I think it's an interesting idea,it's certainly better than what the ps3 currently offers, which isn't alot in online community features.

But is it better than xbox live? I don't think it is,i don't want to ru around an advertised room to try and meet people to play games,i just want to get into a game and if i like someone add the mto my friend list and thats it.I think Sony may have gone a little overboard with the second life approach.

However it may explode in popularity just like second life has, which i'm sure it will too a certain extent,or people may just not get into it.

BUT then again it is free and you really can't argue with that, although i prefer a paid service because it keeps alot of jerks offline.

[QUOTE="farnham"]At GDC two major things were announced PSHome and LBP PSHome - no innovations whatsoever... already done by games like animal crossing or sims - its not as free as cows claim.. second life is a good example.. people are spending 1,5 million dollars of microtransaction a day playing it. you will have to buy a house.. buy clothes.. buy furniture.. go and play Animal crossing DS or Sims2 - the basic functionalities are downloading and achievements, streaming movies, matchmaking , online lobby, chatting, retro games download.. - so its online sims with xbox live functionalities and not even as free as the cows claim... LBP - looks like a solid game.. could hit AAA status could fail like Loco roco in a critics point of view and a financial point of view - comes out in 2008.. which is ages away nothing groundbreaking.. killzone is also rumored to look leaps away from the E3 2005 trailers all i see is broken promises (killzone) and some copied concepts with one good game that saves the whole announcement from oblivion2largeadults

No, no broken promises, just idiotic sony fanboys that think PS3 is a better machine because .... it comes later ... and costs more

Fact is 360 has the games, the graphics and the online PERFECT, PS3 has nothing yet, and for 1-2 years more, this GDC was THE huge dissapointment, not one new game announced, a real disaster for PS3

Yeah...considering that everyone's been discussing Home since the GDC. Good going.

That's because Sony fans won't shut up about it. It's a great concept but you people have been talking about it like it's the second comming.

Which would make me correct: Sony was the huge story at the GDC. Not the disappointment.

The KZ demo was to show off the devtools, not the game.
Get your facts right before posting

yay..dev tools FTW!! They should have been showing off dev tools last year at GDC, not 4 months after launch. Add the copying of XBL features and that shows how far behind Sony really is.

Since when do you have to buy stuff?

Its the users choice, just like on the 360 users can choose if they want to buy gamer pics and themes, or they can just use the free stuff.

There will be free and premium content, as well as content that will come with certain games.

Sounds fun. I wonder if they will add face mapping like in rainbow six vegas. You can say a lot about sony, but they know what to copy.

the ones that complain about HOME r trying to find whatever excuse they can to bring Sony fans down. and to make the service look ridiculous, it's like if I blame Ibanez for making the JEM series onle bcuz I own a Yamaha Pacifica (yes u look that jelaous n ridiculous) but if you're just tired of Sony fans then remember where u are, this is SW where almost no one is rational

Oh so now we HAVE to pay for stuff that we can choose to buy, like the lems HD-DVD player which you can choose to buy. You don't have to.
