the wiimote is the wiimote at its finest, the ball on a stick is an unproven rip off of the wiimote. it also looks like a "back massager"I don't understand how some of you may think Arc or whatever it's called will fail since Wii's controller is a success , I mean Arc is wii mote at its finest you cant' deny it (talking about the hardware not its interactions, which may or may not be a success).
Now Natal is simply obnoxious , where on earth one do things without the use of any tool?I mean I wanna hold something like a gun , a wheel , a racquet I WANT.Making me hold nothing isn't a favor and it's completely far from reality unless we're talking about fighting games , case which natal still gotta prove the lack of lag.

Lol yeah but leaving aside the looks of it what I meant is that the concept is the same (or rip off as you called) and from the videos shown it's as responsive as wiimote m+ with some tweaks like the spinning thrownsword of the gif.And reforcing , it's a concept which appeals more than natal to me

the gif you are referring to shows some weakness of son's system, at the end of the gif loop the sword seems to jump around leading me to believe that there will be lag issues with the system they are creating. no one would chose to put out a flawed example of how capable a product was, unless it was the best they hadARCbecause moregames that hardcore gamers playwill use it
natal just those casual games you get from xboxlive
I can't see natal working for something like halo
OmegaTau
The Wii and wiimote are so successful because of the casuals not the "hardcore" gamers, sooo......
I beleive Natal will do decent and the Sony Arc will do terrible since it is a rip-off with no support comeing to it.
Natal will have a good chance of doing well. The average consumer does actually like to flail around and do exaggerated movements, which is precisely what Natal is going to offer. Also, it's going to be shipping with every new Xbox360 isn't it? Microsoft has both the money and the drive to want it to succeed. Whereas I can't really see Sony promoting the Arc as much.

[QUOTE="surrealnumber5"][QUOTE="PS-Lightning_18"]does it have rumble ? Rumble was last gen, remember? but this is for girls or as they are when they play the wii, casuals and casuals as SW's would have you believe are all about last gen.PS3 Arc because it appeals to girls. ;)

Natal will be better commercial success as it will be use for gaming more(as far as 3rd party goes, everybody announced working on it,everybody see big bucks in it).Every kid will want it and MS will advertise it to the death.
Arc on the other hand will do well, but will be more used in hard core games and looks more precise for games in general.Only thing is that Sony does not advertise it that much and 3rd party is not really over the roof with impressions.
ya see..thats the problem. if sony do that....then most people who have a wii are going to think "ok i have a wii..plays the games i want. happy days. PS3 is the same thing but in HD and blu-ray. do i want to spend the gits fo 400 quid on the same thing but in HD?" some will answer yes sure...but id hazzard that most will answer no. and since SW likes to point out so much that everyone only plays on the wii at christmas with the family (god this place is crazy sometimes :P)..people are highly unlikely to get a PS3 to do the same thing. if blu-ray and HD were a big deal then the wii would be dead last. there not....most people dont really care. sony are going to have to do alot better than "its like the wii...but we have blu-ray".Casuals will go for the Blu Ray and motion controller combo. Sony is going to market this like a Wii HD+

natal, MS marketing... and i already own a wii as does the rest of the world.....
i think casuals will look at the move as a cheap knock off brand type thing.... move wont succeed, trust me
Natal probably will be more of a sucess; however, seeing sony and microsoft adopting motion controls is making me start to hate them. I just hope motion controls don't become the norm. :?

so what about Arc then?
A lot here consider it more a rip off of the wimote.

