same thing, sales will drop off and hit a stone wall in octoberTHEKING1337
No. No I don't. I don't remember massive lines, wait lists, world wide sell-outs, and I certainly don't remember sales being anywhere close to what the PS2, 360 or Wii have seen.
So what is your point?
This is what I have been saying for a while now.
Launch numbers are almost completely irrelevent.

What week is it? OMG the Wii is selling better then both the PS1 and N64. Â
[QUOTE="GundamGuy0"]What week is it? OMG the Wii is selling better then both the PS1 and N64.what? the wii has sold as many playstation when the playstation was in 2 years.Â
Trading_Zoner
Wheather the n64 was a flop, or not in sales one fact still remains.
N64 & Goldeneye>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> wii and it's entire library!
[QUOTE="Trading_Zoner"]Thing is, the differences in sales between the Wii and PS3 is much more drastic. I agree with this guy here. The PS3 has a lot more pushin' to do.
OMG guys Xbox sold better in it's first few months than PS2!
Look what happened there.

So the Euro launch sales you've been bragging about are irrelevant.Tristam22
Yes.
That's right. Â
BTW I, personally haven't really been bragging about those sales. I realize that launch numbers are almost a non-factor.

The N64 started well because people were used to the greatness of the NES and SNES. When they realized there was a better product out there then sales dropped. Same can be said for Sony... The PS3 started well because people were used to the greatness of the PS1 and PS2. When they realized there was a better product out there then sales dropped.Carmilla31
The only difference there is this: PS3 is by far the best system to own for the long term.
It offers the best value for all kinds of people.Â

If it provides enough good games.PS1 only barely broke 10 mil? and n64 didnt even hit 8 mil? wow and i everybody i knew back in late elementary and middleschool had an n64, and only half of them including me had a ps.snakeofsolid
That's becuase PS1 sold well among adults. It shifted the industry focus more on the 18-34 year old male. While N64 catered more toword kids. And long time nintendo fans.

If it provides enough good games. There will be plenty. Belive me. Sony themselves are making sure of that.....Â

LOL. Clear opinion. If a $250 system gives me more enjoyment than a $600 one, clearly it does not offer the best value. Value is completely subjective.I am certain it wouldn't happen again. I think the Wii is a success and have got some great exclusives in the future and the PS1 I think came out before the N64. It won't be like last time. Nintendo have a great console that appeals to lots of people at different ages.chocolate1325
That's true. But it also could be a fad. It has SUCH a different controller, and the controller is very akward when used like a conventional controller.
So when people just want to use it as a normal controller, it's wierd.
Also, it has terrible graphics, and almost none of the BIG third party games that 360 and PS3 has.Â

It also has alot of extra features, better graphics and sound, more BIG games (exclusive and nonexclusive), more games announced in general, and it has a great online service as well.

How the **** do you know that`? That is complete bull****, if PS3 fails utterly along with blu-ray then how is it the most long-term solution?[QUOTE="Trading_Zoner"][QUOTE="chocolate1325"]I am certain it wouldn't happen again. Of course it's my opinion.
I am allowed to have my own opinion right?Â

Why are you getting upset? It's obviously just my opinion.
And BTW Blue-ray WILL be the next standard. That is not my opinion, that is a fact.

Sorry, I was annoyed by something else. I agree that blu-ray will win, everything else is most unlikely.
What I intended to say is that you should not make a descision too early.

Once more, no offence.
HD movies - not necessary, DVD is fine. BIG games is subjective.Ah, but PS3 does more than just games. It has Next-Gen Hi-Definition Movie playback with blue-ray as well. That's a HUGE advantage.

>That completely depends on the person. What if the person doesn't have an HDTV, doesnt want HD media, doesnt care for multimedia features? Thats really an opinion. I know that its equipped for the long term, but not all people will see it like that. I personally have no interest in it until it has a price drop, I'm much more interested int he 360 and Wii.The only difference there is this: PS3 is by far the best system to own for the long term.

Remember how the N64 is exactly like the Wii? Oh wait......

the past does not equal the future.samusarmada
I think thats why we study history to ensure we dont remake the same mistakes ove again. Havnt u heard the term that history repeats just with different people or things. There is a big possibility that the wii may hit a stone wall, with two popular power house franchises coming this holiday season. Its better to just wait and see what happens because in this day in age nintendo fracnchises arnt regarded with as much prestige as they used to.

Yeah. I agree. Launch numbers mean nothing. DC didn't have enough units for it's launch. At any point in time, things can change. Next month the PS3 amy be outselling everything, or it may not be. High launch sales mean nothing.
N64 is the best console of all time because of it's classics like super mario 64, Legend of Zelda Ocarin of Time, Majora's mask, Goldeneye, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Super Smash Bros., Perfect Dark, and resident Evil 2, and even aside from these Games you can find amazing games that are less known. Brandonio358
I agree, it's one of my favorite consoles.
