The Zelda fanbase is one of the worse along with CoD, Sonic, FF and Pokemon.

Honestly, I don't think the COD fanbase is as bipolar or crazy as the other 4. They're just brogamers. :P
what the hell is a brogamer? someone was bantering around with this term on another post, and i wasn't sure how to take it.I'm very skeptical about this Zelda...
If its "oh look the monster opened his mouth this way! Slash up and down!!!" It's probably a no buy for me... unless the story is just amazing.
Infinite_Access
It will probably be a no buy for you, then. In all 3D Zelda games, the combat is more like puzzle solving than fighting. None of them have ever had challenging combat. The closest thing to challenging that I can think of is when you face Shadow Link in OOT, but that only applies if you don't punk him with the Biggoron Sword or the Megaton Hammer.
Ditch the motion controls and make a sequel to Wind Waker.
... yeah I know neither of those things are likely to happen. But seriously, Wind Waker scared me at first but I ended up liking it. Twilight Princess looked great to me at first, but I ended up disliking it. That was just the art style though... Twilight Princess also bored the hell out me. Hopefully Skyward Sword is better.
Oh and Midna was a horrible character unless you are a pedo.

I actually played Phantom Hourglass a bit but it wasn't the same thing.
I just found Midna to be annoying and obnoxious, and not funny or whatever her purpose was in the game. Atleast Navi was pretty subtle. I didn't really like the wolf thing either.

there hasnt been a good zelda game since the n64... zelda is a very over rated series imo. i liked zelda 1 2 and 3 and the first 1 on the n64 after that meh...

I don't blindly defend Nintendo, they continue to release well received and highly acclaimed games so I give them credit where credit is due. I also give Valve, Bioware, and Blizzard credit for being amazing developers. When a company earns praise, they get it. I see you still think the world of yourself despite being one of the most irrational unintelligent posters I've met on System Wars. Did you get picked on in school and have a 2.0 GPA and a 1300 SAT or something? You sure do channel a lot of insecurities on here. You try to make yourself seem more mature and of a higher intelligence than everyone else.
The most deliciously ironic part of all this is that I actually play the Nintendo games I say I like in addition to many other games across all the platforms. You never play the Nintendo games, you just say they're terrible and Nintendo will never again be good. So let's think about this for a second: I judge games I actually play, you judge games you've never played. Which one is the blind judgment?

Navi was really just a glowing ball on your screen that occasionally made fun of Link or the things going on, and sometimes pointed you in the right direction. Midna was a more exaggerated and humanized version who verbally treated Link like her **** So my point is, she was much more annoying than Navi.[QUOTE="Vesica_Prime"]

Yeah but making Link her ***** was pretty funny and at least she said things like "THIS IS NOT FRIED CHICKEN!" by accident instead of "HEY! LISTEN! LISTEN! HEY! HEY! HEY! LISTEN!".The wolf levels were pretty poorly done though, I tried to do a 3rd play through of the game, mainly so my friend who's a huge Zelda fan who has lacked a Nintendo console two gens running could see some of the game. All 3 times I stopped playing when I got to a wolf level, and I finally stopped playing it at all on the last wolf level because I was so bored of them by that point. The good thing is that the normal temples were excellent, among the best of any game yet, so assuming Ninty has cut out BS along the lines of the wolf levels Zelda's future should be bright.
You must be a Zelda fanboy who has never played Devil May Cry 3 in Turbo Mode. Because you cry about change and think combat in Zelda games is "fast paced." If anything, Skyward Sword doesn't look like it has changed enough given how much Aonuma has talked about "overhauling" it.
foxhound_fox
This.
As much as I love Zelda as a series it really seems to me that Nintendo could release Twilight Princess with new title and new boxart and people will stil hail them as innovating something.

As a huge Zelda fan, I have to admit I'd be lying if I didn't say they could remake a game, swap the colors, change a single control, add a single item, and give it a new title and it'd sell millions and get huge praise. I think they're doing more to change the series with this than they did with TP (not saying much, still a great game though) but it's not going to be as drastic of an overhaul as some were saying it would be. It's certainly not completely innovating with each new release, it doesn't need to. I'd blame fans more for this than Nintendo, they do their best to change it a tiny bit each time while still keeping it true to the series.I wouldn't suggest judging a developer's decision based on the reaction of the YouTube (or any online) community of a trailer.
Besides, Zelda trailers being received with skepticism is not something new, so that hardly means anything.
[QUOTE="WreckEm711"]This This too. The game will be great and once again, your crazy if you dont think so.If they kept it the same:
"Bu-bu-but Nintendo never changes anything! Rehash! Stuck in the past!"
If they change it:
"THEY RUINED IT THEY'VE LOST THEIR MINDS, IDIOTS GOSH!"
You've never played the game, chill a bit and wait for it to come out before you start bawing

