As long as the controls worked well and the graphics were the only thing downgraded, I'd be happy with it. I wouldn't want cheap and sloppy controls, and I wouldn't want less content than the other versions.
I don't mind watered-down graphics as long as everything else works well.
I don't think it will work. And how come the guy who writes the actual petition statement is usually so bad and unprofessional of a writer? Capcom needs clarity and brevity and persuasiveness. Not sentences beginning with "from day 1"

Your right about it testing the market. I read somewhere that RE4 sales were doing really well even more than what Cpacom had hoped for.

I think RE4wii was the test market, and its beating their expectations believe it or not.

A few surprisingly have, but I can't remember which company they were for. But I do think Bioshock even had a petition for a Limited Edition and it worked. But in this case, I don't think it's enough to make Capcom do anything

I think the Devs started the petition to see if people wanted it, Or people wanted it so they told them to start a petition, something like that.

There is no doubt that if RE5 was to come on the Wii, you would get less content overall, not just in graphics.
It's very possible, considering how much Capcom likes to spread their games out. We didn't know about the PS2 port of RE4 until about 9 months before it released. That was pretty sudden, considering sheep were hyping the game a full two years prior to that.
Point is, if Wii keeps selling like it is, Capcom will be giving it all the RE-style loving it needs. But a petition ain't gonna do it.
Yeah there's just no way without completely ruining it. Nintendo screwed everyone with the weak Wii hardware. They could've easily made a $250 near-360 power console just like the Gamecube was to Xbox but instead we end up with an ancient Gamecube rehash. They did this because they had no confidence that it would succeed and would be guarunteed profits from the sheep fanbase even if they had to drop the price to $99 rapidly. But if they succeeded like they did it would make tons of money. No lose situation that screws gamers either way.
