I'm not sure if you understand what a genre is... It is what the game is as a whole, not just certain integrated mechanics....8Tango
I will be very honest here, because I can't find anything that makes Resident Evil 4 a survival horror. Should the point in it is to run away and tried to save your ammo, but in Resident Evil 4 everytime you take down a enemy they most of the time drops ammo? And no you don't have to avoid any enemies here because the supplies of ammo in this game is abundant.

For me the amount of ammo provided is a non-issue. A truly great survival horror game can scare or creep out the player without resorting to cheaper tactics. Plenty of horror games have given you more ammo than you would need and still managed to be scarier than the creepiest Resident Evil. I do agree that RE4 isn't a survival horror game, but that's not the point.

[QUOTE="cubemovies"]Fools. RE4 was about Leon being sent on a mission to rescue the president's daughter. How dumb is that. He could've walked away from the village any time he wanted too. That's not survival horror. It's more like Goldeneye with aliens. That's right. there weren't even zombies in the game

No one is saying that RE4 didn't have a crap story. However, it made up for that in spades with it's excellent gameplay.

well, RE and story go hand-in-hand dating back to 1996, so I'm going to have to disagree with you. Also, the over the shoulder view and turning mechanism was horrible in RE4

Well all I was trying to get through was Resident Evil 4 isn't survival horror game, but was just simply a horror game. Yeah and I agree that there definitely more scarier game than Resident Evil like Silent Hill for example.

I think Resident Evil 4 pushed Resident Evil in a new direction its just number 5 was just basically a clone of number 4. Code Veronica is an excellent game and so is the original 3 games. 5 Just ruined it.

RE (original), RE2, RE0> RE CV> RE3> RE4> RE5

October_Tide

This!

edit: if we're to consider both RE outbreak , they'd be along or a little behind RE , RE 2 and RE0 IMO, the whole thing of being chased for the most part of the levels was great and scary as hell :P
