Because brainwashing yourself into blind devotion of your own ego is SO much better [QUOTE="lx_theo"][QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]
I don't agree with 70% of his sh*t opinions. The guy thinks that Metal Gear Solid or anything even remotely cinematic for that matter, and Japanese developed games in general, are the gaming equivalent to the anti-christ. Yet I still respect the man for so fearlessly and proudly exercizing his right of free speech and doing so in such an entertaining manner. He just doesn't give a sh*t. His mind is impervious to the brainwashing methods used by the bought and paid for modern day media. Â Mother f*cker should be the most beloved critic on the internet.

This doesn't make one lick of sense. One cannot simply brainwash one's self. There has to be a third party involved. Some kind of outside persuasion.
People can convince themselves of many, many incorrect things if they want to and feel it will make them happier. Trust me, I have a sibling who does this all the time. Its not pretty.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]

You just don't like him because he doesn't say what you wanna hear. You want to hear *so and so game* is
"a modern day masterpiece!"Â
"revolutionary"
"TRIPLE A"
"9.5!"
etc etc. He doesn't offer that. What he does offer is his opinions hand crafted by his own mind. Opinions shaped by his life experiences, interests, and likes, and totally unpolluted by advertisements and public perception.
Master_ShakeXXX
If that's what his haters wanted to hear then we would all love IGN, but we don't. I can still agree with the dudes opinion, most of what he said in that vid was right on the money. but it's nothing any of us didn't know already. People hate him because he's an arrogant douche who loves the sound of himself ranting
Not as many people hate IGN as you seem to believe. If that was true, how do they maintain their status as one of the world's most popular gaming publications?Â
Because like I stated they love the playstation. Why wouldn't PS users love to visit there and see games like Uncharted and GOW get super high scores consistently. Also they have a very active forum

So what's the impact of that video on gaming journalism? Does it offer any solution? Absolute zero.rjdofu
Precisely, he doesn't provide anything as a resolution or how he could change it or anything. he does what anyone else has been doing for a while and just point out all the problems

To be fair, IGN editor's and writer's have stated in some videos I've seen that notable going ons in the Playstation world can accumulate many times more traffic than for other platforms and multiplats. They attributed it to a large loyal fanbase that keeps up to date on the going ons for Playstation. The fact that the dedicated sites mean little is probably because most of that fanbase isn't so into the internet that they seek out something more specific than IGN.And this makes him any different from every other person with Windows Movie Maker and an internet connection... how, exactly?[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]

Bad publicity is still good publicity, as the saying goes. The more people know about them (via someone raging or praising the site), the more will check them out. The more that check them out, the more will see something that will keep them coming back, increasing the overall readership.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]

I'm not saying ALL their success has come from it, but when peopel talk enough about IGN even in a bad light the name starts to stick and people who could legitimately enjoy the site will find it through word of mouth.Â

I wouldn't say he did any better. He was all talk and had nothing new to add to the debate on the topic. If he provided a fix or something substantive then maybe but all he did was point out what everyone already knows in a profoundly loud and over the top, egotistical fashion
Please, plowmaster, provide a pic of yourself. We all have so much to learn.1. Get  a haircut.  You look like a hippie reject. Â
2. Start working out. Â You look skinny and weak, do you even lift?
3. You made it clear in that video you are a xbox360 fanboy and upset that PS4 got more coverage.

Interesting that people complain about "mainstream game journalism" only when a game they like doesn't get a good enough score. princeofshapeirit's more interesting that guy Rants about everything
Oh, this asshoIe again. Still talks like he's reciting an editorial he wrote for the campus newspaper.Â
But that's okay, I'm just glad someone is finally brave enough to take IGN, that unassailable sacred cow of game criticism outlets, down a peg.

Whether or not I agree with a person I'm all for a good debate on fragments of the video game industry: games, piracy, gamers, and, of course, gaming journalism; you can't have a debate without a person on each side. But if I had to have a conversation with that guy for half a minute I'd be so incredibly annoyed.Â
I'll say this, I agree with where he was going in the first part of the video. I've seen PLENTY of people discussing this in System Wars before, it's nothing new. The second half of the video he trails off though, specifically targeting IGN and its reviews. You don't agree with the score for DA2, FFXIII and Silent Hill: Downpour? Well hot damn, they should be hanged for the crimes! And the ad space is a clear indicator that those high reviews are paid off, not a single doubt about it.Â
And on the subject of all the PS4 coverage: that is what is going to garner hits to the website. Is this guy a moron? Gamers want the latest information on this new console that they can get; they want to know the intricacies of the console and what games it'll play so of course writing a bunch of articles about it will drive traffic. And he's disappointed they didn't do this for Silent Hill: Downpour? The reviewer gave the game a 4.5, why the hell would they waste their time writing these articles on a game they didn't enjoy? It's just...Â
Again, first part of his video I agree with. Second half he goes into annoying prick mode. I would not view another of his videos and would not recommend.Â
[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"]Notice he wears sunglasses. He's reading, not riffing. Wow, I only watched a bit of a couple of them to see if he does wear sunglasses. And he actually does! That's really sad. Not only does that mean that he's not a good speaker, that means that clone is right--he is reading. lolOh, this asshoIe again. Still talks like he's reciting an editorial he wrote for the campus newspaper.Â

What's with all the IGN hate? :? They have some great editors like Greg Miller, Colin Moriarty, and Anthony Gallegos.
Is it because they are the most visited gaming site?
everything big must have haters. MASS people did call foul on IGN for mass effect 3 review, I kinda also to.What's with all the IGN hate? :? They have some great editors like Greg Miller, Colin Moriarty, and Anthony Gallegos.

thisHe sounds extremely paranoid. Shocking. He takes where there is some truth, then blows it out of proportion. What is the reality that you can induce from this is that major gaming sites write more pieces about games they believe will bring more traffic. Advertisers realizie this traffic for interest in their game and post their ads there. Instead, he takes the fact that he has a different opinion than some reviewers as a sign that there MUST be soemthing corrupt here other than simple business...
Â
What a joke.

I'd rather make up my own mind on games thank you.-Wicked_Sick-and this. its like this guy has a hard time thinking that people like mass effect 3 and an announcement of a new console is really exciting so any tidbit from ps4 (sony is really bad at keeping secrets) because he doesnt like me3 and maybe doesn't like the sony consoles.....
Wow this guy is a raging douchebag. I don't understand how anyone could sit and listen to him let alone take what he says seriously. Everything he is saying is hypocritical to what he is doing.