Natal because it already has alot of support from devs and will be marketed like crazyby M$.
AdmiralBison
and what? ARC dosent have devs? weve heard quit a few.
not as many as MicrosoftMicrosoft also stated the support, launch and marketting will be likened toa "new console launch"
oh and don't forget it will be for Windows Based PCs.
so they have a bigger exposure already then the Arc.
Xbox360 larger install base and on Windows.
SONY was also quoted as theyre going to treat Move as a console launch. Plus, SONy has more Devs under the hood than MS does. Plus, the install base isnt that different nowadays. Its only about 4 or 5 million gap.
It's really simple for people to see things, People will see Natal ads and PS MOVE ads and they will say about the MOVE ads "thats just like the Wii, whats so different about it?Im gonna get the NATAL".
This kind of thought is devastating so I don't think Sony will put all of their money to market the new controller.
MS's NATAL already has the potential to win consumers, casual don't care if it will bring hardcore games or not, they just wanna have fun.
Nintendo pisses on both concepts.
I saw the boxing vid. he had two controllers. Aren't these things retailed at no more than $100?
Thats ******* expensive to play one game.
We are over halfway through this console generation. Neither really has much chance of major success before the next generation of systems comes out. Sony and MS will just have to wait until then to take over Nintendo's marketshare. Another problem most do not realize is the cost of MS and PS3 motion options vs the Wii. Finally, what is the last console add-on you remember being a success? Sega CD? Sega 32x? Lol!
after seeing sonys demonstration i still think it depends on what games each gets. judging on the wii mote and the eyetoy i would say the arc is the more practical. as controller-less gaming can be pretty gimmicky (judging on past tech).
i think microsoft know what they are doing though and if they get more and better support than sony, natal could be better. judging just on the tech i would say move is more practical, but I'm not excited by either really. the wii got it right by making the wii's main feature the wiimote, and every game forces you to use it in some form. If we only get alternative versions of games like little big planet i doubt it would make me want to change a dualshock for the move.
i think Move has potential to be close to Wii M+ but lack of an IR pointer disturbs me
Natal however can be big among fitness games and casuals if done right and its concept is more intriguing whereas move is improving a proven idea
I think at the end of the day a $100 Move (Wand with Eyetoy) won't sell super well, Sony didn't seem to care about the eyetoy beyond some titles, but they seem a tad bit more serious now
All in all, i think Move will move (geddit?) 5-10 million max.
Natal could be 10 million + if it is truly $50 or so like reports say since they took the CPU out of it
either way neither will be nearly as successful as the Balance Board, unless they employee nintendo's marketing teams

Great point
Accesories don't always sell well and even 45 million Wii'ers don't own Wii Fit boards
I think its hard to push accesory unless you're forced to use them
thus bundling m+ and the wii concept itself

I just don't see many games for either system requiring the move or natal to play. For example, the move is only optional for Socom 4, which is a good thing, but I kind of think that both solutions are a waste of time and r&d.sonys what ever you call it
devs have already stated its impossible to work with because of its lag time

For example, the move is only optional for Socom 4, which is a good thing, but I kind of think that both solutions are a waste of time and r&d.Well i think Natal is more of a move by MS to control your tv remote as i see it being used outside of Xbox, on PCs and televisions too
Move, meh. I should like it but i really don't want motion mixed in with mah controller games. Seriously i love the Wii for what it is but i don't want others to just copy it
WiiMote will triumph both because its your only option and traditional controls are optional in games like Kart, Brawl, etc.
Wand/Natal are accessories that probably won't sell well or have uber-compelling software.
Esspecially since Eyetoy/Move controller is $100, plus probably $50 per Wand for multiplayer gaming, plus $20 for each nunchuck, thats $170 to play one split screen Move game. $170.
and the Move PS3 bundles will be expensive. it will add $100 to the systems price, PS3s just got to the price of $300 where people were willing to buy more of them, but pushing it up to $400 with a Move/Eyetoy bundle is not gonna do well
Natal however is rumored to be around $50, and we know MS is ok with taking a loss on it. And we know the 360 sells for a hefty profit now. an Arcade with no HDD sells for a profit at $200, you won't make me believe that in 2010 a 120GB HDD costs $100 to make for MS. I'm thinking a Elite 360 120GB Bundle with Natal for $299.99 this fall, and that will be the only SKU at retailers other than a $200 Arcade with no HDD/Natal
and Nintendo is starting bundles for $200 of Wii's with Wii Sports Resort and M+ so they will get every customer from now on with M+ which is smart
i'm hoping though Nintendo brings out a Nunchuck + that has an actual motion sensor in it too, like the nunchuck for the Move

Heh, that's fair. But if someone could make it work, and make it appealing? I'm open to change.
And no- I don't find the Wii terribly appealing for the control scheme. Some of the games are interesting, but it's not the Wiimote that would sell me.
i dont know... natal is pretty unique in a way that i think the crowd will eat up. i dont have a 360 honestly, but i prefer to hold something when im playing games... anyways, just curious... do they offer 1-4 co-op games on natal?
as for the arc, it seems like a hit or miss to me. i know the wii is bashed alot here, but when the wii first came out with its last gen graphics i always wanted to see motion tech in current gen graphics. either people want the same thing with better graphics or they'll pass up on the arc because its already been done.
either way im staying away from all this unless they happen to release a game i like that uses this tech.
