Im very Skeptical about both, but im more skeptical about Natal. Im not questioning wether or not itll be marketed or be supported well, I question how people will react to it. Is the average gamer the kind of person taht wants to flayel about in front of there TV? or maybe MS isnt going for the average gamer, but for the main Wii gamer that uses it for fitness and waving around like a jackass. Although, I think it has the most potential to be awesome. And if it catches fire, could change alot of things about gaming and could really sky rocket 360 sales. I do think Sonys controller is the more practical apporach, but the least potential compared to Natal. But I think it could be the easier sell to gamers.

Sales: Natal, as Microsoft will market the ****** out of it.

Games: Arc, as it has already shown the potential to integrate motion controls in core gaming games, and has sub-mm accuracy.

Natal will probably have some success, seeing how Microsoft is promoting it a lot. Dunno about the Arc.

I really don't know if the average casual consumer will be that impressed with the PS3 wand - a more accurate Wii remote with HD is cool, but appeals more to gamers. Natal has a better chance of intruging the public the way the Wii did.

Only time will tell, but I hope it doesnt become a standard in the future. Like every single game needs Natal or Arc to play... That would piss me off. There is a reason I got a 360 and ps3...and not a wii

natal simply because its already had better advertising plus its just a cold fact, there are more 360 owners out there then PS3 owners, so while I doubt either will be a success I think natal will have a slight sales advantage over the Arc for that simple fact.

Natal won't bomb. Arc will.......

Natal will have great sales, but it will probably suffer from lag that we've seen in all the demonstrations, assuming it isn't fixed by the time it launches. I think the biggest problem with the Arc will be that it was delayed. If they released it in the Spring like they first planned, it might've done well. Now, they have to directly compete with Natal with both having Fall launches. Since it's so similar to the Wii motion controls, people will probably want to get Natal, just because of the hype and the fact that it's different.

I believe a hybrid between Natal and the "arc"/ Wiimote would be the best combo.

One word...NEITHER...or NADA...or NONE. Take your pick lol. If every there was a poster child for despirate sloppy seconds, its 360 and PS3 motion control. Its not going to make a dent in the Wii. The casual party crowd is not going to dump their Wii for either PS3 or 360. The Wii has an entire library dedicated to motion control that is well designed for casual players. It will take 360 and PS3 another 3 years to match it. Personally, I think PS3 and 360 should stick to what they are doing and write off the casual party game crowd. I see both of these devices going the way of the 360 HD DVD drive. They will both be on the IGN most useless video game accessory list in a couple of years.

If the WII captured the audience because of the way they did motion control on advertisements, and Natal going around saying "YOU ARE THE CONTROLLER" and "USE YOUR BODY TO MOVE AROUND" it's gonna sell well :D

Well I've read about lag on Natal, also the lack of an actual controller is a little weird. The Sony "arc" while it has already proven itself as the best motion control I just can't see it doing that well. I think if anything Sony will focus more on 3D then their arc controller.

Arc because I think it will work well in games that usually use a traditional controller. Like turn the PS3 into a HD Wii :?

not as many as Microsoft

Microsoft also stated the support, launch and marketting will be likened toa "new console launch"

oh and don't forget it will be for Windows Based PCs.

so they have a bigger exposure already then the Arc.

Xbox360 larger install base and on Windows.

from what i've seen at least teh fps demo, it looked terrible, since you end up facing one wall the entire time, granted i havn't seen a ton of it, but it seems a bit wonky since your movement is in relation to the tv, as is facing, so if you run to the upper right hand corner beside your tv, wtf is going to happen if you want to turn? I think natal will have a bit of the same problem but the way its designed its more of a way to interact with your console without a controller. But the wii's will be the most successful, light gun + motion sensor, and the motion isn't in relation to the tv.

Alot has to do with the prices, and game support. If the ball on the stick is reasonably priced it will probably do ok. Since it looks like a glorified Wiimote it really should cost no more than $50. Same goes for Natal, if it is in the $100 range it will probably do just fine. More than that and people will stay away, unless they come out with some serious game support.

Natal for minor interactions with regular full priced games and the PS stick thing for games that are made specifically for it. Imo of course.

Based on opinions on these boards, Natal has the better chance for success because it is different from the Wii Remote. It is no secret that 90% of the board here hate the Wii control scheme, and seeing as Sony is making a carbon copy of it, THEORETICALLY it shouldn't sell well at all because so many people hate the Wii... right? I can't wait to see PS3 Arc sales go through the roof, and see all the hypocrites who said the Wii is a fad and its interface is a joke praise the Arc for its "innovation"

Both have a very good chance of success and both will likely come out of the box next gen (or some variant). Even the eyetoy was a moderate success story (and that was without third party support and only a handful of IPSs).

Of the two...Natal. They will market the hell out of it plus I think they will give it a decent price. Arc looks like it will be expensive because you need a camera and two wands. Also why would people pick the PS3 motion control over the Wii's when they are basically the same?

I think NATAL is a higher risk, higher reward project that could potentially be the next thing for casual gamers but will likely flop hard for traditional games. The arc follows a more proven paradigm and likely will fit better with more traditional games and will help sony pick up 3rd party support with lots more cross platform games but have a less flashy showy but be more dependable. I can't see either as bigging too big for MS or Sony and will likely be more optional control schemes as neither company wants to alienate their install base.

natal is aiming lower which is exactly what an add on peripheral should do. It will succeed in that it will have a little library of games as well as some minor practical applications in other games, like maybe taking your picture for an in game avatar or something like that. Arc is trying to beat the wii at its own game, which is boggling to me. It will fail hard and might just be a prep for next gen

Natal will suck because it has no controller. I really don't see how it will work for any games other than simple block the ball or punch the screen. Arc looks just like the Wiimote but more accurate, and much better graphics, but at the same time, it looks gimicky. Of the two i'd say Natal has no real future, but Arc isn't something to write home about either.

we'll have to see come launch, until i see a good lineup of games and not just some devs talking about how they might like to work with them, i really don't know which will succeed.

If both turn out to be eyetoy+wiimote and eyetoy 2 then they will both be the biggest fails of the gen, after they've had all this hype behind them. i will see come launch, but right now they could be either be good or fail.

true, but atleast they built it into the controller and then pretty much dropped support for it. if these are hyped to be the next big step for gaming, and then the majority of the games that come out are gems like these;

then they would become the biggest fails of the gen.

i think natal does since its something quite different to the wii. with the right promotion and enough support i think it has a good chance. im more sceptical about ark as its going to be hard to make it stand out. it works very differently but it is a wiimote and nunchuck to all intents and purposes. if sony are going totry and play the "its just like the wii...but it also has HD and blu-ray" card then arc will be dead in the water.

Arc is apparently being re-named by Sony. Its going to be called "I-Can't-Believe-its-Not-Wiimote". It really is just a "me too" product that stinks of desperation and is about 4 years too late to the market. Natal is a bit more innovative, instead of changing the type of controller we use - there is no controller! I am interested in at least trying this, but until I've seen it working for myself I'm sceptical about how well it is going to perform and how developers will make use of it.

I don't understand how some of you may think Arc or whatever it's called will fail since Wii's controller is a success , I mean Arc is wii mote at its finest you cant' deny it (talking about the hardware not its interactions, which may or may not be a success).

Now Natal is simply obnoxious , where on earth one do things without the use of any tool?I mean I wanna hold something like a gun , a wheel , a racquet I WANT.Making me hold nothing isn't a favor and it's completely far from reality unless we're talking about fighting games , case which natal still gotta prove the lack of lag.
