I was extremely angry... twice. For one, my 360 died on me only 91 days after purchase. Imagine that, "jumping in" to next gen only for the system to die on you 91 days after the purchase. Then, it died on me again about 10 months later. I actually wrote about it in my blog like a month before it RROD a second time about how I "found my love for the 360" again, only to have it RROD on me a month later, lol.
But, I've finally gotten over it. If it dies again, whatever. As long as MS fixes it for free. I have one year warranty left.
[QUOTE="SpinoRaptor"]I got it during Halo 3 launch. :(
I have not got it since.

No need to be sad sweetheart.
Anyway i keep getting it but nothin wrong with my console, i must have gotten it like 5-6 times now. 3 rings, 4 rings...
I think 4 rings means its overheated.
And don't call me sweetheart.
I am a 360 owner (though I never will consider myself a fanboy) and my first 360 lasted for around 11 months before I got the dreaded RRoD. I sent it away and, credit to M$, I had it back in 2 weeks. Then ofcouse, a week later it RRoD'd again - this coming just weeks before the release of Mass Effect which at the time was my most anticipated game. That did anger me.
I don't expect my TV or DVD-player to breakdown so I wasn't happy to accept the 360's flaws. As far as I was concerned, paying for it, was the least M$ could do. However it still was and still is my favourite console because of the one thing that matters - the games.
Not to mention that since I received my elite (November of last year) I haven't had a problem yet.
I was just wondering, did getting the red ring of death change your views on the system? I'm just talkin about the Microsoft fanboys. I have all three next gen systems. I love each equally (i'm of the mind that there's fun games on all systems, so why bottleneck myself to just one) and so far no problems *knocks on wood, and crosses fingers*. It seems like I hear more about the red ring of death than any other of the system problems so I'm just curious. When it happened to you, did your opinion of being a fanboy change? Or was it not that big of a deal to you?johnnyv2003
im currently on my 3rd 360 (brought nearly 2 years ago)
the first one died bout 2 months after i got it. I immediately went onto websites etc to see just how long 360's last usually as at the time i was thinking that every 360 i have is gunna last like 2 months. The 2nd one then lasted just over a year was very annoyed at it happening AGAIN and even more so as it happened on xmas eve. On my 3rd now
360 is still my fav system and has the best games for my tastes. If it gets RROD again ill simply just send it off for a replacement.

All four parts lit up means you forgot to plug in the A/V cables..
I am on my 4th 360, and no.
If it would have cost me to fix it, I would not own one anymore, but since it was free, it didn't bother me that much.
well i got my 360 at launch(march '06 for us aussies) and it RROD'd when i had the COD4 beta/ right before halo3 so it lasted a good year and half and i was annoyed but more worried than anything.
anyway i sent it off, didnt pay a cent got it back 2 weeks later and now its soo much quiter and cooler than it previously was and works fine... i mean it was an inconvenience but thats about it. i would be pretty mad if it happened multiple times though.
That warranty will be up soon.
I expect a lot of angry people once they realize they have to pay to get a 360 problem fixed.

If I RRoD after the warranty is up, and MS refuses to do anything about it for free, I will probably fix it myself or give up on the 360.

i know this is kind of a dumb question, but how's the ventilation on your 360? are you keeping it relatively cool (i.e. not on top of another really hot electronic component).
I actually got my RRoD the moment I put the Halo 3 disk in. I went to purchase it (like a good fanboy, on launch day), and it locked up during the main manu. When I restarted, the red lights appeaerd.
Aside from the rage, I sent it to repairing, got a used core on the cheap (on the very, very cheap) and actually flipped it off for a small profit (well, minus small ebay fees) when my original came back.
It hasn't really hampered my opinion on MS' part too much. They screwed up hard. Very hard. That's bad. They owned up to it very well, and worked to make amends as well as possible. That's good.
ive had a red ring twice (well 3 times if you count the morning after that curry i had...ouch) but in both occations ive just gone out and brought a new 360 and then taken the old fauty one back in the new box for a refund. retailers are abliged to give a full refund if the good fall in the first 7 days.
Im not a fanboy, I bought the 360 because it was out first no other reason, and I really wanted a next gen console. So I was one of the guys who stood out all night long in line to get one :) That being said I have had the RROD one time since my launch 360. It came about one year after I bought it, and I was pissed to have to shell out $140+ to get it fixed. But it was cool to get a check in the mail a few months later for the same amount that MS sent out, plus a 3 year warranty.
I own a wii to in which I have a few games, but I mainly use it for sports games and some game called playground that we bought for my 3 year old daughter which is quiet fun. I am not a fanboy, I will probably buy a PS3 down the road althrough since FF13 is coming to the 360 the reasons for getting a PS3 are less and less these days. Will see.
As for the RROD changing my views, it pissed me off like it did everyone im sure. Although I think they addressed the issue fairly good giving me a 3 year warranty as well as my money back that was spent on fixing it.
