Well after going on and playing the game today, i felt these are things that make this amazing shooter not much of a success online as it could have been:

1)i felt as if the controls were getting a bit hard to get used to.

2) Pros' or people who were playing and were used to the controls were amazing and made it hard to get kills.

So basically: i believe that due to it being a hard game to get used to (no run and gun), it makes it tough for it to compete with easy pick up and play shooters such as Halo 3 and Cod. I honestly feel that those games are so easy to get used to.

Does this mean that KZ2 is a bad FPS?, no, IMO it makes it a tougher game and one that kind of requires skill, well atleast more than COD MW. It might mean that its just a harder FPS.

well thats just my opinion.

Well, of course it requires more skill than Modern Warfare.

But yah, GG should have taken notes from Bungie and made the game easy to pick up, and hard to master.

I kinda feel this way too TC. No Run and Gun was a dissapointment for a lot of people... I know it did for me lol

J/k, but I do feel that way.

yeah i guess. that's why halo 3 has tons of people still. It's simple gameplay, but still deep. CoD4 gameplay is simple and just easy beyond imagination.

thats why I love it because you have to be good to be good, same reason i love CS and UT. Skill trumps all.

In fact tomorrow after I get home I'll fit it in with MAG, DS, and U2 just because the MP is so much fun. Besides there are still plenty of people playing it.

Meh, I'm always changing it. I said I'd change my avy and sig since so many people have been asking who it is but I never do. I'm too lazy to, haven't made a new one in awhile and plus she's awesome.

Oh and she's Alodia Gosiengfiao.

Controls are too complicated in most new games these days. It creates a major disconnect between you and the game. That's why I prefer NES and SNES games. Mega Man is so easy to control.

do a demon's souls one. btw, we're going really off topic  back on topic: I'm still able to find tons of games in Killzone 2. My only problem is the extremely long load times. I wish it had an install instead of loading for minutes.

Bah everyone has a Demon's Souls something, that's no fun. I want to do something...ecchi like but I have to know if it crosses the line with GS mods. Anyways, back on topic. I haven't played the Killzone 2 online in awhile, but I'm sure it's fairly popular in it's own right. It's no Halo or COD, but it certainly isn't the worse.

yeah I haven't played in a while as well. but I'm usually able to find games. Honestly, I haven't played an FPS since early August. Just been boring for me. I'm playing more action games now since there's more variety in gameplay.

I love this game online. As you said, its not an easy pick up and play game but I like challenges. Unfortunately for the game, not everyone likes challenges or has the time to master a game.

I love it hands down my favorite FPS MP. The weight of the game took some time to get use to,but it felt good and different.I can see why people who like halo dont like KZ2 after all they both have different feels. KZ2 is more grounded while halo is more arcady gameplay. Both are great in thier own rights though.

Killzone 2's biggest problem online was communication, or rather the lack thereof. Team-based multiplayer that requires constant and precise co-ordination doesn't work so well when only half the players have mics and none of them talk. When the vast majority of players can't/won't use their most powerful tool (the squad system), you're going to have problems.

i think its because the game was slow, dark, and sluggish. think about it, the majority of long lasting MP games are bright, fast, easy to control. Not bashing the game, i just think it went against the games it copied most, COD4 and TF2, both have fun, fast paced action in MP, KZ2 just isnt that fun after a while because hardly anyone talks (you gotta admit, sometimes whining is funny in Halo 3  ), and no one works together, and its too slow. IMO of course

Back on topic, i'm agree, Halo is really easy to pick and play, and to be honest, nowadays that is a very important thing, is like in SFIV, if you go online without some basic knowledge, your gonna be destroyed.

No, I own both HD consoles and true reason is that theres so much good stuff coming out, especially for the PS3, to give enough time to KZ2.

KZ 2 better than COD4 by a mile. Nuff'said.

Not surprised its unpopular- most of the unpopular games are the best. ESPECIALLY around where I live.

