Rise of the Tomb Raider cancelled for PS4?

Didn't the definitive remaster edition sell better on PS4? The PS3 version has also sold extremely well.

They'd be crazy to pass on the growing PS4 population. They have an audience there clearly.

No point announcing the game at E3 seeing it has been out on the X1 for quite awhile. SE wouldn't miss the opportunity to make more money.

As someone who owns both consoles and played both games, Uncharted 4 is a slightly better game overall as an experience but I felt the actual shootouts in RotTR were more hectic and therefore challenging. Both are great games and passing one up because of platform allegiance is ridiculous

P.S. the seaying is actually "couldn't care less" meaning no f**ks left to give. If as you say "could care less" then you do in fact care bout RotTR on some level.

Honestly, I hated the Tomb Raider reboot, and how Lara, in like a twenty minute span went from scavenging and barely getting by, to a mass killing machine with an arsenal nearly like a small milita.

It felt like a half assed Gears of War when that happened, and it left me very salty. Like Oddworld: Strangers Wrath second half salty.

Rise? Nah, especially in an age where setpieces and cinematic walkings are so done to death. Hell, that fucking game has side missions.

Won't happen, they just can't flaunt the game like it's a big game to get on the ps4 though since it's going to be a year old by that point. Sony is the console that sells the most of those types of games and they can't afford not to release it if there will be a new game. Porting it is extremely cheap compared to the money they'lg et from this game alone on ps4, it's not like we're talking about a game from the tales series, this is tomb raider and square enix.

I think they just didn't show anything since it's not exactly a graphics powerhouse next to what else was shown at e3, it simply would of gotten lost in the thunder that was the Sony Conference.

It'll most likely be a stealth release, that and U4 is the better game of the two.

It is, especially when you consider the amount of content. That's not even getting into visual fidelity, voice acting, mocap, variety of environments, animation quality, etc.

U4 simply stands alone in that regard, ROTTR is a better game than it's predecessor but it honestly wasn't too difficult to accomplish that feat when the first wasn't very good in the first place.

I didn't count the MP, but judging simply the SP. The opening of UC4 set's a tone, but from there on the game hit's stride. Some of the most satisfying gun play and level design I've seen in a 3rd person action game. That swing mechanic especially is something I haven't seen done in other games.

Lara still has the nicer ass tho, so there's that .

Being a diehard TR fan, I have come to shut this thread down. ROTTR on the PS4 has NOT been cancelled, and here is the proof. Over at tombraiderforums, a well-known dwelling place for longtime Lara fans, SE often chimes in to chat and whatnot with the posters. Recently the topic of this very thread came up, and a SE affiliate posted to clear the air once and for all. Here is the link:

I was referring to Rise, but you can even see the differences in the reboot. Crystal Dynamics is interested in making a world for you to explore and cool stuff for you to find. Naughty Dog is not.

@ReadingRainbow4: for some reason Sony didn't show a TON of games on the show floor at E3. My personal opinion is because this E3 was supposed to be all about PSVR. About 65-percent of Sonys floor space was all VR. It was supposed to be the hype of the show but it really wasn't. It was more of a curiosity than anything else. People tried it, said okay and went on the play other games they were looking for.

I'm not just saying this to bash Sony either, I'm a VR fan but I think it needs to stick to the genres it's currently good at like games with cockpits and dashboards. Playing Elite Dangerous in VR is brilliant. Eve Valkyrie brilliant. Star Trek Bridge Crew brilliant. The shooters...not so much so.

Yeah, the VR thing was definitely a large part of their show and something I'm not looking forward to at all. Especially games that require room scale, it just looks so damn awkward and ridiculous.

It was never ever cancelled to begin with. To whatever SE has a contract with MS, they cannot talk nor show any PS4 videos until that contract has expired and it's the reason why SE didn't show anything for RotTR PS4 at E3.
