Didn't bother going through this thread, since I knew it was bullshit from the start - the voting is still ongoing. Plus, I don't really care about the awards stuff anyway.
Anyway, here's a couple of quick and easy confirmations that this is an obvious hoax so we can move on with our lives:
This is not true/accurate, I’m not sure if image was doctored or not. The website has no knowledge of the jury voting anyway, so no way it would know “winner”

Dang…some people on this app can be so embarrassing at times. Btw for all the conspiracy theorist out there you can edit HTML to say whatever you want very quickly. The 2nd picture is an example of it. #TheGameAwardspic.twitter.com/NdXMyW9HXw

Returnal is the best game and Ratchet, while a solid play isn't close. Though the best case scenario by far is that It Takes Two wins. For one, it's probably the second best game this year but most importantly Josef Fares giving a GOTY will be a great thing to see!
Seems like an ok game, not amazing or anything, but good. Considering what other games exists though, R&C is a very unworthy winner.

Won't win awards, because they don't pay there bills.
And you have to actually play games to know stuff like this. Exactly what most people who vote don't.
To be fair though, an unfinished game should not win GOTY. Doesn't matter that Valheim is better in its current unfinished state than many finished games. It's still not done and shouldn't win anything, unless the category is "best early access game" or something.
Sony absolutely dominating the quality exclusives market for more than a decade aside (5 out of 6 GOTY wins being Sony)
...
A year where R&C:RA wins GOTY is an extremely shitty year. I've said this since the start, 2021 is one of the worst years in gaming history, even though I have the console that won the year (R&C:RA, Deathloop, two best games...)

@SolidGame_basic: I just found it to be funny that's why I responded .. do I care? No, not really ..
I am a fan of Metroid and I'd be happy if it won, but if I want to be honest with myself, I believe It Takes Two is really the game that deserves to win this year because it brought to the table some new and interesting gameplay and it was a blast to play through with a friend .. maybe you should try it if you haven't ..

And that's why the awards are useless.
It's basically sony sponsored websites favoring sony sponsored games, and making rules where games can only be reviewed in complete states which most of PC games never are as they are always evolving products like for example league of legends which from that review state would be a 2009 game. If they made every single year a new league of legens and call it 2 / 3 / 4 with updates, only then it would be taken into account. This excludes basically most of the PC market and online markets even while they are gigantic.
On top of that, most sony gamers get in contact with games from sony on those websites as they are active on it, pc games are not for the simple reason as u don't see games like they are billiosn even covered years later because "early access" by most of those outlets, only really rare games are taking into account which means that even when they are completely release state ( which never happens ) its already multiple years old then and skipped.
This makes those websites for PC gamers completely useless as they will be sitting at steam reviews rather then any other site.
For example R&C sold 1,1m copy's in its first month, valheim sold 5 million copy's in its first month and its very much a complete product that will keep on evolving. It's also one of the highest steam rated games with more then 250k reviews which is impressive. Specially when it has 200k if not more reviews something sony games often lack completely. Yet no mention in this award show from it.
Then lets look at R&C, not many people in the entire gaming market have a PS5, and its only on the PS5 and it doesn't even sell that hot or gets played that much even on there own playlist statistics. So how can a game like that win? when u got all those other games that get played and sells way more ( league has 100m players, makes more money every year then entire R&C does in its first year ) has stadiums build for it and trailers are seen in the 100+ million? specially when u have far more tech pushing games out on top of it.
It's pretty easy to see that this is what is happening with those award shows. they are completely catered towards sony type of games, evolving awards around old school single player releases something that isn't even relevant anymore in todays age sponsored the ones that provide them.
Yeah, I think its objectively clear that if Ratchet and Clank ends up winning GOTY, it will have a permanent asterisk affixed to that title.
When the highest rated and most popular game all year (until Halo), than many reviewers called a "masterpiece" and "best racing game ever", but didn't nominate, but you found a way to nominate a moderately good mid-80s game everybody stopped talking about after 2 weeks, I just cant bring myself to take it seriously, lol.
Can we talk about the fact that in the span of 2 weeks, Xbox has released 2 games that have each overtaken Warzone, Fortnite, Apex, and GTAV (the largest games in the industry) as the most played games on Xbox, and dominated the Steam charts, #3 steam concurrent users every night for the past 10 days, and had the #1 viewership on Twitch 2 nights ago?
There are PS content creators I watch (even "pony" ones) who have posted more hours of Halo Infinite Gameplay on their channels the last 2 weeks, than they have likely EVER spent playing Ratchet and Clank, on-or-off stream. It is absolutely clear what the two games that have gripped the cultural zeitgeist the most this year are. Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite.
Halo wouldn't have qualified (and thats partially MS/343's fault. They got scared and purposefully avoided the awards), but Forza? If Ratchet and Clank wins, it means as much to me as Macklemore beating Kendrick lamar/Good Kid Mad City for the Best Rap Album Grammy. In that it has a permanent asterisk next to it, and even HE knew it was nonsense.
I fell for the hype and bought the game. I'm happy some people enjoyed it somehow. To me it was watered down, extremely simple, and just plain boring. That said, the environments and graphical display looked great. Too bad I don't give a shit about those things when gameplay takes a hit.

gameplay? its smooth like butter. its so fun watching the uncharted plane fall from the sky or the thing from hzd 1 and killing every thing on screen.
just wondering why you think the gameplay took a hit.
R&C was fun. Not much else to say about it tho. Pretty shallow story, very short. Rivet was a pretty good addition. Glad they got a 60fps version with ray-tracing. Would have been pretty lame without it. The 'rifts' were pretty lame after the hype. I feel like they could have done a whole lot more with it, but had to push it out early to fill gaps in the PS5 lineup.

Yeah.. Valheim is in no position to be up for awards this year, as it is clearly an unfinished game.
Valheim is by far the most fun I had with games in 2021. I played it a ton when it came out in FEB, then again when they released the Hearth & Home update. Both times with a good group of friends. What a fantastic experience. Tho I am biased towards games that let you host your own servers.
