RDR 2 on PC has screenshots

Along with the confusing mess of a pre-order scheme ability to pre order the game from Rockstar's lovely store, they also released a few screenshots of the PC version of RDR 2. You know, that game from last year?

On PC it's said to have prettier graphics, which is impossible because the console version is already the best looking game ever.

- more frames
- more pixels
- improved draw distances
- higher quality global illumination and AO
- higher quality snow trails
- improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances.
- tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures

Looking good. Can't wait to see what the mod community does.

Digital Foundry will be all over this doing comparisons between Xbox One X (since RDR2 on the X is the best console version) vs PC to see how well PC fairs. And we all know the answers anyways.

And as for mods, I wanna see Erron Black (from Mortal Kojmbat 11) skin mod cause I always see Erron Black fits well in a Red Dead universe then he is in Mortal Kombat.

Edit: Oh and I already pre-order it from Rockstar Games Launcher because it's, "buy one, get one free" deal on that client store :)

I'm at recommended for this, but 4K is gonna be a no-no. I'll just check it out on my brother's PC.

The game looked incredible on the X, I'm curious to see it running on PC.

Well, it'll look mostly the same because assets are basically from the console version. But seeing as that one had 4K assets, it already looked really good.

Things like advanced lighting (day and night) and better draw distances should be noticable improvements on PC though.

Playing this at 4K/60 would be a dream, but I'm honestly gonna throw my PC at this game at 3440x1440 and see how much FPS I can get :P

No surprise, Rockstar games have all that manpower and money poured into them, looking highly polished is a given.

Couldn't give a shit about 4K, 1080p will do fine.

@FinalFighters: The recommended specs for GPU is GTX 1060, so you're 1070 is more then enough for 1440p/60fps and while I have a RTX 2070, I'm way above the recommended specs. You are good to go ;)

@davillain-: lol! 150GB is pretty huge, it's actually the highest requirement for the specs.

And how is that bad? RDR2 is just the best looking game on any platform. Being able to play it at 4k60 is just insane.

That shit is gonna be amazing. I'm glad I held out. There's gonna be all kinds of reasons to play the PC version and not just for graphics.

Meh, it's got okay graphics. Definitely not top tier.

Now that my two 5 TB WD Blues have been moved to my HTPC, I have unused SATA ports in my PC. Thinking of getting another 5 TB WD Blue and then using this old 3 TB Seagate for games.

I find it really irresponsible of developers like Rockstar not to compress their files. The textures don't even look that great.

We are still getting BC for PS5. Seeing an upgrade version seems unlikely. (We all know MS will be supporting BC for Scarlett)

Not really. If we look at GTAV on PS4 and Xbox One, the PC version still looks better even though this was released on previous gen.

I suppose. I guess I just could never understand those die hard pc zealots and their obsession with specs.

I care more that I can play it with an aiming system that doesn't suck ass now and that I don't have to fumble my thumb between the camera stick and run button anymore. Seriously, Rockstar's sensitivity is bad even for controllers, so much so that I felt forced to use Soft Lock Auto Aim, at which point I sold it. Just felt awful to shoot. The 30 fps didn't help with that either.

@r-gamer: Either way, I wouldn't be against neither of those options if it serves best interest for Take-Two, I'm all in for it.

@Diddies: That's mostly with mods though. The improvement from those screenshots is also pretty minor. With new consoles they should have no issues running that at 4k 60 although I'm sure a capable PC will eventually go beyond that.

Of course mods can make it better which is where PC really shines, but the difference between my PS4 and my PC of vanilla GTAV is still a significant difference.

Top tier for me at the moment is stuff like Metro: Exodus and Battlefield V, looks incredibly life-like at times.

I have a 4770k CPU and a 1080 card....is it wise to go 1440p?

Control looks insane, too. Even Ghost Recon Breakpoint has better environmental graphics than RDR2. Definitely not character models, however.

Hmmm, my Laptop might be able to run this game despite I could play it on Xbox One X, but I got to wonder. Since grand theft auto 5 was well optimized on PC, do you guys think red dead redemption 2 will be as well optimized?

I7 8700, 16GB Ram, RTX 2080. Excited! 1440P at least, maybe 1800P?

Honestly it doesn't look much different than the X version if at all. This is going to be a massive diminishing return with the only stark advantage being framerate.

Yeah it looks amazing on X... could be the best looking game on consoles.

But I'm sure it'll look "better" on a beefy PC, which costs thousands more than an X.
