ReCore’s co-creator, Mark Pacini, said as much during a recent interview with GamesBeat. In the interview, Pacini talked about ReCore’s inspiration from the Mega Man and Metroid series, and how difficulty influences a game.

While Pacini is the founder of ReCore’s development studio, Armature Studio, he previously worked at Retro Studios as director for the famed Metroid Prime Trilogy. In the GamesBeat interview, Pacini was asked about the length of ReCore, after which the game director answered that he’s actually pretty horrible at estimating gameplay hours. He mentions how he initially said that the first Metroid would take up to 8 hours to complete, although he ended up spending 3 times that. While he warns that it’s an estimate, he believes that ReCore will take roughly 8 hours to complete.

“I’m horrible at gameplay hours. With the first Metroid I said it was going to be eight hours and it ended up being something like 24. I think we’ve put a lot of value into this game, though. It’s the proper length of time for the adventure, the story we’re trying to tell. Take that with a grain of salt, knowing I’m horrible at estimate. It’s eight hours, and take that with a warning”, Pacini told GamesBeat.

ReCore is $40, I'm curious to see if that price range will get any good sales as well and the first game to be part of Play Anywhere is gonna be interesting as well. I'll go with a 8/10.

Edit: I'm still very on the fence about this game. I'm tempted at $40, but I still want to see some reviews on it. I have watched some gameplay videos and it looks like it could be fun, but I want to be sure it's all good.

Good one TC, very hyped for this game....mostly because I'm a huge Metroid Prime fan, but also because of the scifi setting with the robots, love that stuff and Metroidvania style games in general.

I guess this is the system wars meta game now right....Ill have a little fun, listen if the game comes out exactly how I'm expecting it, I think it should get 8/10 overall. If they do something special maybe more. I'll be happy with 8 because an 8 from critics for this kind of game will be fine for me and more a 10/10 personally speaking.

If it comes out less, well who knows maybe it will fall flat, I certainly hope not and I would be surprised if it comes out bad. I read Microsoft had staff that helped with development, and the director Mr Pacini directed the Prime games so I really don't know....its hard to keep expectations in check for this one.

I really hope the robots can be useful familiars and the game challenging. Its like Symphony of the Night all the different familiars I loved.

Anyways, only 2 weeks left to find out!

I'm excited for this game to be Play Anywhere, I hope to get some good hours of game play out of it. I have a feeling there will be some tough difficulty for me in harder settings.

The brief interlude during E3'15 caught my interest and the forth video has really captured my attention as this is the first I've seen it. I'd like to hear more about these dungeons. A $39.99 game I can pick up for under $30.00 at Best Buy? Why not.

Played it and it's a solid 8 might get a 9 depending on how good the later levels and bosses are.

I see the Mega Man influence with the air dash. Unsure about the Metroid influence, but I guess i'll be waiting for reviews rather than pre-ordering. No more pre-orders. It's not like I can't walk to the store and pick one up on release day anyways without a pre-order.

Don't listen to the cow haters, the reason why mighty no 9 sucked is becuz he put all the polish into this game imho. MS is trying to make it a main franchise game. If you like metroid you will love this game.

When I talked to one of the devs he said they have actually designed enough extra bot companions to make an entire separate game. All of them bring different environmental mechanics to the game so it's got a lot of expansion potential. They wanted to try out making a solid core and then add on to it as popularity demands. I actually wish all games did this. Core game 39.99 and 20 worth of optional add ons instead of $99 deluxe editions.

I voted a 6 on the poll. I am excited about the game because it is a new IP, but I have NO idea if I will enjoy it yet. I went with 6 based on the videos I have seen and the hype for it.

Voted A. I'll probably check it out when it cheap and I have enough Bing rewards, or when its free for GWG. I wouldn't be surprised if this game gets one of those free 24 hour days like Sunset Overdrive.
