You know what's bad, getting a 1 month notice that their channel gonna go to Facebook Gaming.

Nobody is gonna get burned a 2nd time from them, both MS & FB. I think this is a bit of negative for their gaming PR department and this kinda shows MS don't give a shit about their platform and the hard-working streamers if it doesn't make them $$$. I've seen some Mixer streamer pour like 110% to the platform and they just got abandoned with barely any notice. But hey many people saw this coming a while ago. Should've use those money that got the big names hired to improve the platforms and other partnered streamers.

There were two instances I was on Mixer, free subs for both Ninja & Shroud for a month & getting Sea of Thieves free skin watching Inside Xbox.

For Facebook gaming, does that mean I have to make a new account if i wanna hide my real name LOL?

I think one of the biggest drawbacks of Mixer compared to Twitch is the limited device support. You can't watch Mixer live streams/videos on PS4, the most popular gaming console on the planet, or Amazon's Fire TV Stick, a very popular media device for TV. MS had to give up a huge amount of potential users due to completion with Sony and Amazon. Video game streamers in general, however, want to expose themselves to as many viewers as possible (so as sponsors, of course), then the best option being Twitch. It doesn't matter if Mixer has slightly better features or not. When viewership is the first priority for them, being supported by as many device as possible like Twitch is crucial, but Mixer couldn't fully get them.

Never really been a fan of watching people play games; regardless of platform.

It's super annoying, because more often than not, it turns out to be about the streamer instead of the game they're playing.

I think the problem with Mixer is that it lacked public awareness. My friends who got into streaming either streams on FB gaming or Twitch and have no interest in Mixer. Granted all of them don't have xbox and streams PC/PS4 centric games like Monster Hunter World or FF7R or whatever exclusive games.

I myself only started to watch twitch very recently and its only due toFF7 Remake Aerith Voice Actress. She gives hints and clarification on certain scenes and as a long time Clerith is the canon ship always made me happy on the hints. I imagine after she finishes her FF7R stream I quit again. No reason to watch anyone plays.

Also its crazy, I noticed Sea of Thieves Twitch concurrent viewship numbers in thousands. I mean who the fk watches that.

Is this place full of boomers? How do people not know what Mixer and Twitch are?

Be pretty wild for a gamer to not know what Twitch is.

Won't lie tho, only heard of Mixer in a few stories and legit never watched a stream on it. Like I remember hearing about MS paying for some big name streamers... and now this. Can't think of anything else lol.

Well to be frank, I only know that Twitch exists and it's a platform for live streaming, that's about it. I haven't seen even any video of its stream or visited its website or even know what its logo/brand looks like. So pretty sure there are other people like me.

Doesn't FB have a larger audience outside the US anyway? I get what Mixer is trying to do but to partner with FB gaming is somewhat questionable. I'm wondering how that is gonna be appealing to use XCloud for people outside the English-speaking communities because many more FB users are outisde the English-speaking countries like India and Indonesia probably don't even use GamePass. Anyways, some FB metrics.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/268136/top-15-countries-based-on-number-of-facebook-users/.

I'm not saying that a lot of people that watches FB gaming are from other countries, but there's gonna be a significant number right? I just wonder why would people in India use FB to game in XCloud. Pretty sureall the FB metadata still helps XCloud right?

Good thing they payed Ninja and Shroud all that money...

Yo, the Xbox branch of Microsoft is the most clueless bunch of folks I think I’ve ever seen in the gaming industry. They’ve literally done nothing right and have been in 3rd place FOR THE ENTIRE EXISTENCE OF THE XBOX BRANDS LIFE. Big Microsoft needs to take a serious look at the hundreds of millions of dollars blown by the Xbox folks. Hell, we could be in the billions at this point. Seriously, Ninja was paid $20 million for 5 months of semi-regular streaming. They paid a few others some serious dough as well. And now it’s just gone? The “let’s just throw some money at it” strategy didn’t work. Does it ever?!?!

The problem is MS never really tries to innovate or lead the pack, they are always playing catch up when trying to enter into new markets.

Windows Phone, Zune, Mixer, Bing, Even Xbox.

@Star67: You have got to be living in another dimension if you think Microsoft as a company never innovates.

Smh what a waste of 15 million. They could have used that money towards their gaming division (create/buy more studios) instead of giving it to that blue haired dude

The Higher-ups at MS need to fire whoever is in charge of their gaming division because they're wasting money left and right.

@Pedro: Ok........do you have examples? I really can't think of anything other than Windows or whatever their business services are.

I truly believe MS would be better off going the way of IBM and focus on the enterprise market.

Other than Xbox and Live, there consumer offerings seem to fall short

^^^ This

Makes me wonder what the future of Game Pass will look like if they can only get people to use it for $1 subs. I keep telling people, nothing with this company is guaranteed. Phil Spencer is a HUGELY extravagant Microsoft exec who burns big cash for short term press, for a division that hasn't seen a profit in years. I think this upcoming gen is going to be do or die for his tenure.

Has it seen profit, ever? (legit question, not fanboy-ing).