I don't get why some see improving on the combat as a bad thing. The way SS is gonna do it essentially turns enemies into puzzles that test your reaction time and observational skills. They even turned Boss keys into puzzles! I'm personally pretty pumped for SS and can't wait to see more at E3.
I have mixed feelings about Twilight Princess. If it had come out in 2004 like it was supposed to, I probably would have loved it. Instead though, Nintendo molested it with a barrage of unnecessary delays just so they could not-so-sneakily make it a Wii launch title. When the game came out, it was already a year old, and people's tastes were shifting. The most unfortunate thing to happen to Twilight Princess was that it ended up being compared unfavorably to Oblivion. If Nintendo had just stuck to their original 2004 release date, the game would have been out a year before Oblivion and it would have been judged on its own merrits. Unfortunately though, it was already outdated when it came out, and no-one could overlook the cheesy mechanical music, lack of voice acting, and tacked on extra dungeons with worthless items that didn't add anything to the game's overall structure.
In short, the one big problem that I had with Twilight Princess was that Nintendo failed to release it when everyone was still excited for it. They dragged their feet because they wanted something big to woo people over to Wii with without having to actually make a new game, and as a result they tarnished the fan reception of what would otherwise have been one of the series' best. Nothing could save Twilight Princess from being outdated by the time Nintendo actually let us have it.
This may actually be the first Zelda I'm going to pass up, or possibly rent. That's got to be one of the dullest trailers I've seen for any game, perhaps because it looks like every other 3D Zelda game before it. I've grown up, Metroid's grown up, Mario's grown up, Zelda seems to be struggling in puberty. Seems like from many of the other responses in this thread, others have grown tired of it as well.
but it's zelda... it's all about those menacing puzzles and the dungeons.:) in fact, it's the only game that my wii will have played in well over a year. i can't wait.

The combat isnt really improved. And if enemys that basically scream at you "hey swing this way" is not a puzzle. Im still pumped for the game but these trailers dont even deserve to be in the same catagory as these

"One of the best parts of Zelda is the fast-paced combat,"
Most of the OP is ridiculous, but this one is almost sig worthy!
I've never known anyone that considered Zelda to have "fast paced combat", let alone allude to the combat being the focal point of LoZ gameplay.
And maybe this is just me, but I've never considered the Zelda series rich on replay value. When I play a new Zelda, I beat it to completion the first time and then play it again a few years later before the next one releases. Not saying that people don't replay these games, but I don't think the formula lends itself well to replay value. There is no (and never has been) deep combat in these games and as stated in the OP, the puzzles are a one shot deal. Its a good one time experience and is worth another play down the road when your memories of the game get fuzzy.
......and I really wish people could make up their mind. Nintendo stays the same too much. Nintendo changes too much. What is it really?
I've beaten Ocarina of Time 7 times and I used to play through it once a year from start to finish. I've beaten Majora's Mask and Link to the Past 3 times, and Link's Awakening twice. Maybe I was more Zelda obsessed back then since I was younger, but dang if I wasn't crazy about 'em. I have yet to finish a second run through Wind Waker or Twilight Princess, though. I'll get around to it eventually."One of the best parts of Zelda is the fast-paced combat,"

Yeah I was the same with the original and LttP when I was a kid too. And I beat OoT a few times just cause it was such a leap forward for 3d console gaming. I still dont think the design lends itself well to replay value.
And even if so, was your reasoning behind replaying those games really the combat? "fast paced combat?" lol.
Personally I'm just glad Nintendo has finally made a Zelda game for this gen, Zelda is getting over shadowed by Mario this gen...
I just got goosebumps from watching that Twilight Princess unveil again :P.

If that were the case then MGS4 would have been game of the gen just because of the TGS 05 trailer. :P

Heh, definitely not the combat. I simply enjoyed the experience of revisiting my digital haunts, and especially going through the story over again. I liked the experience of finding the treasures again, and using them to open up more of the world. I'd often times do things to make the game more challenging. Eventually I got all 20 hearts, and got all the gold Skulltula treasures (although I exploited a glitch for that). Second time through, I didn't pick up the half damage enchantment, and then I eventually got to the point where I was trying to beat the whole game with only 3 hearts. It was a pain in the butt and I can't remember if I actually pulled it off or not.[QUOTE="Episode_Eve"]

The funny thing is that the trailer was pretty much a perfect representation of how the game was going to be. The game was awesome and has a MC of 96. The only reason SW hates on it is because of the GS score which is funny because Sheep are usually the most vocal about how scores dont matter. And for everyone else, they just hate Zelda and the score gives them a good excuse to bash a game.

I enjoyed the game, more-so than most it seems. As for the hate, or more often dislike for the game I see it everywhere, not just SW. It really seems that TP is the one Zelda title that most fans have a "meh" attitude towards.
I guess all I was getting at though is that we should wait and see how fans react to the actual game and not judge fan reactions from two different reveal trailers that had completely different direction and focus.
