Resistance is a great concept..but 2 things hold it back, imo

No, I'm sick of the "bad ass" main characters. How about someone players can actually relate to? He is fine.

The story is pretty darn good for a FPS. I actually enjoyed the SP a lot because of the story.

1. Yeah, Hale was extremely plain but master chief isnt much better. I thought marcus was a joke. Snake could be a badass, but he is born form the mind of Kojima-sama, where nothing is what it seems :P. Kratos however is a true badass, the best ever, infact.

2. The premise is great. There are probably 4 weapons max that could have been used in WWII. The Chimera are a refreshing enemy and the story is deep enough for you to ask questions. Its Insomniac, the story is in good hands.

If you played the game you would realize that story wise, Nathan Hale isnt the main character, the History is the main character. Yes, I know we use Nathan Hale all throughout, but the most prevalent and interesting character in the entire series is the Mythos of Resistance. Nathan Hale could have been soldier X who happened to survive, this isnt MGS4 where snake is the main character and his experiences are in the forefront. This is resistance, its like a look at the war through the eyes of a soldier. I honestly believe (and i may be wrong) that the story is setup in a way, that Nathan Hale is a side character and the real main character is the History behind the chimera. Just my opinion, and if my opinion is correct, Badass characters arent needed. And on that note, you dont always need badass characters. Some of the best characters are the weak and pathetic ones who must overcome insurmountable odds showing fear and anxioty (butchered spelling :P ) to achieve their goal.II_Seraphim_II

I really think no one ever listens to the story of games anymore, its like there to cool for it lol. Heck in this thread we've got people that sound like they want cut scenes after complaining about mgs4 lol but yet they still don't understand Rfom's story or how it's being directed to understand that Nathen Hale is your joe blow everyday soldier with a shaved head that is going to save the world :) He didn't need to be some bad ass, that is not the way the story is directed, they wanted you to feel like you could know this guy, heck maybe even lives next door to you.

Also Gordon Freeman, never said a word in HL2 and he wheres glasses so whats wrong with Nathen again lol.

I agree with your first point when we're talking about the first Resistance... because Nathan didnt talk alot in the first game. Hopefully they'll fix that in the second game.

And I think that WW2 with Aliens is very appealing, and the way Insomniac has had those "documentaries" that tie in real historical events with fictional events in the game makes it very interesting. I like the idea.

I too am tired of playing these overly macho guys. Could the characters in gears be any bigger or dumber? I'd love to play a game where the little guy beats the odds. Perhaps with his brains instead of with guns. I guess that is what makes Mario appealing even to this day. Maybe show some vulnerability instead of this caveman mentality most of them have. Travis Touchdown was a nice change of pace. What a great geek character. Hell I'd take the sackboys over Marcus Fenix any day.
