I'm playing it right now, and forget about the screenshots that were posted here sometime ago, because the port is pretty good. The only "strange" thing about the presentation are the cutscenes. They are real time in the GC and PS2, but they seen to be pre-rendered in the PC version, because the quality is low, but everything else is just awesome. I'm playing it at 1024x768, very smooth performance btw. The game is automatically configured to be played with the Xbox 360 controller, and works flawlessly. Even the analog stick calibration is perfect. Here are the button layout:

Action/confirm: x

Run/Cancel: a

Map: start

Ready knife: left bumper

Ready weapon: right bumper

Command Ashley: b

Status: y

Options /Skip movies: back

Movement / Aim weapon: left analog stick

Control camera: right analog stick

PS: i have it for the GC and PS2.What can i say, i love RE.

Bad screenshot, but the games looks ok. The cutscenes look terrible though.

Resident Evil 4 for the PC is by and large one of the examples of a poor port IMO. It uses the same pre-rendered cutscenes as the PS2 and has cut out a large amount of lighting/fog effects. I have both versions and a boss certain fight in the port is lacking pretty much all lighting.

How do you know if its a PS2 port? That's right please sit down. Just because the game graphics can't compete with majority of PC games doesn't mean it was a PS2 port. There's no proof so don't make false claims. Nintendo fans these days..... Most of them gotta be around 12-14 years old

Play the Ps2 ver and then play the pc ver there the same ver. Port over the Gc ver or come out with an update or something. and dont get so mad because no one wants the ps2 ver of this game.

the game look pretty bad, and I don't think anyone would want to buy it anymore because those who want to play it already did ( I bought both the gamecube and ps2 version)

Actually it is a PS2 port it has the seprate ways missions features in the PS2 versions and  you can tell by looking at the reduced polycounts that it isnt from the GC version.  Also it doesnt compete with the majority of pc game graphcis?  Please it still looks pretty dam good by pc standards nothing compared to high end quality titles but it is not a bad looking title by any means.

What in the world is your problem? He could be right. Just because he said it was a PS2 port and was bad doesn't mean that he's a fanboy. Besides, take away the extra content from the PS2 version, and GC beats it hands down. It has better graphics, and a smoother frame-rate.

Unfortunately, just like the PS2 version, and not the GC version. The fellow user that said the version is based on the PS2 version is right. But the PC version has the advantage of the higher resolutions, and contrary to what people may think, the higher resolutions make the game beautiful, and not pixelated, and the performance is solid. The game locks the fps at the maximum of 30 fps, but believe me, it runs pretty smooth, not the same of other PC games running at 30 fps. It never went down on my machine, and i'm playing at 1024x768. The Xbox 360 controller support is also great. Yes, it would have been better a port based on the GC version, but PC owners that never played this awesome game will not be disappointed, they will have a better experience than PS2 owners had, mainly due to the higher resolutions.

I have pictures of both running on my TV, and the GC is clearly, and i'll say it again, clearly better. It has better lighting and more detail on the scenery. If someone teaches me how to post pictures i'll prove you wrong.

I am downloading the game tonight. After how bad DMC 3 for PC was, I am not even sure that RE4 will be worth the free download. Most likely I will get bored after a couple hours.

I think I'll stand, thanks. The PS2 version of RE4 uses .MPEG format for its cutscenes while the GC version uses real-time rendering for its cut-scenes. If you extract the files in the PC version you will find that it uses .MPEG format for its cut-scenes (which explains why some say they look bad). Now, why would the PC version use a video format instead of real-time, when the average PC today is more powerful than the PS2 and GC? Because it's a PS2 port.

GameCube controller plays the game perfectly. It's one of those games that is suited for the aysemtrical design.
