Reggie is terrible. Nintendos talk as of late puts me off from wanting the WiiU. Obviously I will still buy it if they impress me with games though.

[QUOTE="AznbkdX"][QUOTE="Giancar"] Due stupid management and cockiness. Reggie is seriously going there. As everybody has noted Nintendo PR are out of control since some time ago.Giancar
Welp they don't got much to lose at this point. The other systems haven't even shown their names yet. :P
While I feel this one isn't exactly boasting, if they are on other comments, then I just see it as good fun really. You deserve some leeway if you're out the gate first. Its always been this way.
The PR of a big world brand like Nintendo has always lots to lose, lots. But despite some BS PR they haven't done anything brand destroying. I'll give you that some competition bashing is always fun though :PThey got lots to lose, but I feel that its not really that detrimental when others have unknown products at hand. Like you said nothing too bad on their rep since they can actually say something about an actual existing product. The others got nothing to say back really without looking like idiots.
Now once they start leaking information (none of it has even been confirmed to my knowledge at least) then its easy to see if Ninty is full of it or not on PR.
I still think ppl are taking his statements as too serious.
your b1tch ass couldn't put the "c" their heil? I am disappointed. Is this what you teach your children? They should just half ass it. Might as well start buying them kinect games.[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"][QUOTE="Heil68"]Fuk Reggie Fuk WiiU Fuk NintendoThe_Game21x

F*cking cIassic[QUOTE="LostProphetFLCL"][QUOTE="Willy105"] Yeah, but he saw how even MORE people than that did that with the Wii, who did not have that has a selling point.

The Wii was a novelty that appealed to non-gamers than anything, not to mention ANYTHING Nintendo has a huge clan of drones mindlessly following it.
I want to ask the question to Reggie, why do PC gamers repeatedly dump money into their computers to upgrade them every so often? Hint: It's not because of some motion-control esque gimmick.
Using a market has ridiculously niche and enthusiastic as the PC gaming market is a very bad analogy; because compared to the numbers Nintendo is used to, the entire PC gaming population (which I am a part off) added to their audience would end up being a small percentage of the total amount of people that bought their last home console Mario Kart game. Nintendo wants to go for the bigger pie, and those people don't even know the difference between an Xbox and an Xbox 360.Well then how about all the people who jumped from PS1 to PS2? Or people who went from NES to SNES? Or PS2 to 360?
The simple fact is console gaming (and gaming in general) has ALWAYS gone after the increased power. It doesn't just make for prettier games but leads to MORE innovation in gaming. I mean look how big of a deal Super Mario 64 was. It took the platform game into the 3rd dimension and had a MUCH bigger impact that any nunchuck controller or tablet controller ever will.
Nintendo aso needs to remember that the clientel it is going after now are also a very fickle clientel who will very likely have NO loyalty to Ninty. Ninty really needs to watch out and care for their core support and should be thankful that such support is there after the likes of the Wii, which I have personally seen turn people away from Nintendo.
I hope Ninty enjoys the Wii-U's success while it lasts. New consoles are coming around the corner and this time I don't see Ninty's console standing up to the big boys.

NPH is awesome k? :)
Still loads of fun watching him on the Harold and Kumar movies too haha.
Oh and, More power ----> more room/tools for inovations It's not just "shiny" graphics. We've heard that for 6 years.Giancar
Yep. It breaks the artificial barriers that are keeping games back.
The problem though is that while some break an amount of the artificial barrier, some have trouble piercing the natural one which is in conjunction with it.
This is when you get dull games with nothing but effects going for it and no real fun gameplay. Its a shame really for ones that fall into this trap.
please keep your sexual orientation out of this. it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.[QUOTE="jeffster85"][QUOTE="GamerwillzPS"]

not saying isn't. but he's also into guys ;) lol been watching HIMYM lately mostly for him. =PI don't see anything that's not true about his statements. MS and Sony both tried to copy the success of the Wii by adding Kinect and Move to their existing systems. Rumor has it that the new Xbox will also feature Kinect from the start. Following the success of the DS, Sony has added touch pads to their Vita. Other than MS making online console gaming mainstream, I don't see Sony and MS doing much to change the way we play games or the types of games we play.
So now that they've had a tepid first response from their attempt at a more powerful console, they go right back to their comically reductive "It's just pretty graphics, no one cares" attitude.
Smooth.
Also, uh...the people on the block starting to get numb. Or something.
I hope Sony and Microsoft humble the S*% out of Nintendo, they are completley out of control right now.

