Resistance 2 had the bullet points and content, but the gameplay, while fun, was meh compared to the FPS elite (imho). Resistance 3 can definitely be AAA but only if Insomniac step up their game.

That's doubtful though. Like I said, they aren't Naughty Dog. They don't tend to push themselves as a developer.
Same here, multiplayer had me hooked for months.indeed the co-op was very good.. by far my favorite console FPS.. yeah I'm with you ! I'm still going for my 10.000 kills though ..
Man, i cant even put into the words the complete lack of *care* that i have for Resistance. I know i've said it's a crappy criticism in the past, but if 'generic' applies to anything it's that game. Dull, dull, dull.

Depends on what tactic they follow. Judging by the first game, if the second is anything like it, it wont do well on consoles. If they make it more console focused, the pc users will be pissed.
With Killzone 3 on the horizon, I see no point in Resistance 3. Sony has got its flagship FPS already, a second one is unneeded. They need to work on Uncharted 3 instead and Insomniac should just make a new Jak or a completely new IP.
I haven't played either the first or second, because I'm not sure of their overall quality. I don't care about multiplayer for those games, but how is the story and shooting mechanics.
If its anything close to what the first two were LOL. Especially the 2nd one. Its exactly what would an HD The Conduit look/plays like. Hated it and laughed at some placed becouse how bad it was scripted. For the 3rd one to *pwn* they need to change EVERYTHING which won't happen.

I hope so... loved RFoM and while R2 is not that bad, it was indeed a disappointment

Really? R2 was better than the original in every possible way. Personally R2 is my favorite fps.
I concur, except on 1 single thing... the storytelling.
In RFoM we got this narration kind of style which I loved, cuz I felt I was being told a story... but this got dumped somewhere along the road towards R2 and while it had better graphics, better gameplay it lacked the one thing I loved the most from the previous game.
There are many gamers that state Retribution is even better than R2 just because they implemented this kind of narration again for this game.
The only silver lining to the boring, uninspired R2, was the co-op, which was ridiculously fun. The campaign was meh, and the online is decent, but there are other FPS's with better online MP out there. If R3 is announced, I hope Insomniac takes some risks with it. Hopefully its a lot better than R3. But I have no hopes of this besting anything.
I'm sorry buddy, but even in your dreams you'll find that Half Life is always better than every other FPS.
It could be a good dream too. Doesn't have to be a nightmare.

I almost puked while playing Half-Life 2 Then I changed the view and while my headache disappeared, I almost fell asleep while playing it Indeed, I always thought that it was just me. Maybe because I'm too young, but I tried to play HL2 from the Orange Box, and I couldn't get into it at all. If it were to be released today, it would get 6/10 IMO.

Yeah. Resistance is definitely a better shooter than Killzone...Killzone 1 that is.
It needs a lot of improvements if it's going to do that. Both Resistance games are great IMO, but not as good overall as Halo 3, Killzone 2, HL2, and other FPS's. By themselves, they're great games.
As for the improvements, we need the following:
Ditch the Nathan Hale storyline alltogether. It's dead. Just drop it. Start a new storyline with a new character. You guys (Insomniac) ****ed up big time with the R2 story.
Better weapons? Seriously.You guys make Ratchet and Clank with all these crazy fun weapons, and Resistance series only has the Bullseye and the Auger that are cool AND fun. Seriously, get some better weapons designers.
Keep the (fantastic) 8 player co-op, while still adding a co-op campaign for offline purposes.
Related to the previous point: 4 player split screen. It's dumb as hell to have a 2 player split screen co-op mode when you need at least 3 players to get anywhere. Horrible design choice.
Come back with the weapon wheel.
Don't make the whole screen saturate with blood when I get shot once. I can never tell how close I am to dying. Make it like other shooters, or bring back the health bar.
Split-screen + online. R2 did this wonderfully. Now can you just do it with 4 player split-screen?
Make the boss fights... errr... fun? R2's were impressive in size, but that's all. They involved you following a pattern over and over again. They had neither the fun factor that boss fights should have nor the thrill that you should get from a boss fight.
Keep the multiplayer from R2. It's spectacular. Just have split screen multiplayer this time. It was extremely stupid to leave that out of R2.
That is all. All in all, I like the resistance games, but they need major improvements, given the potential that they have.

Sure, the gunlay is trash and the vehicles are even worse, but a 6? It's got an above average story, excellent story telling, immersion, great characters, and the gravity gun. I'd say it's AT LEAST an 8. I'd give it a 9. Just my thoughts.
Didn't like Resistance 1. Resistance 2 was slamed by the fanbase quite a bit though I never played. I probaly am not going to like Resistance 3 at all from this.
