i loved the Killzone 2 online, you couldnt just run and jump around like in Halo or UT. You had to play it strategically or run in and die with a cent bot or bomb in your hand to get a few kills. People didnt like it cause it wasnt easy. Best online shooter for me

It's a pick up and play just like Call of Duty or Halo, or any console FPS for that matter. The only shooter on consoles that isn't pick up and play is SOCOM: Confrontation.

The reason why it wasn't so popular is because of many things, for one you start off with the Helghast or ISA standard rifle and you have like 32 bullets. Really? The first time I played the game it was a major turnoff and I didn't start playing it against until August. It's almost like they expect you to die. It was really annoying having to scavenge bullets/guns while people are shooting at me. Thankfully I got my 8 medals to start off with more ammunition, but I shouldn't have had to do that.

It was a good game and it's still pretty popular online, just not the new maps which I can't understand, considering those are the best maps in the game, and unlike 360 you're allowed to share you're profile with 5 systems.

Really? I played it like it was COD4 (just to laugh when people say "you can't play it like a run and gun or you'll die!!") and my K/D is 2.39 in 9 games. In 5 of those games I've played with the highest ranks, so I'm not just playing noobs. The game is fun but people need to stop acting like it's the Counter Strike 1.6 or Quake 3 of consoles. It's another shooter that takes little skill to play but since it feels different from most shooters, people have this misconception that it takes skill.

What killed the replay value for me was the copmplete lack of a FFA mode and you ALWAYS span in the same rooms. when there are only 2-3 exits available per team I quickly start feeling like im just repeating the same routine over and over.

Also the game lacks weapon variety. theres only 1 weapon per type to choose from i would probably have played a good deal longer if there was more customisation that way.

[QUOTE="San_09"][QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"]Although I didn't really want to trade it in... I ended up trading in Killzone 2 today along with 4 other good games for Uncharted 2. I really wanted UC2 and was broke, but I didn't want to trade in Killzone 2 if possible... but I ended up having to in order to get UC2. They ended up giving me like $25 for it, after the special deals that added like 35-50% to each item or something like that. Now you may be asking yourself why I'd trade in a game I didn't really want to trade in... It's because of the online. I don't play it anymore. I played it out the first month or so the game was out. After unlocking everything, the game just lost it's appeal. People ruined Killzone 2's online IMO w/Sentry Turrets and air support. It's so obnoxious going up against a team that does nothing but spam sentry turrets and air support... and so many teams started doing that. Not only that, but there was NO matchmaking or party system, which pretty much killed the online automatically. It made it so hard to just get in a match with your friends or get on the same team as them, not to mention communicate with them when trying to join a different match. I was in a clan and we never played one match together as a team, not even a practice match... all thanks to the lack of party system, communication, and matchmaking.

..You actually traded in 4 games just to get Uncharted 2? Wow, some people really are desperate...

5 games.

its up to your team mates to create spawn points. On certain levels, you could make a spawn point right outside an enemy bunker or in there re-spawn point, so you could sit there and kill them. Wasnt that easy as you had to hide from the bots

How about this...

The game was ridiculously over-rated and wasn't fun after a short period of time.

It is still heavily played online and will likely be that way for a long time. Most games on XBL/PSN have a hefty following of players. Define "popular"? 1 million unique players a day? No. But there are literally dozens and dozens of 32 players servers on Killzone 2.

As for the controls; The controls were fine.

Sure, Killzone 2 isn't a pick up and play game, but if the controls were tighter, it would have easily been one. The content of the game was not difficult at all, there is no real learning curve to the game imo. It's all about adapting to the sluggish controls. The only aspect of K2 that I would consider hardcore was the lack of reticle on the toughest setting.

oh gawd i forgot about that most BS gamemechanic in multiplayer ever. 90* of the matches on radec academy ended up with with killfarming or being killfarmed outside the (enemys) SPAWN room or better yet both teams spawning right ontop of the objective for 2 minutes straight. Thats a core gamemechanic completely oblitterating all the fun out of a otherwise tactical game

the only reason i did not return the game for that bodged spawnflare was hoping theyd patch it so it could not be used within X distance of spawnrooms and objectives.
did they ever do this?

Considering MW has a much larger community and scored the same here on GS (9.0), this is actually the other way around. For whatever reason, MW is just much more popular, and while KZ2 has the better graphics, the frame rate is much better (60fps vs 30 fps) on MW making for smoother animations and an overall better feel.

Play and get good at Skirmish mode before you go online if you are having trouble in multiplayer. Killzone is a great game and the people who love it love it for what it is.

No but they removed the spawn shield so it cannot be used for spamming spawn attacks on an objective point or spawn point. Its way better now. Those cluster****s are far less likely.

Again, plenty of people still play the game online and I have zero problems finding a full 32 game on standard and DLC maps. Plus its tons of fun and one of the best semi-realistic shooters this gen. Bullets do the right amount of damage and aside from the occasional late detection its pretty good @ making sure that where you aim is where the bullet will land.