Beyond that, this is a very mild statement compared to the sh*t that we hear from Sony and MS reps on a regular basis. Even when Sony is floundering in last place they have the nerve to say much more than this.
Plus, in this case, Reggie is right. It certainly comes off as cocky, but he is correct.
Not only is he not really boasting, but he's sort of correct with what he said. But this is System Wars and its a Charizard thread. It's like a perfect storm of worthlessness. :]jg4xchamp^Pretty much this.
Um... what? Humble or not (and there's no Sony-level arrogance in anything he said), the man is absolutely right.I hope Sony and Microsoft humble the S*% out of Nintendo, they are completley out of control right now.

Considering how expensive an average game is to produce, not having as much power isn't necessarily a bad thing. We're entering a point where the cost vs graphical benefit is diminishing. Are we willing to allow this to stagnant creativity and allow blockbusters to dominate the marketplace while everyone else would be struggling to compete?Wellp this just goes to show how out of touch Nintendo is with the core gamer base.
It is EXACTLY more power that people want out of their gaming consoles. Has he not taken notice of how people have continued to jump from gen to gen to new consoles whose main improvement over the previous ones was power?
God Reggie really is a moron....

Who says you have to use all that power on graphics?

Graphics will be diminished in importance, but AI, physics, and many other artificial gameplay pieces will become better. This is what I think will happen which I'm guessing was your conclusion as well.
I do hope though that the indy scene does populate more which rarely needs as much of the above compared to high budget games. Big devs are in ways a stagnation to creativity at times.

This. I can predict that either the next Xbox console or the next Playstation console will win the console war instead of the Wii U, IMO. Why?
1.) The tablet controller isn't exactly innovative like the Wii-mote was, nor does the Wii U have exactly a big, huge following everywhere like the Wii did.
2.) Hardcore gamers are going to have a tough time going for the Wii U over the next Xbox or the next PS console, especially when the Wii U is barely on par with PS3/360 in graphics & power, & the casuals have all moved on from the Wii, & doesn't exactly feel the need to spend $300 or $350 when they're more or less happy with the Wii.
Reggie has sure been flapping the gums a lot lately. Some facts, this bravado thrown in, and a few out and out fibs.
Seeing as I don't think he's dumb enough to think this cocky little speech will actually affect MS/Sony, I can only assume he believes he needs to make splashy headlines to get the WiiU some more exposure.
All the Wii U needs is this:
Then, it will be awesome.
You just wait...
:P

Damn don't remind me. :P
I still remember for the longest time getting Majora's Mask not to play it because I needed that. It took many months of forgetting about it, then one day remembering that Majora's Mask was still in its box until we finally went to get the pack.

No Nintendo has always been the most arrogant. Ever since they screwed Sony during their partnership. Nintendo fanboys need to get over themselves. Nintendo was talking crap about the PS2 (we remember what happened there) and Sony has stated the truth about not competing with Nintendo because the PS3 is clearly superior to the Wii no matter what the sales are and the Wii is a casual console. Sony is still the best company in the industry when it comes to quality and thats the fact. Nintendo has not made a GOOD console since the SNES even though I owned all of their consoles except the Wii/WiiU.Ooooooo that sounded like something that would come from the Sony camp.

For their first foray into it it has done pretty well I would think. I've heard good impressions from most users on it.
They got a ways to go until they get near the other two models but they have been out for awhile now. For now though it sounds like a fun interface and system.