Although I didn't really want to trade it in... I ended up trading in Killzone 2 today along with 4 other good games for Uncharted 2. I really wanted UC2 and was broke, but I didn't want to trade in Killzone 2 if possible... but I ended up having to in order to get UC2. They ended up giving me like $25 for it, after the special deals that added like 35-50% to each item or something like that. Now you may be asking yourself why I'd trade in a game I didn't really want to trade in... It's because of the online. I don't play it anymore. I played it out the first month or so the game was out. After unlocking everything, the game just lost it's appeal. People ruined Killzone 2's online IMO w/Sentry Turrets and air support. It's so obnoxious going up against a team that does nothing but spam sentry turrets and air support... and so many teams started doing that. Not only that, but there was NO matchmaking or party system, which pretty much killed the online automatically. It made it so hard to just get in a match with your friends or get on the same team as them, not to mention communicate with them when trying to join a different match. I was in a clan and we never played one match together as a team, not even a practice match... all thanks to the lack of party system, communication, and matchmaking.

honestly, i feel the sameway.

i hope the next KZ takes away the sentry bots, its justa pain to be worrying about another robot auto aiming you. And whats even worse ist hat they they can do headshots.

but yea, like i said, it takes a couple games to get used to, but its not tooo difficult.

Still a great game, something that has a different feel to it.

Noobs thought they could jump around gunning people at will, then they realized there was more to it, and got afraid of taking the time to learn how to play and get good, I almost did it, but diligence and tenacity paid off

Yup. Its too complex for the deafening silence PSN has. Silence ruined KZ2, R2, and Fat Princess. They could have been great, but I spend all of my time playing SOCOM Confrontation because of how fun teamwork is. MAG being an enormous success or an epic failure is entirely dependent on mic use. They better package a mic in or at least have a search filter for mics only games, or MAG will be a ghost town like KZ2 and R2.

I totally love KZ2's online component. Easily one of my favorite online shooters of all time. I think that the initial problems with the controls (which were sorted with a patch) and the fragmenting of the user base with 3 map packs in 4 months was really what limited it's exposure.

What's to justify? $299 for a Slim and you have a boatload of great exclusives to play if you haven't owned a PS3 up until now. Newer ones like Killzone 2, inFamous, Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls and Fat Princess are definitely serious incentive, as are older ones like MGS4, Resistance 1 & 2, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Motorstorm 1 & 2, the PixelJunk games... then you have upcoming games like God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Twisted Metal (eventually), MAG, and so on. Add to that the media player functionality, with a Bluray player, built in Wi-fi, a great DVD and PS2 upscaler, and it makes a pretty damn strong case to pick one up. Neither system should be missed.

[QUOTE="SilverChimera"] ah. I remember reading your blog where you said ppl kept asking if that was you :PsiLVURcross
Yea I got a ton of PMs wondering who it was, telling me that I was pretty. Only to disappoint when I told em I was a guy.

you are still pretty, even after i found out you was a guy!

as for op killzone 2 online is fairly popular you can always get games, but it certainly isn't a halo or modern warfare in terms of online success, but then again what is? i actually liked killzone overall and thought it was fun both online and off.

I thought Killzone 2 was good, but it felt too much like a 'me too' game. It had no personality to it or uniqueness.

There are a few reasons why KZ2 is not so popular. The top 2 reasons are

1) Its another FPS that doesn't feel fresh enough to pull people away from other games in the genre.

2) Why go for a 2nd tier game when you can play this: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/852871/bungie-project-2/videos/halokills_mnt_101209.html

Love KZ2 but I got used to 60 frame rates, the 30 FPS killed it for me.

Killzone 2 was fun for awhile, but Halo3 just has so much more meat on it's bones.

Halo 3 will live on forever. Killzone has already been forgotten according to the Killzone message boards. No one is playing that game anymore apparently.

People just want it easy nowadays.siLVURcross
i guess you can say that. the thing is, i suck horribly at using the analog stick when it comes to shooting games on consoles. the fact that it didnt have aim assist turned me off from purchasing the retail copy(i've only played the demo). personally i enjoyed COD4 more because it gave starters, like me, a chance to rack up a couple kills. it was noob friendly, yet it was fun. killzone requires alot of skills, but i rather get a game where i can pick up and play during a quick break while not getting frustrated trying to aim at an enemy all day (yeah i suck that bad lol).

I dominated the first time I played Killzone 2 online. No introductions necessary, I walked into an assault rifles only server and started getting around 3 kills average per death. That doesn't normally happen when I play Call of Duty 4, lol. I found Killzone 2 far more playable.

Being Subjected to the cesspool of ignorance on Cod,GeoW,and Halo servers,KZ2's multiplayer not being as popular isnt exactly a bad thing.
