My reason is pretty much I don't want to have to upgrade my system. The consoles give you a good couple years of gaming, and you don't need to buy new graphics cards for them or anything.
Plus, I prefer the console controller. The genres I most enjoy are action games, shooting games, and platformers, and the console controller works pretty well for those.

Yeah, but PC games have crap gamepad support, especially FPS.

True but console FPS games are tailored for the speed of an analog and PC FPS games are tailored for the speed of a mouse. Using a gamepad on a PC FPS generally will be less fluid than using one on a console, even the 360 controller.

I see, I thought this was about the gaming industry as a whole.Well in that case you're probably right.

This forum is a horrendous poll to base the industry on. It's only good for finding out a concencus of the people who frequent GameSpot. Actually I will do a poll but FPS will be left off. So what, RTS vs Platformers and Fighters?
Do a poll here on SW of this. I bet platformers and fighters will be at a low percentage.....

Basically, it only has RTSs, FPS, and RPGs. It has other genres btu they dont particularly play well and genres they have nothing good in at allMMORPGs? Simulators? Adventures? PC dominates these genres as well you know, and even if in your opinion "they don't particularly play well" (and you're saying this about things like WoW, The Sims, Flight Simulator), doesn't mean they don't exist, or aren't a legitimate reason for owning a PC. As for your comment about racers, the 2006 GOTY was on PC (yes I know it's a dead horse, but if you keep bringing up PCs have no racers (it has GTR, Need for Speed, F1, Nascar, Grand Prix in spades). The only genres it's really weak in are sports, fighters and platformers. As these genres are usually criticised as the lightest, I don't see the problem.

i have a usb controllerSo the people who have 300 hour saves in FF games, have 5000 matches played of Halo 2 online and have beaten Ninja Gaidens' Master Ninja Mode are casuals? Rash generalizations anyone?
you can also get an adapter for your controller......
oh .. and you can hook up your pc to your tv
so really.. pc does everything console does
devs just dont support it as well
consoles are for the casuals
"i dont wanna think about getting the best performance out of my game, i just wanna play" kind've mantra
the cows and lemmings feel all hardcore when compared to the sheep, but when it comes to pc they seem to refer to the ability to relax, not wanting to have to think... sounds like they play some challenging hardcore games

i have a usb controllerAh, i love this argument. How convienent is it to hook up your pc to your hdtv out in your living room? You have to monopolize the pc for games on your tv , nobody can use the pc while you are hogging it to play UT2004 . You have to have the right videocard that can output properly to your television. You have to have room on your coffee table for a keyboard and mouse. you have to have optical output from your sound card to run to your receiver. Yeah...no thanks. And the cost of getting my pc to come close to the equivalent of my 360 or ps3 would cost more than the two consoles combined....NOT WORTH IT.

woah dude completely missed my reason(not that I dun want to but I can't) I dun have the money to keep upStoner-Dude
This is the only reason why I enjoy console gaming more. I just cant afford to "beef up my rig" right now so I generally only play RTS's and Valve shooters on my computer.
I use to play pc games. But i stopped when xbox came out. I just don't like the pc experience. The keyboard gives me cramps. There was always some patch or or update i had to deal with. I got caught up in the whole video card, hardware upgrade thing a few years ago and it was a complete waste of money for me. With consoles, i can just concentrate on the games. With the pc i was fuddling around with settings and patches more than i was playing the game. Videodogg

The three genres you listed were Racers, Platformers and Fighting games. There are a few flaws in your argument. For Racing, the PC had the best Racing game last year, and so far the only AAA racer this gen. As for the other two genres, they have been rather stagnant. Platformers haven't had anything noteworthy since Psychonauts, which was on PC, and has been re-released on Steam for the PC. As for Fighting games, many of the best ones last year were retro games that were downloadable via XBLA or VC, or GT, even. >_>
