"gamers will be able to control system with smartphone"

Cool, Sony copying Microsofts smartglass.

Oh and if the next xbox launches at $300 (with sub) it could make it a lot more attractive than a $430 console.

you could control your ps3 with the psp or not:? This is simple remote play, which Sony used first for its products

With Gears franchise gone, the only AAA exclusives Microsoft will need to worry about are Forza and Halo. That should bring the total development costs down while increasing sales for both series. This is a great day for a Microsoft Stock holder.

I think a 299$ price tag like what the PS1 and PS2 costed at launch would make it fly off the shelves. (of course given they would also supply their favourite franchises like GT, Crash (Knack?), MGS (5) and GTA V (pay Rockstar to make an ehanced PS4 port) and next-gen FF)

But we have to keep in mind that 299$ back then would translate to 399$ or more today.

I'd make it cost 444$, i.e. the "tripple quad".

[QUOTE="CallOfDutyRulez"]Bad move, SONY. Microsoft could make the starting price $199 with an $80 monthly payment for 2 years and it would crush the PS4.BPoole96

Are you out of your mind? That would cost over $2000 lol

:P Lemming aren't really good at math or logic for that matter.

Not too bad. I'll be waiting for them to drop to $399 and then I'll take the plunge to PS4.

What's so funny? With only 2 AAA franchises to worry about, money set aside for exclusives would come down drastically. With only 2 exclusives left, xbox gamers won't have to consider buying one exclusive and not buying the other. Lack of choice = more sales per game. This leads to same revenue while lower development costs, meaning profit from exclusives will skyrocket.

Yeah because a $170 price drop on the launch model 7 years later is the same thing.

[QUOTE="CallOfDutyRulez"] I wouldn't put it past me. Most people are only interested in what they pay upfront, not the hidden costs. This is going to drive Microsoft's quarterly profits to $1 billion for the xbox division. Good thinking, Microsoft! I can't wait to buy it!!!CallOfDutyRulez

Yeah, I'm sure nobody would notice $1000/year disappearing from their banks accounts.

Perception is more important than reality when it comes to making profits. $199 with an $80/month contract sounds more pleasing than $430.

You seem to think most people are as dumb or you...or trolling?

You can buy an iphone at like $600 or you can go on contract and end up paying $1000+. Guess which is more popular.

So what are you going to do if SONY goes under? Neither Microsoft nor SONY are charities. They have to be financially solvent for them to continue making games. If SONY's current plans to flood the industry with mediocre, half-assed games aren't working or turning much of a profit, it's time they changed their strategy, don't you think?

Lol that's not gonna happen. I bet it'll be $299 with a 2 year XBL contract at $15-$20 a month.

What? I think it'll be better for my stocks if Microsoft priced it at $199 with $80/month for 2 years. Microsoft will succeed with that model

Incorrect, sir. I own several Microsoft Stock, an xbox 360, all Halo games for the 360, all Forza games, and, of course, every single CoD game released for the 360.

Depending on the SKUs (and the validity of this rumour), i'd likely go for the more expensive model. Still, that's $600, so I hope it's worth it.

I'm not a business man and I don't give a $hit about the money that these companies make. All I care for is games. If Sony goes under I'll move on to PC like I did when Sega died. I don't pay for mediocre experiences just because I have a fanboy love for a company. I go where the games are.

1) Almost every PC publisher is moving to consoles. 2) If SONY does go out of the console race, Microsoft will enter a golden era of 3rd party exclusives. Sorry, cow, but Microsoft's innovative business strategy trumps the competition once again. I'm proud to be a Microsoft stock holder. GO GO STEVE BALLMER!!!

I'll dip, or somebody with a little less sense may start to rag on you. However, you're gonna need to stipulate what a PC publisher is, who falls under that title, and exactly how many have moved, comparative to the total number.

Gaming companies that were primarily invested in PC gaming. IE. Valve, Blizzard, EA, etc. All of them are now whoring themselves out to the consolites. Microsoft will win the gaming war. I look forward to the healthy profits I'll make from the Microsoft stocks I own.

