Resistance 2 vs GOW 2 Graphics - Honest Opinion.

theres large and small environments in gears also.. if you havent played it you should and try and play the chapter with when you have to go inside the worm its freakin crazy

From what I have played of it, its pretty visually underwhelming (R2)........ However the 'large' enemies - like bosses, and very impressive.skrat_01

What?! :lol: Seriously, Resistance 2 doesn't have a good art direction at all. It just looks like cities and corridors, for the most part. :| Gears 2 has the beautiful caves (not greyish green :|), Snow filled landscape, inside of the beast, the underground area with the kraken boss, etc. All very distinct and beautiful. To say the game is all (or almost) "greyish green" is factually incorrect, and furthermore, its artistic direction is far more evident than in Resistance 2.

Well I would have to totally disagree. While Resistance 2 probably looks great, from the pics iv'e seen it doesnt look anywhere near realistic, it looks about as realistic as gears. If you work up and opened your eyes and what you saw looked like the graphics of resistance 2 I think you would be calling a ambulance.

I have both systems and these are two of the most sought after tites released this year. Frankly, even though Gears wipes the floor when it came to comparing it with Resistance 1, R2 definitely is better looking. Waaay better looking. Somehow the textures this time around in R2 are icredibly striking and detailed. Almost photorealistic at times. And what to say about the lighting and the fog...the PS3 hardware really excels here.

Gears 2 seems to have definitely better looking graphics than the first installment but the overall texture detail has definitely been toned down. Maybe the xbox truly has reached the pinacle of its performance cycle and the memory and bus limitations are coming into play.

Fact is that R2 has a way less involving single player campaign but Gears 2 has much inferior Multiplayer. I mean 15 minutes wait times for getting into a match. Sickening.

Overall the two consoles definitely seem to have reached a new threshold in interactive entertainment and the next year is going to be truly exciting.
