Resident Evil was never horror game, it was action/adventure.
glez13
Of course it wasn't because there is no such thing as a horror game genre. There are games that have horror based themes and stories, but horror isn't a gaming genre.
Survival Horror is a sub-genre defined mainly by limited resources, various puzzles (whether they be straight-forward or more cryptic) and a generally dark and suspenseful atmosphere. Unfortunately it no longer exists.[QUOTE="glez13"][QUOTE="StealthMonkey4"]

There's still Silent Hill but the quality isn't at it's best.
People need to get their nostalgia glasses off and realize that the classical Resident Evil series not only had awful voice acting and wasn't very scary out side of the fact of the horror of trying to control a character that moved like a tank through a fixed camera placed in a room that showed you literally a 3rd of the room.. Scary games are ones like Amnesia, not a Resident Evil game.. sSubZerOoNobody is complaining about how scary its going to be, they want the actual gameplay they preferred. For me amnesia isnt a replacement at all.
I've known awhile ago that the old type of survival horror is dead, so these new features in RE arent bad.
[QUOTE="dakan45"]and dead space a cover system and universall ammo HOORAY, hey Electronic Asses, how about you give us the licence of system shock so we can make a proper survival horror game since you are not willing.badtakerlol still angry with EA for system shock :P
Guys, at least Frictional will save us. Amnesia, and now Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, true horror titles for true horror fans.
You don't even need a gaming PC to run it (though its not kind to APU's). I do think Frictional should bring their games to console though as XBLA/PSN titles, so console only gamers can experience the pure terror of running in the dark with paintings slowly twisting around you and some terrible creature in pursuit of you (but you don't want to look because it will probably murder you if you do).
I am saddened horror has become like this. Heck, the F.E.A.R series was somewhat scary, now its all action, and even Condemned ended up switching it up a bit (with Condemned 2 starting off amazing, then the last half being a shoot and punch fest with some weird Fus Ro Dah head exploding head power thrown in).
I feel like the managers at Capcom are clueless on what people want.

People don't even know what they want
You think people would still buy RE games if they had clunky lame survival horror aspects as the first three?. If you said yes then you're ****** lying. People complain if games try something new, people complain if they stay the same formula, how about you just play games for fun/the entertainment value instead of trying to be a poser gamer/critic.
The last RE game that was true survival horror was RE Code Veronica, that was 12 years ago, stop beating a dead horse and if you can't accept RE for evolving/doing something new then move on and don't buy their games.

I just want my atmosphere back. Though I know that aint happening. I accept what RE is now that doesint mean I cant point out what I dont like.

Watched the demo on gamespot. The game truly looks hideous. Button prompts everywhere. Controls don't look natural or smooth because of it. Levels looks to be poorly scripted (aka way too scripted). HAte that u have to play with an AI all the time (?). Meh not interested in this.SushigluttonHere's to hoping the AI isn't awful like in Resident Evil 5.
I actually really like segmented health regen systems. Makes it so that you go into fights in a better position than you left the previous one but still have a consequence from taking damage that has to be remedied with a traditional health solution.
Unfortunately EVERYTHING ELSE about this game looks terrible.
I saw that in the vid. How ridiculous. He was right when he said it played more like a parody of RE1. They should have went with a new IP name. Cover Wars or something. Then they could go all out with the direction they want to head in. Now we have to see the last remnants of RE being pried out one by one.LOL.
When Leon runs out of ammo it doesn't matter because he has his overpowered kicking attack to literally kick ass.

If this is what you are complaining about from playing the demo then you have no standards whatsoever. Health regen is HARDLY a thing worth complaining about these days.
Well I don't think it will be as bad as what people seem. I think Revelations had a similar sort of system to store herbs.
What are you saying here? That the demo is so bad that health regen is not even worth complaining over? I suppose I could see your point there. Regardless, health regen is a terrible mechanic. It doesn't belong in Resident Evil, it doesn't even belong in CoD... It doesn't belong in any shooter because it's completely ----ing moronic unless you're going for a Sci-fi setting, for which Halo gets a free pass (too bad everything else about those games is terrible). It's one of the worst mechanics to weed its way into so many different games these days and hopefully the next-generation will do something to remedy the situation. Though that's unlikely. If this is what you are complaining about from playing the demo then you have no standards whatsoever. Health regen is HARDLY a thing worth complaining about these days.

You get my seal of approval.

Maybe they got smarter or something? It's probably explained in the game.
That sounds fine.
In case people haven't gotten this through their heads yet, Resident Evil 6 is not a return to the roots of the series. It is not a hardcore traditional survival horror game. You don't need to act like you've forgotten this every time new info comes out.
Technically you can still lose health, but with how it's set-up, it sounds like it'll be hard to land yourself in a low-health situation.
With that said, the more I hear the worse it sounds. I'll be surprised if it ends up being good on its own merits.

You expect Resident Evil fans to be rational?
I too would like cumbersome tank controls. Oh wait, no I wouldn't because that's silly.I would love a new "classic" Resident Evil.
