lol only 180k copies sold in an entire month.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Poor advertising and just way too many games this year probably contributed to those low sales. Plus that's U.S Only, and Resistance isn't really a big name title here.
Modern Warfare 3 on the PS3 will demolish that number.
And people say CoD sells better on the 360 because the PS3 owners have more shooters to choose from...
Look at this game's sales. A PS3 exclusive.
Another sign that CoD is the only franchise that sells on the PS3, period.
PS3 gamers = COD gamers.
Im actually glad it turned out that way, because:
1) Seems the market is finally fed with scripted corridor shooters. Finally!
2) That stupid used-games sales protection didt help, right? Maybe if people knew that thay can resell the game after they play through its 5 hours short campaign and get bored by the generic multiplayer, they would buy it more.
Um dude I seen that stupid R3 commercial with kevin butler on tv a million times. It had nothing to do with advertising. In america the 360 owns bottom line.Poor advertising and just way too many games this year probably contributed to those low sales. Plus that's U.S Only, and Resistance isn't really a big name title here.

I'm buying it when it hits $40. I really liked Resistance: Fall of Man, but Resistance 2 was major letdown in my opinion, felt like a sci-fi CoD (though better to be fair). This is just another FPS that unfortunately I'm not willing to pay full price for. I've heard the ending doesn't wrap up the story at all though, which is disappointing considering the likelihood, or lack thereof of a 4th entry.
Its deserved instead of completely refining the awesome that was resistance 2 they changed it up again tried to make it like that crap that was resistance 1.
I've never heard that argument, but lmao if cows actually try that one.lol sounds made up, but poor resistance 3, the single player was so good. what a shame[QUOTE="SHATT3R3D-GLASS"]

Huh? :|
I'm no cow, but GT5 sold about 7 million, MGS4 sold about 5.5 million, and ND said Uncharted 2 sold 4.9 million a while ago.
Hell, even FFXIII sold almost 5 million copies on the PS3 alone.

I spent 2.17 cents to rent this game from redbox. I guess .17 cents went to the governement. Insomniac better appreciate it.

No I don'tThe game wasn't anticipated all that heavily, there are a ton of great games coming out this holiday season, there was very poor advertising... yeah, can't say I'm surprised. Although I won't say it's a good or bad game, because I have not played it. Besides, I'm not the kind of person to say that sales matter anyways.
Yeah, that's hilarious. :|
It's a shame that because of the first 2 games (that were mediocre) not many will play #3, because it is an extremely well made game and deserves more than this.

No I don'tJust ignore SHATT3R3D. This is his like fifth alt account I've seen of his. He's been banned numerous times and only talks about CoD like it's the holy grail.
The saddest part is, Resistance 2 sold 400k in its first month in the U.S.

Lack of hype, porr advertising, many other great games being released later.

It was Resistance 2. That would leave a taste in anyone's mouth strong enough to dissuade purchases of future installments.
What a shame. Maybe they should port the game to other platforms and get more money for their hard work.

Gears 2 was also released in November 2008, and managed 1.5 million. Yet, Resistance 2 did (marginally) better than its sequel.

LovePotionNo9
I'm not sure if that's true, though.
I've heard that Resistance 3 tries a lot to be like COD, though ironically, its best moments, is when it's not like COD and they're doing their own thing (not too much of it, apparently).

Budget... Advertising, you do know that good advertising will sell anything. Thats where Sony play it badly, advertising is seriously costly and as evident with Kinect it can cost in a matter of weeks what the entire development would cost over a matter of years. Sony don't like that, they'll take forum advertising with some goofy costume that spiders out to every forum on the net before paying a dime for some decent advertising slots.Imho, PS3 gamers should support their exclusives instead of just bragging about them in SW. Thank god Insomniac moved on on platforms where their talent will be appreciated.GeneralShowzer
They havent exactly been on the ball this gen either...but i agree

resistance 2 was far superior to resistance 1.I dont get it, whats so funny or interesting to talk about? :?.. these games have legs they keep selling non-stop, same happens with every exclusive. Ratchet and clank for example was less than that on first month and went on to be a over 2 mil game in less than a year, same with infamous, heavy rain and so on. people tend to forget the legs these games have not to mention PS3 has a huge verity of games and people are waiting for different games. if R3 was the only exclusive the whole year like gears of war it would have hit over 2 mil. i havent picked up R3 because im waiting for other games and many are doing the same. till end of next year R3 will be over 2 Million. we been thorugh this with every single game lol even Uncharted 2 which went on to be a over 5Million game. plz ppl do research! these games got legs they keep selling and selling it dosent have to be huge number on first month
