Rare VS ID software

Which game company is better?

Rare is terrible now and ID is decent this gen, but all time?

Oh ok, I'll play along. I prefer Rare, cause they made Donkey Kong Country. Id Software is probably the better company though.

This gen I would say RARE considering all iD have done is Quake live.... great free game btw :D Also Rare has not been bad, but nothing great. PDZ,Kameo,Viva pinata, and Banjo kazooie were all good game.

Now? Or when RARE was at their peak?

Anyway's RARE is a sad joke now.

Rare.. And I say that simply because of all their games released between 1994-2001, even vs. all of ids games they've ever made

ID takes too long to develope games and for the past decade it has been nothing but disappointment really.

Now? ID, back in the day? Rare.

Back in the day, Id were innovators, Rare were copycats.

These days, Id still haven't released a game, Rare are copycats.

So, I'm going with Id.

I accidently voted Rare, I think ID was better than Rare even at their peak, Rare made some of the most fun games ever, ID made some of the most revolutionary games ever.

ID pretty much invented the modern FPS. They also invented deathmatch, created engines that were used several years after their releases, and constantly tried and usually managed to raise the bar in graphics and overall visuals.
ID were a lot more influential, although Rare also made very well received and influential titles.

Old Rare>ID>New Rare.

id Software. When they made Quake 3 Arena, they practically made an engine that was standard for the industry at the time. It surprises me that it still stands the test of time despite newer id Techs.

Also, they made Quake, a shooter that game developers these days should learn from rather than trying to be Call of Duty.

I choose ID. Rare hasn't been the same, their first games that were released on 360 were still great and kameo > doom 3 but what they create now is just not comparable to the quality ID keeps producing and Rare used to produce.

Both are very different companys but I'll say like this:

Game quality and variation: old Rare (untill they got bought by MS).

Game technology and multi-player: id Software.

Can you elaborate? Because you could also say that the only really innovative game id made was Wolfenstein 3D while Doom and Quake were just Wolf 3D in new graphics engine ;)

Rare made awesome, groundbreaking titles like PDZ, Conker, Donkey kong adventure etc.

However now, and these are their words not mine "We are currently focused on motion controlled sporting glory"

Rare created the gretest game of all time, ID created a genre that's been used to death, my votes Rare. (Though they're crap now)

I hate Rare. I don't like it's furry games.

It's easily, easily, id, even today, without Romero and Hall.