You mean Valve, the company that owns Steam? EA is almost exclusively a multiplat publisher.  And Blizzard goes both ways, but mostly focuses on PC.  They do have a pretty popular PC game, it's called WoW, there are something like 9 million subscribers.

Indeed. Companies have gone multiplatform because of the PS3's massive failure. Had PS3 had a 75% console market share, I'm sure many of the console 3rd party publishers would never have made games for the 360 or the PC. Developing for 1 platform alone isn't enough to cover the costs anymore. With SONY out, Microsoft will command a 90% share on the console market. When that happens, previous 3rd party console publishers will come back to console exclusivity. PC publishers will realize how much pirating has destroyed PC gaming profitability and they'll move to focus more on releasing xbox exclusives. I can't wait until that day comes. My stocks are ready.

You are a special kind of stupid.  EA has always been a multiplatform publisher.  And valve's console ports werent originally even on the PS3 this gen.  And how many stocks do you own, because I highly doubt you will earn much of anything.  And you're probably too stupid to diversify.

[QUOTE="lostrib"]

[QUOTE="CallOfDutyRulez"] Indeed. My stocks are ready.CallOfDutyRulez

You are a special kind of stupid.  EA has always been a multiplatform publisher.  And valve's console ports werent originally even on the PS3 this gen.  And how many stocks do you own, because I highly doubt you will earn much of anything.  And you're probably too stupid to diversify.

LOL... Is the cow butthurt that he doesn't own Microsoft stocks? It doesn't matter if EA has always been a multiplatform publisher or not. My point is that PCs will lose their exclusives and there will be no more PC ports once SONY is out.

First off, not a cow, trolltard.  Second, I know how to properly invest my money instead of relying on one company.  And that last part is just plain stupid.

$400/$500 sounds about right. This would grant Sony to sell the console at cost or with a slight profit.

None the less; too expensive. Not buying if true.

When it was reported months back that the PS4 would cost 40,000 yen in Japan, at the time the currency value was at $430, which really makes me wonder the strength of the source since anybody with Google could have figured that equivalency out. Given that the Japanese currency has changed in value since then that 40,000 yen is closer to $400 now. I'm more inclined to believe a $400 or $450 selling price, but seeing $430 just makes me think the source was just a geek who did a Google currency check two months ago. And that was the rumored price when everybody thought it'd be 4GB, not it's 8GB of DDR5. Still, Sony might not make it at a profit out the door, they might absorb some loss early on to attract gamers, or maybe not, the price could be in any range but I don't see it going higher than $500 realistically, even for a different model.

[QUOTE="CallOfDutyRulez"] Perception is more important than reality when it comes to making profits. $199 with an $80/month contract sounds more pleasing than $430.

No it doesn't. If money is so tight that $430 is a big deal, then $80/month is a pretty hefty chunk of change. Lower it to something like $20 or $30 a month, and then you're talking. But $80 a month just seems like way too much. At that rate, it'll only take 3 months before it's more expensive than just paying for it upfront.

More then I want to pay for one. I'd like to know what the differences are between each model. I have no plans to pay over $500 for a game console. Over $400 is still to much. After taxes and an extra controller, but a couple of games, you're pushing almost $700. No tell what Sony's online subscriptions will be like.

blackace
400-$500+ but no BC?

Just like with every console at launch, ever, I'll be buying the most expensive model as the base model will likely be hamstrung in a lot of ways.

I dont remember NES-PS2 having mutiple models during launch.

$430 would be an odd price point. If anything they would make it $450, and I bet that model is bare bones.

The real question is does the lack of a subscription based model mean PSN is still free?

I'll join in on the speculation when official prices are dropped and the differences between the 2 models are stated by Sony.  I will actually pay attention to E3 this year.

[QUOTE="CallOfDutyRulez"]Bad move, SONY. Microsoft could make the starting price $199 with an $80 monthly payment for 2 years and it would crush the PS4.BPoole96

Are you out of your mind? That would cost over $2000 lol

$399 and. $499 model confirmed. Adjust to market the $430 and $530. Same thing happened with the Wii U.

1. stupid price point we have always had a rounded number. 2. If the ps4 is 430 with 8 gig gddr5 than its logical the rumored 8 gig ddr3 will cost quite a bit less.
