I really hate it when anyone plays the "race" card. We're all the same outside of our skin color, why do we have to make such a big deal out of it?
Thats how I feel.
Too early too see any changes yet :P, wait until release to see the ridiculous attacks against R35.
Killing White Zombies, Killing Black Zombies, What is the difference?
We kill white people, its ok. We kill middle eastern people, its ok. We kill asians(don't know when?), but its ok. But hold the boat, we kill africans, RACISM!!!!!!! Thats how I feel. That its completely stupid.dotWithShoes
Where do brown people fit in that? haha jk

Well said... this whole " RE5 is racist " thing is ******** with a capital "B"...
Splendid timeing, yous two are just in time for the fireworks show! BOOM!
I hate that guy who said those lines, he better not be the main antagonist.
Trying not to sound racist here but..
African Americans want to basicly be treated `normally` right?
But if something comes up that has the color of their skin they flip and demand it to be removed. But arent there a lot of white people in video games that get shot or brutally murdered? We dont cry our bleeding little hearts out, we play the game.
But if a African Amercan gets shot in a video game, a whole lot of angry blogs.
Dont they want to be treated "Normally"? Then why do they thrive to be treated better then us?
Hate Crimes also tick me off, how the hate can only go one way. But thats a different story...
There's racism on all sides, unfortunately. I had some jerk customer try to get one of my co-workers fired once just because the customer was an idiot and my co-worker was black. I hate ignorance like that, but it does help me to understand where some people are coming from. I guess I can kind of see why people would be quick to call racism here. I'm not saying its right, but when stuff like that can happen I suppose it makes you very wary of racism.Trying not to sound racist here but..

I know back about a year ago there were some heavey news articles about how re:5 is racist, I was curious how do people feel about the game now 6 months from release?Animal-MotherThere really is no issue whatsoever, only some race-baiters trying to start a fight. Game world does not equal real world. Killing people in the real world is wrong, but in video games it's common place.

technically they're already dead so there wont be any actual killing :p

In the game, you are in Africa, so they are not African American. Don't be so ignorant.

study black history. driven from their homelands and brought to america and were treated like live stock for about 200 hundreds then after slavery jim crow laws were introduced. separate but not equal killed for whistling to a white women hanged for looking at a white women. black have been treated like crap in this country and it recently started to get better for thems, but racism still exist its just covered up. its easy to say we all the same color under the skin. but not everyone is smart like you. there was a time people thought blacks did not have feeling and weren't human.

I know all too well the effects and presence of racism in the world. I'm just saying that sometimes the claims that are made are no better than racism itself. I really wish that racism had never existed, that people would never be or have been so ignorant, but that can't happen. Its just... making claims like this aren't helping anyone. There really is no issue whatsoever, only some race-baitors trying to start a fight. Game world does not equal real world. Good point. Another reason all this controversy is bollocks, since they are not actually alive you are not really killing anyone, white, black, red, yellow, whatever. All races have an unalienable right to become zombies and get slaughtered in a survival horror game. It's prejudice to exclude them. Kill 'em all, let the collision detection sort them out.
If anyones offended by the game...they simply shouldn't buy it :SRoushrshNO! If you don't like something you have the right to make it so no one else can enjoy it, and if anyone says you can't then they're racists.
While this is up I found it funny that Ubi put that little note in AC that the team was of many races and faiths. I understand why they did it but the reasons for it were absolutely insane.TiefsterWell when you are covering The Crusades certain folks will probably cry fowl over historical representation and interpretation.
Its pretty much damage control in advance

Zack from DOA. He owns an island where he has babes compete in games while he watches on his surveillance system. That's positive.

That's true racism still exists for a lot of people, not just black people. Today we see some cases where black people are not subjected to the same standards as others in the work place. Whites have been ignored in favor of blacks in some cases in the name of quotas despite the white person having a much better resume. When I was in college the federal government called my adviser and asked if he had any black students in his Forestry classes and wanted them regardless of their gpa, he said yes we do but what about the other students in Forestry? They said "ok we'll take them if they have a 4.0 gpa.
Also in alot of poor areas across America only blacks are usually recognised as actually being poor, yet there are hundreds of thousands of poor people from other races.
The games setting in africa, so naturally the zombies should be yah know swedish. The whole race card its getting rediculous , because quite frankly it only works in one direction.Erik_LensherrSo why then can't the hero be a black guy or girl?
don't have a problem with the game but I have to ask one question why couldn't the hero be a black guy or girl. In alot of other games too why can't the hero be other races. I can see this game being a problem or band in some places.blackdreamhunk
I think the heroine in this game is black, and by black I mean darkish.
[QUOTE="shahchip"][QUOTE="SupraGT"]People wouldn't care if the protagonist was black. When was the last time we had a black protagonist?

I think Jade from BG&E was black....right?
Anyways, as a black guy, and 100% african no less, I really really wanted to purchase this game, but after seeing more and more of it, I think I'll pass...and it isn't race related issues....it's because it looks like the same game RE4 was with a few touches here and there.
If anything, I'm actually enjoying how much coverage Africa's been getting in the game industry lately...FarCry 2, Afrika, Splinter Cell (although minor)....
anyways, as for RE5, I think I'd be more offended if they based the game in Africa and all the people were white...
I'll wait and see how it does though...but until further notice....please, by all means, continue arguing amongst yourselves over something as pointless as this. =)

Man speaks the truth, you don't see people complaining about shooting endless amounts of white zombies in left 4 dead :P

that's the problem w/ affirmative action. It should be a class issue, not a race issue. Then again, if there was no affirmative action, less employers or universities will accept ppl of other races.Afirmative action needs to be revamped.
So why then can't the hero be a black guy or girl?[QUOTE="blackdreamhunk"][QUOTE="Erik_Lensherr"]The games setting in africa, so naturally the zombies should be yah know swedish. The whole race card its getting rediculous , because quite frankly it only works in one direction.laughingman42

Well, the RE series has it's well-established characters like Chris and Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy. So they stick to the script. Sheva looks cool imo. I was just kidding about Zack from DOA. Alyx Vance was a pretty famous main character who is of African decent. Not as big as Gordon, but still massively important.
It's all pixels.
