He doesn't need to. Mass Effect wasn't that great. It was actually pretty poor by BioWare standards. It should've gotten a 7.5 to 8.0.

Trash? JRPGs are excellent (except when they suck, but the same can be said of WRPG's). I'd take Dragon Warrior IV over Ultima IV any day.

mass effect probably didn't win because because it was a buggy mess, i can't speak of the witcher, never played it, but i heard its good. persona 3 is the best RPG ive played in 2 years though:) its awesome.

Ive played alot, Mass Effect is still one of the best games ever made. It is 10 times better than KOTOR, marred only by some technical issues.

Ive played alot, Mass Effect is still one of the best games ever made. It is 10 times better than KOTOR, marred only by some technical issues.

persona 3 doesnt have crappy graphics, and itsnot turnbased. Mass effect playslike a last gen game with all its framerate issues and other problems, like texture loading.

The Witcher or Mass Effect was alot more deserving IMO.

I havent played Persona 3 so I really cant a fully educated judgement though.

Funny thing is that Shin Megami Tensei is far more advanced in terms of gameplay then any of those games on that list (except possibly The Witcher which it should be equaled to from talks of the game)

Seeing as how GS named Persona 3 RPG of E3 (or some equivalent showing) I don't really see the surprise here?

Albeit I love Persona 3, I enjoyed ME a little more. Still have the Witcher sitting unplayed thus far.

Who cares about Bordom's Gate II. I only judge the quality of games by how much hype they have in the gaming magazines and people on the gaming forum's. I don't even need to play Persona 3 to know it sucks because people rarely talk about it on the gaming forums or the gaming magazines/articles so I know it isn't as good as Mass Effect or Eternal Sonata. I don't form my own opinion.

A game where you go to school to level up and where kids shoot themselves in the head with magic pistols to summon monsters.

although i was rooting for witcher to won, i am happy that GS gave award based on what they thought rather than following hype or popularity.naval

Same with the multiplayer awards.

I may of rathered WiC to win, but they are right that Rock Band is the best MP game this year in many respects.

This seems all to similar to Crysis winning fps goty, and plenty of people going for cod4 bashing it - the vasty majority are those who simply havent even played Crysis.

For that reason im not going to critise GS RPG Goty decision

The game is Japanese and doesn't have guns. Because of that the game sucks, I don't even need to play it.

Every Christmas and E3, when these boards are full to the brim with people, I am reminded just how dominant the lems and hermits are on thes forums. There are so many more of them than anyone else.

Persona 3 is a great game that actually might deserve PS2 GOTY over GoW2
