I really don't care what they do with the voice acting.

But the SNES couldn't handle too much audio dialoge. I think BK3 should keep gibberish. But I wan't them to change Banjo's new look....he looks like some retarded mutant that was smashed in the face with a shovel repeatedly.

Voice acting in games tends to lessen the experience, cuz most voice actors that get work for video games, suck @ it!  and besides is Banjo, voice acting would just seem weird somehow..... I'll take the gibberish... I can read, and don't mind doing so.

I don't care. Just make the game good, this is one of my most anticipated 360 titles, this will make or break Rare, they haven't made an amazing game for 6 years. Even though Viva Pinata and Kameo were great they are below the standards Rare have set themselves.

For this kind of game, they need gibberish. I didn't like to see PDZ and Kameo with voice acting.

Voice-acting takes the imagination out of things

They better not put in full voice acting...

As for the graphics....The new look doesnt effect me at all.

I just wish that they would release more info, its driving me crazy.

This is my most anticipated game of the year, possibly of all time and i hope Rare does it right.

They should keep the gibberish. If they do have voices, they will probably be the stereotypical "Duh, which way did he go George?" voice for Banjo and a high, squawky voice for Kazooie.

The gibberish is so hilariously absurd and that added a lot to the charm of the game. How would they translate that into voice acting. I can't imagine it working very well.
