RE4 Remake sells 5 million units!

The Resident Evil 4 remake has reached five million sales, according to publisher Capcom.

Released on March 24 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, the latest series entry has reached the sales milestone relatively quickly.

In comparison, the last mainline series entry, 2021’s Resident Evil Village, took almost six months to ship five million copies.

The last Resident Evil game to hit five million sales quicker than this year’s remake was Resident Evil 5. Released in March 2009, it reached 4.97 million sales by the end of the following month and cleared five million within three months.

The Resident Evil 4 remake sold three million copies in its first two days and four million units in its first two weeks, Capcom said previously.

“Capcom looks to continue expanding sales with the upcoming release of Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, free downloadable content compatible with PlayStation VR2,” it said on Thursday.

It’s been claimed that the company is also planning to introduce the original Resident Evil 4’s Separate Ways content as DLC.

The content, which wasn’t included in the initial GameCube release but was later incorporated into other versions of the game, stars Ada Wong and provides a new perspective on the events of Resident Evil 4.

Following the remake’s release, datamainers claimed to have uncovered references to “The Another Order” (the Japanese name for Separate Ways) in the game files.

Prior to the game’s release, reputable insider Dusk Golem also claimed that Separate Ways would be coming down the line as DLC. “It’ll be longer and more fleshed out than the original Separate Ways,” they said.

Following its success remaking numbered series entries, Capcom hasn’t ruled out the possibility of remaking non-numbered Resident Evil games too.

I used to have to check Wikipedia to see if a game was made by a western dev or a japanese dev.

Now I just check their female character design.

Because Playstation sucks kek

Don't worry, it will sell a lot more. Capcom games usually have strong legs. Its sales are outpacing RE2 remake, which took almost a year to sell 5M and eventually sold over 11M in several years. RE4 remake should surpass the original RE4's 12M+ sales in the next year or two.

RE4R, one of the best games of all time barely scrapes by 5 million sales.

Meanwhile 70 million people have played Call of Duty today. of which 35.1 million were on their phone.

Was very good on PC. Played it at around 100 frames ultra, very smooth overall.

So it took 3 months to sell the last million copies?

5 million is kinda low when you consider its on 3 platforms.

i've lived in the past and so know a fad when i see one.

VR is a fad, just like 3D movies, it comes back around and then disappears again.

One of if not the best game of the year. I'm looking forward to the other remakes.

RE4 is one of the greatest games ever made. Of course a superb remake will be successful.

That means the company made around 100-150M in revenue. But the question is how much did they spend on the developing and marketing. I would estimate developing to be around 40M and and Marketing around 30M. So around 30-80M in profit. Eventually they will make more over the years.
