Yeah that was a surprise, I hadn't really even heard about Persona3 and don't really understand jRPGs at all. I was certain that either ME or The Witcher would had gotten it, propably the two best WRPGs in years. But I guess not, Persona3 must be really awesome.EntwineX

Just becausea game is last-gen doesn't mean it can't be better than a next-gen game. Remember gameplay is the most importanting in a videogame not graphics(eventhought they're somewhat important). Try playing Persona 3? Maybe you'll see the game for what it is.:)

We have our false opinions of both. Like wRPGs are seen as basically action games which all try to be open ended and have some lame all good or all evil twist to it. jRPGs are seen as number crunchers where you're basically playing with a caculator.

Both are false to all but only the worst of each one's genre, and once that smoke clears away, they're quite alike.

Rogue Galaxy was pretty bad, but it was atleast better than Eternal Sonata. I think Ill pick up Persona 3, but the whole date sim thing kind of worries me.

Persona 3 deserved it. The Persona series never gets the attention it deserves and usually takes a backseat to over rated rpgs *final fantasy* cough.

How is the gameplay aspect? Does it have depth? Is the story as good as classics like vagrant story & Shadow Hearts?

If you mean Persona then try to imagine a Hogwarts-like atmosphere with normal school in the day time and combat in the night when you roam the halls and an interesting story, Japanese influenced of course and yes it is a good story and the game deserves a place among the classics.

Hahaha, there are things I hate about other GOTY shows that gamespot doesn't fall for, they actually consider this years games. Others buy in to hype WAY too easly. For instance, COD4 won many awards, but I believe a lot of that reason is that it was just the most recent game out. It's still fresh in everyones mind and everyone's playing it. I'm not saying it doesn't deserve recognition, just that once all the after game hype smoke clears, we'll see things a bit more clearly.

And there's one thing I hate more than others, and that's people who talk about this subject like they know it by heart. Have you people played persona 3? It sounds like a load of you didn't, and so you make unjust comments about how a game you never even expirienced didnt' deserve it all because you're in love with mass effect or some **** like that.

It is worth it but you should note that it is not a traditional jrpg, so if you are not into a little experimenting then it might not be for you.
