Resident Evil 4-R Still best game of 2023?

So friends, half of 2023 have passed and no game is actually better than this game right there.

It is not only the best Remake of all time but also one of the best TPS game and best game of 2023. also surprise because I found original overrated.

despite playing plenty of 2023 game. Hogwart (trash), TLOU PC(shitty movie game with excellent gameplay), Atomic Heart (great but not masterpiece), System Shock (Its Good but its not SS2).

This game is better than any game released 2023 so far.

of course STALKER 2 have chance to be better, or Alan wake 2 ( sadly it looks like it also ruined unless they focus more on Alan). or I really hope Starfield have chance to be GOTY if it has same promise they show.

I would say The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom myself but both are 10/10 masterpiece games in my opinion.

RE4 remake is the GOTY of 2023 so far. Zelda: TOTK can get second place.

Those two are head and shoulders above any else released in 2023 and I find it highly unlikely anything will come close to their quality.

FXVI could go either way, Starfield is going to flop and Spiderman 2 lol won't be GOTY material.

If STALKER 2 is released this year. than that will be for me. if Alan wake 2 deliver because im disappointed by not promoting Alan as playable character. so it remain in tack.

Stalker2 is SOOOOOOOOOOOO releasing this year that they had zero presence during the biggest MS show in like 5 years. Stop dreaming, we won't see that game before late 2025.

yes. STALKER 1 was in development hell and development restart many times. it was called oblivion lost at one point. even had driving segments.

I still haven't played it, refused to given the shit state they released the Xbox version under. They still have for no reason the deadzones set to 25%. If I do play it, I'll wait for a sale, a substantial one.

RE4R was good. I might feel differently about it if it weren't a retread.

TotK is just one of the most consistently impressive games I've ever played. That and SF6 are leading the year for me, so far ahead of everything else I've played. Wish these two didn't release back to back, turned me into an irresponsible bum lol.

Totk will get majority of goty awards for sure. Its just that good. Would be interesting in a year if ER and totk release on the same year, who will get more awards?

If the question is if your favourite game of the year is your favourite game of the year, yeah probably. I've heard Stalker will have no female characters. So it might be a strong candidate too, because we all know a woman's place is either on the kitchen or in the bedroom.

That would've been interesting for sure. ER was like a mega event similar to when Halo 2 and Halo 3 launched. Its something we don't see these days (covid certainly helped). And people kept talking about that thing for months after launch. All i am seeing from totk is funky shorts of people building a bunch of crap that instal kill everything. Not seeing the impact botw had.

Haven't played it and have no desire to play it, so not for me it isn't.

Also re4r is a great game no doubt, but so was the original 🤡. I don't even understand how you can say re4r is goty but trash the original. That is one of your dumbest takes to date, since the gameplay mechanics, story and pacing are almost identical. The one small difference is that re4r might be more horror than the original, but thats about it.

@ghosts4ever: Most likely not since Zelda TOTK was released (I haven't played it yet). RES4R It's my personal favourite. Also, FF16 is a contender too but, it's not for me as I don't like the direction FF has been for many years. I'm longer a big fan.

RE4R was good, but I'm not sure it'll even be nominated for a GOTY award this year.

It's going to be between Zelda and Starfield.

TotK, while incredible, has a strong foundation in BotW. Starfield on the other hand might mark the return of Bethesda as a top tier developer, with a brand new IP and on a scale that even for their standards is impressive. Of course it can be a colossal **** up too, we never know.

We also have Diablo which is not my cup of tea but seems to be doing great.

But wait, no! It's the rereremilking of TLoU on PC that will be crowned GOTY 2023! 😄

Never understood the consensus that Zelda is the best thing since sliced bread. Elden Ring and the Souls games does it better for me. In an honest world, BOTW and TOTK are 8/10 games. Just my opinion.

Speaking of GOTY awards, I'd say Baldurs Gate 3 has a pretty good shot at being the best RPG of the year.

Larian's last game got 10/10 everywhere, and this one is significantly more ambitious. If they pull it off, I don't see anything else this year topping it.

@uninspiredcup: the exploration is very hollow for me, not enough going on. Think the combat could be way better but I feel the series gets a pass simply for it being the series it is. Under a different name, I'm sure more would be called out. BOTW getting a pass with it's weapons breaking all the time tells me all I need to know in terms of the mental gymnastics people will go through to give it anything but acclaim.
