just seems like they are trying to over-complicate the way people interact with each other. I would prefer to jus run the game then invite my friend and not turn on the console start up home find my friend, go to some place so we can play together and then run the game and then find a server which is how im assuming its going to work. I find it very hard to believe the hype surrounding home, its by no means at all innovative and the funny thing being you have to purchase clothes and furniture etc.. what a joke. They are pulling your leg and doing a very good job at it.D4rkfireYou don't ever have to go through Home. You can message your friends or play an online game without entering Home, and you don't have to buy any clothes or furniture , lol.
So what is the point of home again?D4rkfire
The apartment, and there are lots of different types, look very realistic and can be customized with real-world furniture, wallpaper, picture frames that show images from your harddrive, even televisions that stream your own original video content.
The idea, it seems, is that your apartment will become the nexus of your Playstation 3 experience. It is where you can listen to music, look at pictures, watch video, invite your friends over to talk and even go into multiplayer games together to play as a group.
"This could become your clan heaquarters," Harrison said. "From within home you can launch multiplayer games directly. You can then come back into home afterward and talk about it."
Next Harrison showed a more sophisticated apartment. This one had several levels, an outdoor deck and a much nicer design.
Home will also have other public spaces, like the Home Cinema, a sort of virtual movie theater complete with a large front lobby and separate screening rooms.
It's also possible for companies or publishers to create their own spaces. For instance Electronic Arts could create a space that shows off their current and upcoming games in a virtual world that looks more like a mall than a store.

Very poor thread. You don't have to buy anything in HOME. If you do decide to buy things ... it is because you love love love that aspect of it.

At GDC two major things were announced PSHome and LBP PSHome - no innovations whatsoever... already done by games like animal crossing or sims - its not as free as cows claim.. second life is a good example.. people are spending 1,5 million dollars of microtransaction a day playing it. you will have to buy a house.. buy clothes.. buy furniture.. go and play Animal crossing DS or Sims2 - the basic functionalities are downloading and achievements, streaming movies, matchmaking , online lobby, chatting, retro games download.. - so its online sims with xbox live functionalities and not even as free as the cows claim... LBP - looks like a solid game.. could hit AAA status could fail like Loco roco in a critics point of view and a financial point of view - comes out in 2008.. which is ages away nothing groundbreaking.. killzone is also rumored to look leaps away from the E3 2005 trailers all i see is broken promises (killzone) and some copied concepts with one good game that saves the whole announcement from oblivionfarnham
No, no broken promises, just idiotic sony fanboys that think PS3 is a better machine because .... it comes later ... and costs more
Fact is 360 has the games, the graphics and the online PERFECT, PS3 has nothing yet, and for 1-2 years more, this GDC was THE huge dissapointment, not one new game announced, a real disaster for PS3

nintendo makes animal crossing and mario.. OMG TEH KIDDIE CRAP
sony makes clones . OMG INNOVATION GOTY AND CONSOLE KING CONFIRMED

I agree with you there. I remember the DS was passed off as a crappy gimmick, whilst the Eyetoy was hailed as the perfect innovation

I see no GAMES, like Mass Effect or Lost Odyssey, where are games like those ? Waitstation just proved that it only has gimmick offerings for 1-2 more years, not for me thanks
I buy Shivering Isles in 27 March, Mass effect in May, and Bioshock, Lost Odyssey and blue Dragon in September, then i will have to wait for Eternal Sonata, Infinite undisocvery and Fable 2, Halo 3, Too Human, all actually COMING, not in 2 years like FF13 or White Knight we see nothing of yet

It is not an online service, and neither are Miis. For Nintendo, friend codes are their online service (which is endlessly crappier) and Miis aren't even in the picture at this point in time. We have no idea what role they will play in Nintendo's online games, since they don't have any. PSHome is not an online service, PSN is the online service. PSHome adds some new features and works over the online service, but it still lacks the basic easy-to-use interface and functionality of XBL. In addition to that, it will still suffer from the issues PSN has until PSN itself is fixed.

It could, in theory, offer better functionality but what has been shown doesn't entirely indicate that. XBL is a fully integrated service in your 360, not something you have to open and run, something you have constant access to. And that's what the PSN is for the PS3. PSHome is a supplement, addition, whatever you want to call it.
