actually it hasn't changed THAT much... just lessened really. everyone's bored of bashing ps3, now nintendo's E3 is the latest big hit crunchUK

this pretty much, the ps3 has some legs to it now atleast, but nintendos e3....is up there with sony's 05

It was kind of ridiculous, I mean Sony has Riiiiigde Raaaaccer. And who could forget about the awesome giant enemy crabs?

People weren't jumping on the bandwagon, people were mad for themselves, and would have been if left in isolation. Sony had a $600 system with no games and a HUGE ego in 2006. Sony has since then lost the ego, cut prices, and started showcasing games.

Let's be clear here - Sony screwed up so badly that the *creator* of the original Playstation was fired from his job - what does that tell us? It means that they went "oh crap, we messed up". If anything, the fans of the PS3 owe the detractors a thank you. Sony doesn't have to work to win over cows - they had to work to redeem themselves to the rest of us.

And some people are (in my opinion rightly) going to take a long time to start trusting Sony again. They really messed up - E3 2006 was an embarassment to the industry.

a lot of critisism was justified back then, but don't tell me there weren't a bunch of people jumping on the 'hate sony' bandwagon. Even respected gaming publictaions jumped on it (including gamespot).

Remember when it was fashionable to hate on the 360 because all the angles the media spun on it, the gamers complaints. Everybody was jumping on the bandwagon to hate on the 360 just because it was thing to do and slightly, for the most part still is. I was thinking how have times changed? Do people really still hate the 360 and the rrod and lack of awesome new ips, or does the 360 have new ips?

Well, the PS3 has improved greatly, and come down in price. Of course the hate will go away.

Remember the first Red Steel Scans? Oh those were good days, days when we didn't know how things were going to turn out. All my faith in the Wii hasn't been lost just yet though, I just see Wii as another Nintendo console...a handful of great first party and third party games with a whole lot of garbage inbetween.

Sure, the 360 caught alot of negative stuff from fanboys, but the PS3 was hated by more than people outside of System Wars.

I have a PS3 I've had it since launch day, but I'm the first one to admit that Sony was very arrogant when they launched the PS3 at 600 dollars when the previous two were launched at 299.99. Sony has noone to blame but theirselves for alienating so many gamers. Sony has lost alot of market share this gen, I'd say they be lucky to sell at least 60million PS3s which is a big drop from over 100 million like the previous models.

I read that Sony was still looking to sell 150 million PS3s now that really has to be wishful thinking on their part. I have no doubt that they will outsell the 360, but nowhere near the likes of the PS1 or PS2.

There wasn't alot of 360 bashing in 2005 first it was bashed for having no games which it didn't, but like with most systems in their first year. The PS3 was bashed for the same thing. The 360 was also bashed alot for the red rings which it so rightfully deserved to be. Even with that it was nowhere near the bashing the PS3 got and deserved.

I own both the PS3 and the 360 I like em both the PS3 a bit more, but both companies that produces them messed up badly in my opinion

I don't know what's so hard to grasp about this. If you put out a console that's $600, showcase things no one cares about (Ridge Racer on the PSP? Seriously?) and then declare yourself the winner on day one... really, you're going to get a huge backlash.

The arrogance fo what Sony did at E3 2006 was unbelievable - and everyone but Sony fans had put up with over a year of stupidity from the Sony fans about how the PS3 would "replace PCs" (remember that with the PS2, and then the PS3?), "destroy" the 360, and how sixaxis would dominate the Wiimote. I mean... look... Sony got the hatred that it instilled.

E3 2007, Sony came out and was humble - they had fired the braying morons, they prepared games to show, they were honest about the timeline for what they were doing. E3 2008, they continued that - they said "it's the long haul" and didn't try to claim they could print love and perfect life. That's all there was to it - Sony announced a $600 system as though this was fair and proper - instead of being apologetic for their screw-ups (a $600 launch price on a mass-market system is a screw up). And now? They're getting better.

Back then? They deserved every ounce of hatred.

I really don't like my PS3 and I probably never will. I was going to sell it right after the Sony press conf... Until I seen a few new LBP videos... I just have to play that.

I think it's funny how 360 was so bashed. Comparing it to PS2 and Xbox. Calling it the Dream Cast. It proved all the haters wrong. Yet they still complain about RROD. Which has decreased dramatically since then.

e307 it was game-on for all parties.
