Code Veronica and Code Veronica X are essentially the same game. But that 9.5 score was in 2000. This 6.9 score was in 2003, meaning it hasn't stood the test of time too well.

Code veronica was indeed an incredible game,i loved it.But i must say theat RES4 just about beats it in terms of sheer thrills and tight gameplay.Veronica was a great puzzle game and had some good action parts but RES4 was an ACTION game (not arcadey at all imo) and it nailed it so well that it left most other games looking average next to it.

Before RES4,Veronica was my fav. res game though.

I'd agree that RE: CV is one of the best RE games, but still behind the REmake. The Stories, atmosphere, and puzzles that were in both were all missing from RE4, which I felt was for the worse.

However RE4 nailed the change to camera and most Important THE INVENTORY.

I thought that the perfect solution would be to overhaul the inventory system and camera/controls, not the entire franshise.

I like RE4, but at the same time I felt it did the series a huge diservice, especially in the story direction.

Its just ridiculous let me tell u why i don't think RE4 will suck compared to those 3 games i just mentioned, it was the least original RE game I've played, the game just stole so many things from other games :? I CANT TELL U ENOUGH HOW MUCH I HATED THAT MERCHANT GUY, it was sooooo annoying it took challenge from the game and interrupted the pace of the game seriously its like dino crisis 2 all over againwith those booths where u could buy all the weapons its no funif the weapons arehanded to u,its fun only if u found them after strugling with 43545monster:?and the shoot range thing where u got those stupid statues? R U KIDDING ME!!?? i had Zelda OoT flashback,that sucked so bad it was just not... it didn't fit itwas strange simple as that,then it wasthe radio thingy with that woman :?HELLO MGS RIP OFF!! its was just sooo weird other re games had similar things but at least they hide it and didn't show those videos.

To end this rant i will just like to say that REAL RE FANS didn't liked this game as much as u think, it was just soo different but not good different :( Resident evil games IMO are ranked this way RE2>RE1>RECV>RE3>everything else>RE4.

Not on average. All 3 RE4 games were AAA apart from the crappy PC port. How many versions of Veronica and how many scored AAA? I remember there was 3 versions. DC, PS2 and GC.

You're a joke. Real RE fan means Jack **** in the real world. RE4 was far superior to previous RE games. I played RE when it first came out on PS1..it was amazing but RE4 was amazing too...it's the perfect series evolvement. How do you make a franchise feel amazing after 10 years? Ok I love my Resi, I love the traditional gameplay and I really liked CV (its what sold me on a Dreamcast).

And I know thats your opinion and thats cool, but wow I can't dance to that at all. I'll admit the new direction isn't ''my'' Resident Evil anymore but its still proving to be amazing.

I have played it, and I disagree with you.. strongly. REmake and RE4 are WAAYYY better than Code: Veronica.

Dissing on RE4 for being to "arcadey" is stupid. That game is simply one of the best games ever made.

It is intense, beautiful, lengthy, action packed, and it features absolutely amazing boss battles.

Just because it doesn't stick to the "traditions" of RE doesn't mean anything.

Alot of RE's traditions were ****ing stupid.

RE4 is a masterpiece; if you "RE traditionalists" would pull your heads out of your past-obsessed collective arse, you might realize that.

Leon Kennedy, highly trained agent....who can't walk and shoot at the same time. :| Yeah, the previous RE games were the same in the sense that you couldn't walk and shoot, but previous games were far more slower paced and methodical. That kind of stupid game design should never be accepted.

Yeah, there were some improvements in RE4 in terms of set pieces, but it's loss of tension and atmosphere make it below the quality of CV in my opinion.

None the less it outscored it and won GOTY. It outscored it with less atmosphere and all of those Resident Evil aspects. Its gameplay is that strong my man.

Resident Evil 4 didnt have any zombies they had a different name and acted and looked way different than zombies....

That game was dumb and as a long time fan I didnt even buy it. I rented it and was so let down I pretty much gave up on the series....5 might be able to bring it back but at this point its lookin kinda lost too me.

Neither are better, both are different (neither suck either), both I like.I think they need to bring the old school part back in upcoming game.

Code Veronica is one of my favorite games in the series, but I will have to disagree with you about it being better than RE4. Code Veronica was a very good update of the classic RE gameplay brought into full 3D. It had good graphics (for the time), a good story, and had some pretty good scares. However, RE4 was just so friggin' innovative it blew me away. Every third person action game these days is copying RE4 to some degree, and it's because RE4 re-invented the third person camera, and breathed new life into RE's aging gameplay. Sure, it had a different breed of Zombies from the classic George Romero type from previous REs, it was less scary, and it took the story in a completely new direction. But you know what? It made things fresh again.

I'd love to see future RE games return to the series' roots a bit in some ways, like maybe bringing back some of the scaryness that was only present in a few parts of RE4. Overall though, I like the direction the series is moving in, and I hope that Capcom continues to innovate and evolve the series rather than getting comfortable and leaving it completely unchanged for several games in a row.
