Your assumption is false that their fanbase stick with them, though same can't be said about Sony and its fan. Sony has a dud for $600 with no games and yet cows were buying it in pretty much same numbers as 360 last gen world wide. If anything Sony fans are way more forgiving than MS fans.

I just contend that the Playstation forums and social media of the day when the PS3 came out were full of criticisms and people begging for Sony to step it up when it came to producing games. In turn, Sony drastically cut the price on the PS3 over its lifetime and they secured plenty of exclusives while MS chased the Kinct dream. If we are being frank, they haven't pulled their heads out of their asses for a long time, even before the XBox One reveal.

We've seen what the Playstation fanbase does when they are backed against a wall and we see what the XBox fanbase does. Very different things. Very different results.

Anyways, if anyone actually thought the release of a $500 midgen refresh was going to make a big dent in Sony's sales then shame on you for being just straight up ignorant.

The XB1X was never going to "Save" Microsoft this gen, nor boost sales to some crazy degree. They lost this gen back in 2013 after Sony's E3 Press Conference. There was absolutely nothing Microsoft could have done to change their fate.

During the Scoprio hype, I kept telling everyone it was not gonna happen.

I kept telling people it was just gonna be another souped up Xbone.

I was right.

And those few Xbone fanboys I know, still have not forgiven me for being right. As if its my fault MS cannot get their heads outta their butts!

It successfully ended the power narrative, pixel counters, and blades of grass comparisons telling you what system to buy multi plats on.

It flopped. Your personal enjoyment of the console is totally different from whether the console is doing well or not.

The console is selling poorly compared to the competition and it's also lacking in the exclusive games department compared to the competition. It's doing so badly that the recently released Switch already has a better exclusive library than it and by this time next year it will be overtaking the Xbone or close to it.
